Morning Maniacs -

I managed to get up at 3:00 today. I just found out I start at Walgreen's tomorrow....so my long workouts are going to be history and I need to start getting my butt out of bed earlier again! Be back in a bit. I'm sore from that Serious Strength workout yesterday :)
 
Good Morning, I have lots to go out and do later this morning. I started my workout with 4 day split High intenity step cardio then did Cardio fusion all step premix skipping the w/up. I did 4 day split core adding some weight. When I come home from taking my granddaughters to school I will do 4 day split lower premix and some yoga. I was thinking maybe I would try yoga booty Ballet yoga core since I have not done it yet.

Lora, it seems to me that it is not really necessary to do all of the high impact to get a good workout. You seem to burn plenty of calories with your workouts even while your foot has been on the mend. I will have to try the Barry's with a lower step one of these days.

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

Yesterday I worked chest/back/shoulders and then did ab ripperx.

Chest:

Bench 75# 3 sets/6
Lat Pulldowns 70# 3 sets/8 (these got harder as I was up to 90# once)
Lawn Mowers 45's 3 sets/8
Arnold Presses with 20's 3 sets/8
Clean and Press with 50# bb 3 sets/8
Reverse Lateral Raises with 10's 3 sets/8
35 pushups
Chin Ups 6/5/4
Pullovers 45# db 3 sets/8
Worked my pecs off smith machine and did the presses with 30# this time. Last time did with 20# and was tough. Not sure why these got easier. Did 3 sets/8

My arms have gotten just a hair bigger. They measure 12 1/4" inches before pumped and 12 3/4 when pumped. I am sooooo pleased with this!!!!!!!

Today I have to go to work, but plan on working biceps/triceps before I take off.

ETA: Will be adding some new pictures of equipment and such here in a few. Check em out if you have time.
 
I gotta be fast, as I dried my hair and it looks like crap. First time in my life that I called the Salon and asked them to make it look better, so I'm going back in at 9:00 am. I'm a bit embarrased but I showed her a picture of a long shaggy look and I don't have near the amount of layers that are in the picture and it looks choppy and yucky.

I ended up doing Kelly Coffey Myers Step Kickboxing. I followed better, but not perfect. Was even more fun and I LOVE the music....especially the last combo and music!! It's freakin' great and so is the calorie burn.......714 calories in 74". My new HRM is surely giving me slightly higher reads than my old one. I wonder which one is accurate? By how fat I am, I assume it was the old one!! LOL. I did the end kneeling punching sequence kneeling on the foam roller with 2 pound hand weights.

I also did Lotte Berk Essentials blast 10". Kundalini Yoga - Quick Fix - Balance & Joy (liked this one), Bye Bye Back Pain and Yoga To Go for Back Pain and Soothe and Release segments. I have a migraine and low back pain......it's TTOTM in 2 days!! JOY.....just in time for the new job, as usual.

Diane Sue - no - I have not gotten anything from Amy yet. Still waiting. Re: the impact and my foot.......it's only because of the Rebounder that I got such good workouts. It's amazing how high you can get your HR on that......that and the Spin Bike....although my bike is broken. I think the DH broke it!!

Lora- no that wasn't the place that I work at. It was just a bar/restaurant near here that we go to sometimes. Congrats on the job! I am sure you will do well. Thanks for the info on BBC.

I am planning on Barry's Full Body. I haven't previewed them all yet, so hopefully I will like this one.

Forgot to ask......are the premixes from the new DVDs posted anywhere on the Forum to print out for reference? I want to do the new CAthe's this week, but I'm not sure I want to do cardio every day and need to refer to the premixes.

Diane Sue - I wanted to do Kelly's cardio sculpt tomorrow but it's 70" long and that means it will take me about 75-80" to complete it....cuz I'm such an ADD girl. I don't know if I should do it and cut some of the leg portions out as I go......as my legs are pretty sore from that Serious Strength workout yesterday, as is my core, low abs, glutes and biceps......was a good workout. I'm impressed....but it was LONG.
 
Meg - I hated that one.....as it's a body weight DVD and body weight exercises exacerbate my injury. It's tough though. Good luck.

Funny I hated the total body Barrys too. I only did it one time. I want to get Kelly's new sculpt dvd. I put in my cart at Amazon with some books for my granddaughter but then found out it does not have free super saver shipping. So, I still have not ordered it yet. Wow on the calorie burn. I wonder how many I burned yesterday with that one and the new Cathe KB?? I was checking out AMy's and I think a lot of people that ordered right away have not gotten their shipping notice yet. So I bet they are still on their way:) Got to go get finished here.

OMG!!!! I just finished my bicep work. I will do triceps when I get home as I have run out of time.

