Gosh - where is everyone this AM?

This morning I did Valerie's AHB - Build 1 workout. As expected....I loved it. Workout was 47" and I burned around 430 calories. I used more weights than Val on most moves and I kickboxed during her 1 minute rests between circuits. I only took brief breathers to get water and such.

Val is very sincere and inspiring. She is working out with you in real time. She doesn't have any annoying habits. She is breathing heavy and working along with you. You could make this as hard or easy as you want by lifting heavier, lighter, adding cardio during the breaks, etc. She uses a kettlebell for plie squats and resistance tubing with a door attachment for triceps, as well as Valslides.

This is classic Val with her great core work and leg work with Valslides, two of the places you'll feel this most. I did an extra long stretch and previewed the other DVDs from the series and I'm VERY satisfied with what I see. Heck, this might even inspire me to reach for some of her paper workouts when I get sick of the DVDs, as Val works along from paper and makes me think, I can do that too!! LOL.

Have great workouts everyone.

Between Action Hero Babe and The Pit Skills & Drills, I'm one happy camper with my workouts the last few days!

GM Ladies-
yesterday was imax 3. The workout kicked my butt and I burned 615 calories. Eats were terrible yesterday, but I'll plug along and get back on track. I bought Halloween candy which was a HUGE mistake.

Lora-
I'm glad you like the workouts. I have seen rather mixed reviews and am hesitant to spend the money on AHB. Also, to answer your question from yesterday: I am an all or nothing person, make quick decisions and am very stubborn :) Usually if I decide I don't like something, I don't sway much from it. I ordered Chalean on ebay so I didn't pay full price anyway. I may try one more workout, but I just don't like her style. Is there anyone you would compare teaching wise to Valerie?

Shana-nice work on the race....do you keep up with placing or just do it for fun?

Debbie-glad to hear your mom is doing well.

Roselyn-can you give more detail on insanity? I have been curious about the series...

Sorry if I missed anyone :) I didn't get a chance to get back on here yesterday.

Theresa

Theresa - Aww...I see stubborn! LOL! I have a VERY open mind with workouts and there is rarely an instructor that grates on my nerves. Heck, I even like Denise Austin!! LOL. The only instructor that does grate on my nerves is Jari Love. I can't stand her "coddling way". I feel if I'm being baby talked to while trying to have a kick butt workout. I still do her workouts, but I usually blast my own rock music.

Val's workouts are more functional fitness type with lots of core work. You can't compare it to STS or P90X. It is not that "style" of lifting. Val is known for the more feminine physique, but still sculpted and a bit muscular.

I'd say her teaching style is very sincere and encouraging without being coddling! LOL. She gives good form reminders. She is not overly peppy or annyoing. She has an even demeanor (sort of similar to Cathe). She does not joke or get crazy. She is just working out with you like she's training you. She is not overly serious though. She does say to lift heavier or lighter as needed. I really like her. My favorite instructors are Amy Bento and Cathe. I also really like Kelly Coffey-Meyer, Michelle Dozois, Tony Horton, Tracey Staehle, etc. Amy Bento and Cathe are my real fave's though.

I still feel my back a little when I turn to the side. So I decided to hold off another day on that last back and biceps STS dvd in meso #2. I did Kelly's 30 minutes to Fitness Cardio Blast Athletic Step, then 4Day Split High Intnesity Step and burned 501 1hr 8 minutes. Then I did Kelly's 30 minutes to Fitness Body Training Workout#1 Standing(this is all lower body) burned 200 calories , I finished off with Athletic Warrior Yoga 3.0 cycle segment. Total calories burned today was 740 40% fat.

Theresa, I have learned to buy that halloween Candy at the last minute. Once I hid some in a cabinet and forgot about it LOL Found it behind a bunch of games and puzzles when we were getting ready to move. I guess when I pulled it out to use it I missed a bag. I like Chalene ok. I never did purchase that workout though.

Debbie, nice workout. Does your Sportline HR monitor come with a strap? I saw one with the option of using the strap or touch. Kind of looking around because when I changed my battery in mine I think the seal didn't get in there right as sometimes I see moisture on the face of the watch:( Anyway I think the strap (since it was fabric and had the sensors built into it) is getting worn looking. I really have put it to the test LOL
I also saw a new Polar one that is over 200 dollars that you can change the battery in yourself, but not sure that I want to spend that kind of money on one.

Lora, glad that you got your workouts and are enjoying them. I saw that you already preordered REV abs. I am kind of interested in those.

Hi manaics!

Well I participated in my first figure competition. It was a great experience and alot of fun. I placed 6th. I'm ok with that considering it was my first competition. Got feedback from the judges on where I can improve and start my new bulking training program and diet with Olesya on Monday!

Hope you are all doing well!

Sonya, thanks for sharing. You look great. You have obviously put a lot of serious work in. I know you have Olesya but without a hard working client little would happen. Good luck with the next competition. I sure wish that you could check in more and let us know how you are doing. I really did enjoy seeing what you were doing and eating.

Thanks Daine Sue! I will try to post more often. Not sure how exciting my eats will be....pretty much egg whites, oatmeal, chicken, brown rice, salmon and broccoli! Even with the bulking diet the foods are pretty much the same...just get to eat more! :p I will get more creative and throw in some shrimp and flank steak this time around. I gave up eating yams about 3 weeks ago....I had enough! Will add them back in and see how I do. I was lucky as Olesya still allowed me to have cheat meal a week out from comp! I will tell ya though....this is my rest week and I have been more relaxed with my diet and eating a few more carbs....it is addicting! I can see how some girls go crazy with the carbs after competing. Glad I am starting back on my diet come Monday!

Sonya, I always find eats interesting. Is there some things you can add to your oats and fish/chicken, rice, and broccoli. Seasonings. Make them into a frittata something like that? I am always experimenting:D Can you eat spinach and add that in? You are really cut and lean.

Sonya, congrats on your first figure competition; you look awesome!

Today was a super-exhausting day for me, so although I had planned on a light workout, I didn't do anything...sigh. I'm sore in my hamstrings, though, like right behind my knee. It's a bit different feeling than workout soreness; it feels more like it's sore from stretching (yoga class was yesterday). I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. I've always been tight in my hamstrings, and I'm definitely tighter than a lot of people in the yoga class. I would love to gain a bit more flexibility.
