Morning Ladies -
This morning I did Imax 2 and modified some of the air jumps on the rebounder. That is my 2nd favorite Cathe aerobics, Imax 3 being the first. (I burned 400 calories doing this and I thought it was funny when I went to write this in my log and noticed that I burned 375 calories the other day doing Tracie's 50'sh minute BBBB DVD. I think that says a lot for that workout).
I had a hard time sleeping last night due to a severe flare up of neck and shoulder pain. This morning I can't even turn my head or lift my arm very well to put my makeup on or blowdry my hair. This is gonna be a fun day. I don't know if this is from the weather, sleepy funny, arthritis or just a flare up of my pain, but I've not been this bad for years. This sucks.
I got my Push DVDs last night also and I'm quite disappointed. I really like Bob Harper (the Trainer I chose), but my supossed "weight" routines invlove not 1 dumbbell! Everything done is using your body weight (which I'm not allowed to do). It's all pushups, tricep dips, more pushups, tons of planks and lots of leg work (I asked for focus on legs), but the leg work is lying pilates style, leg lifts, etc. with some sumo squats and lying bridge work mixed in. The only resistance used (besides body weight) is in the beginning -- you tie the resistance band and loop it around your ankles to do leg curls while standing. The 2nd session is basically the same exercises, only you do lower body 2nd instead of first.
Anyway, when I filled out my profile, I checked "neck" for my injured part. I tried to check shoulder & neck, but it would only let you choose one........so I guess I should have gone with shoulder injury and maybe I wouldn't have got so many planks, side planks, etc. I also changed my focus area to arms for next month, as I thought the arm work was lacking. I figure I'll change it each month and see what happens.
As far as the aerobics, I only briefly viewed it. It looks pretty good, but the music is so generic. I may have to listen to Seether while I do it. It is like a floor/interval aerobic session with lots of basic moves (which is okay for me....I like mindless aerobics sometimes) and lots of plyo's and jumping alternated with lower intensity moves like hamstring pulls, v-steps, etc.
The other thing that bothers me is that in the personal training (supposed weight section) - the way they piece it together for you is sort of choppy (because they have pretaped segments that they piece together for you). So every exercise starts out with the trainer saying now we're going to do "so and so" after it appears in text on the screen saying what muscles the exercise works. I don't know how this is going to work during the workout.....I may have to jog in between exercises. (and I chose Workout Warrior for my level)
Lastly, they are only 40 minutes each. I never do a 40 minute workout session -- unless I have a doctor appointment!! I guess I can do the 40 minute session and then add aerobics on to the end. If all else fails, I guess they'll at least be good standins for my doctor appt. day workouts.
Have great workouts everyone!!
Sorry this is so long, but I thought you ladies would want to hear about Push.