I have been practicing alot off preacher bench with a heavy barbell of 75# and have been doing good with it for some time now. I thought it was time to "pull a rabbit out of the hat" and do it like a regular bb curl standing. So I did, and not only that. I did it in 3 sets/6. Before that I grabbed the 45's and curled them in concentration curl 3 sets/4's. I work these better in negative fashion. I tried to go with db's curls with 30's and could only pull off about 2 for each arm as I went so heavy that I think I am just done with curls for the day.

I watched something on NGC last night I guess that stuck in my head. There was this man who curled a frying pan in about a min or two. Takes 180# of pressure to curl a frying pan. I was really impressed. The guy had big arms, but not enormously so. I thought if he can curl a frying pan then I can try to go up in my weights, and I did!!!!!! So now I have to use this method for chest work (that is my struggle still)
 
I quit my job today. My boss crossed the line with me. On Sunday, the business was slow. I am not a manager or crew leader so did not think I had the authority to let myself or another leave earlier and only had 1 hour to go so we just tried to find what we could do to get done and waited for customers to come in. I guess I could have called him, but since only 1 hour to go, I didn't. My boss called me "a little girl" and said, "I can't handle the leadership responsibility" of letting myself or another go home. WTH??? At that point, I threw my visor hat at him and told him I would not sit and listen to the crap any longer. I am done! I held my dignity and left as I would not sit there and be spoken to like that. He was disrespectable and not professional at all. I cannot work under him anymore at this point. I was really more mad then I have ever remember being. That is unhealthy and I don't want to be there anymore. I have no respect for him.

Thanks. I need to go on elliptical. I am still very upset and I don't want to waste my anger on just thinking about this too much. It is over, but I have this bitterness now that I have to take care of. So I am gonna watch the exorcist and get on the elliptical. LMAO!!!!
 
Toasty -sorry about your stupid manager. It sucks when people are disresctful in the work place. For some reason, I don't exactly think you're crushed over not working though?? More time to work out, right?

Diane Sue - Thanks for the link - hopefully, it will load on my piece of crap comptuer. You probably burned over 1000 calories yestday. Between that and your disciplined diet....no wonder you look so amazing. I'm really struggling with diet cuz I'm PMSing and I'm always famished. Can you tell me how you get up in the morning, work out so hard and then only drink coffee for breakfast and not eat food until lunch time? I'd drop over if I did that. Is the myth that you can stretch your stomach true? Say, for instance, that since I've been home, I've been eating more than I used to, do you think I need to go hungry and maybe I'll get used to it? I'm so frustrated. I've even been drinking protein shakes instead of eating food and I still am hungry....so I'm not sure it's not enough protein............but more that I'm just a little piggy! I wake up starving and then I'm even hungrier after my workout! (ETA: forgot to mention that I had an Asian Salad from McD's just now with the Ginger Sesame dressing and this time, I loved the dressing. I guess I needed to acquire a taste for it!) They did away with the SW salad at the McD's around here. Said it was just a "summer" item.)

Well yes, more time to work out. With Christmas coming and bills still needing to be paid, I will still have to find work for now. We may be able to manage. I am not sure. I still can't believe this happened so I gotta go downstairs now and run on elliptical before I crash from just being worn out from how upset he got me.
 
I finished my workout and ran my errands. Took way to long. Two banks, Target and Walmart. I left Walmart awhile ago and I was so hungry. I ate a childrens cliff bar before I left but it wore off. I stopped at Schlotskys and picked up a salad. Hardly anything on it. I got the chicken ceasar one planning on using my own dressing. Came home and added more cheese and some spinach w/ my fat free dressing. I ate the crackers and croutons in the car. I usually throw them out. I did the lower 4 day split premix and lifted heavier than the last time. Felt I got in a good workout. I then did Yoga Booty Ballet Yoga Core. I liked it pretty well. Planks, 1 arm planks and other core moves along with some pilates and yoga.
Wts were
w/up set squats I held 15# dumbbells
barbell front squats 65# 12 reps 2 sets
deadlifts on step 35# dumbbells 8 reps 2 sets
plie squats using high step 45# dumbbell 16 reps 2 sets
leg press 35# dumbbell 12 reps 2 sets
low plane lunges 25# dumbbells 2 sets 10 reps
leg press outer thigh with 5 # ankle weights 25# dumbbell
outer thigh with dynaband silver band
barbell squats various reps and speeds 75#
Calves 25# dumbbell first two sets, finished rest with both 25# dumbbells

Lora, I just am not good at eating till I am finished with things so I can relax. I do think the stomach shrinks down some when a person doesn't eat large volumes of food. I am not recommending it though. You probably need to eat. I do believe a lot of sugars can cause an increase in appetite too. I love the Aisian dressing on that salad.

Charlotte, I am sorry you had to put up with that. That was not right for your boss to talk to you like that.

Diane Sue - Do you think I'm abnormal cuz I wake up starving all of the time? I know that about sugar and I've been watching my sugar grams.....only the one thing I have yet to quit is my dried cranberries and I know they are high in sugar. I haven't eaten my daily "candy" except for that one day a week ago. I've also cut out my granola bars due to sugar and the fact they are processed and I usually eat an apple with a slice of low-fat swiss cheese for my snack or I tried a protein drink today with my apple...but was still famished. I was so mad cuz I wanted to make a smoothie and the top of my blender has gone missing. I just spoke with my Mom and Good ol' Mom bought me a cheapo single serve blender for X-mas cuz I mentioned it to her when I was over there earlier. It's no Magic Bullet, but she said it's a Hamilton Beach and it says it works for smoothies! We shall see.

Toasty - I hear ya about Christmas. We won't even have money to buy for each other this year. Our household is starting to suffer pretty bad since I've been out of work so long. The DH has been being a real A Hole about it to me lately too. I'm sick of hearing about it! Too bad I can't "quit" him......well, I can - but then I'd be out on the street cuz his job has been supporting me!
 
Lora, I think I eat so much all day after I workout that I am not as hungry in the morning. My body has adjusted to that. I know they say not to eat late but I generally have some sort of snack (usually a protein is involved) before I go to bed. I think you will probably like the small blender. I have had a couple that had the large blender w/ the small one and the smaller one generally crushes up the ice and makes a better smoothie. I want to replace my Magic bullet. I have went through two now but do keep them on the counter and use them several times a day. Crushed ice works better than cubes. I think because I was using cubes my second bullet broke more quickly. They do sell a warranty. (I think they just give you a new base unit) They said they will sell me just the base for a much lower price as I do not need all of the mugs and lids etc.. I have the juicer as well. Have only used it once though. I really like that I can put my brewed decaf coffee into a mug and set it in the refrigerator. I pull them out when I want them and add ice and soy milk etc.. Now I sound like a commercial. LOL

Diane Sue - IMO, that's a lot of money to spend on a blender that breaks so soon.....even if you are using it daily!! Geez. That sort of sucks. I'd rather go thru a $12 blender a few times than spend on that good one and have it go bad! LOL. I always eat after 6:00 pm too. We usually eat dinner at 3:30 or 4:00 pm and I don't go to bed until 9:30 or 10:00, so I get hungry by 7:00 and usually eat something later. I've been eating that Kashi High protein cereal or a tiny Danon Light and Fit Yogurt with an apple and I know Toasty told me that the apple wasn't a good idea so late......but the fiber helps fill me up, as does the Kashi. I even tried protein drinks late like Toasty suggested, but they don't seem to satisfy me. I think I need to shrink my stomach....but I guess that will happen when I start my new job and can't eat all of the time!! Do you think I'll be okay doing Kelly's new Cardio Sculpt and just Fastforwrding thru some of the leg work (as my legs are pretty sore and I need to cut the workout down in time). I know you don't have it....but I was reading on VF and someone mentioned that it had a LOT of leg work.
Thanks for listening to me all day.....as I tend to blabber a lot when I'm nervous and I'm nervous about tomorrow.

Oh...and I ended up with a bit of a shorter, shaggier hair cut than I wanted.....but it will grow in and at least all of the bad stuff is gone. It's skimming my shoulders and is a bit too thin and straggly for my tastes.....but I think the girl did a decent job with what she had to work with.............we shall see what happens tomorrow when I style it.
 
Hey Girls!

So, this is my last day of not working out. Can you believe how long it's been? I can't. I don't think I've ever taken this long of a break. I sewed until 10:30 last night and then was back at it at 5am this morning. And guess what? NOBODY IS DRESSING UP NOW!!!!! At least I can go to bed early tonight and work out in the am. I'm so excited! My throat STILL hurts, but not as bad. Hopefully I will be getting better soon. A gal in my office has had a sore throat for 3 weeks!

Charlotte - I'm sorry that your boss talked to you like that. There is no reason for that kind of treatment. I'm glad you have working out to get your frustrations out though.

Lora - I do think that you can sort of shrink your stomach - or at least get yourself used to eating less, but I think that you burn so many calories every day and that is why you are so hungry. Maybe you are not eating the right things? Do you need more protein? You might be starving yourself? If you're waking up hungry in the middle of the night, you might need to re-evaluate your diet. That's not good.

Diane Sue - I'm with Lora - I think I'd pass out if I didn't have anything to eat before I worked out. :p But there is that fine line of too little/too much. I'm finding that half of a Carnation Instant Breakfast is about right (I know, too much sugar) unless it's cycling season and I as I mentioned before then I have to have a whole one and 3/4 of a piece of toast or else I'll bonk big time on an hour and a half ride.

I'll be happy to get back to my workouts now so I can start eating a little bit more. I've really been trying to keep my eating in check more than usual. And they say that prednisone makes you hungry and it wasn't really until today. Good thing I go off of it tomorrow.
