Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Tues Feb 6

You all get up so earlier than me. By the time I post, everyone has been on. Not complaining, just observing.

I can't imagine burning over 1,000 calories in a day from exercising! WOW! Good job.

Sounds like everyone is in the right mind and doing very well on working out today. I just ate breakfast and will start my workouts in a couple of hours, so I'll be on again to post it.

Diane Sue, you've given me some great pointers on how you workout, and I can't tell you how great it is to get this information. I do have to tell you that I'm not as strong as you yet, therefore I'm going to have to modify some of your workouts in the rotations. I know you have given me your time to explain and even went back to look at some of the workouts, and for that I'm so grateful. Soon I'll get there, in the meantime, please don't be upset with me, if I modify. I want to post what I've done during my days, and just letting you know why it might be a little different from your suggestions.

When I look through these posts, I can see a great support team going on. I think it is wonderful, and best of all, I'm here with you all.

I consider my body (for my age) to be in really good shape, but you all are lifting and running way beyond me, you must look exceptional. Way to go. I'll keep pushing/challenging myself to do the best I can.

I'm not intimidated, but just proud of all of you. And my goal, is be just like you one day. And it will happen.

So after my workout, I'll post it today. Talk with you all later.

Janie - It's important to be smart about working out and not to over push your limits. I speak from experience....as I have this neck/back injury I have to work out around and I can't do everything that everyone does.....and I'm still trying to be "okay" with that.......so I guess I'm trying to convince myself here also! LOL. These ladies inspire and challenge me to be better! Diane Sue is definitely a wealth of information (as are a lot of others on this thread) and by looking at her....you don't doubt that she doesn't have some discipline. You can always count on all of us for emotional support, etc. If you've been reading this thread, I'm sure you know we can get a bit crazy and off topic at times.......but that's part of the fun also.

Amber - I'm not going to the PO till the end of the week with my Ebay stuff so (since you're hoping to get your package by Saturday), I dropped yours in the mail just now with stamps on it........so Michigan isn't too far from Ohio ......fingers crossed! Let me know when it arrives. What big city are you near in Michigan? Is it below zero there today? So which Ecstasy scent are you hoping to get? I think the one with cherry sounds yummy.....but then they all sound good to me. I think I ordered 3 or 4.....can't remember.........I WAS working then!

Janie,

You got a great spirit about you. Your attitude rocks! You know what is best for yourself, and you will reach goals when you do the best you can.

Lora,

Good luck with Coca Cola. I worked for them once thru temp agency. I was suppose to work 2 weeks and them become permanent. I just had my son and just got off maternity leave. A few women could not believe I just had a baby and I think they were jealous and they didn't want me to stay. They hardly gave me any work to do..it was beyond boring. This was in Maryland too. Different times, different people. I hope you have better luck.

Charlotte~~

Janie, - You are so cool! I'm so glad you are here! You will be lifting the same as us if you continue down this road. Its inevitable. You posted at 2:26 p.m. and said you just had breakfast. What time do you get up? LOL! I'm eating my 4th meal by then!

Finished WO. Although my WO was 90 min, I still feel a tad underworked? Meaning, I think I should have done a little more cardio. That's alright though.
I did Tracey Staehles (I know I spell her name wrong all the time) Kickbox challenge and full body sculpt. The DVD says 90 min, but I skipped the kickbox cooldown, and the second warm up, so it was 75min, then I did 15 min of yoga, just basic movves from Fitness mag.
The sculpt was good, great hamstring and outer thigh work, really burned. I used 8# instead of her 5#. The shoulder work was real good. I though it lacked a little bicep, so I did extra curls. It could use more ab, but the planks were good. It is a good one for a full body work.

Janie- ditto what Charlotte said! I am so glad you are here!

Lora- good luck with that job!

Randi- are you going to tell your mom? LOL!

Deb- great job! I love working legs now, but I used to HATE it too.

Dallys- glad the pup is better. Toby is so muh better now. Just about all healed. Neosporin works great LOL! He was good about not rubbing all the med off too.

Amber- that's funny about DH. Good luck doubling up tonight.

Charlotte- I am laughing at the dogs taking over your house! Feeling good today.

Anne- how is the WO today?

Well, gotta get cleaned up and change. Going to chill and watch GH. Missed it yesterday.

Hi All!

This morning I decided I should ride the bike on the trainer instead of doing Plyo since my back is still hurting - but not as bad. I just worried about the twists and jumps. I don't want to go backwards.

Amber - you were right - yesterday was shoulders/chest/tris or whatever. You're so smart! You must keep Char and me in line. Good luck at the derma today. Let us know.

Diane Sue - I know those water pressure things take skin off b/c I accidentally did that to my toe once. OUCH! I know I shouldn't have that much flab there but I do. It's the darndest thing. It's way more than I should have since my biceps aren't flabby, nor is the rest of my upper body. I don't get it. I will start to add on like you said. Thanks. I know I still need to work on my diet. When I mess up it's with too many carbs. Oh, yes, I'm still doing P90X.

Meg - Could you imagine us all together for a weekend. Oy, as Debbie would say!

Lora - That's some crazy calorie burn! You made me wonder if it was Kenpo X that hurt my back? I thought it was Legs & Back but it's my lower back on the right side - where I hurt it long ago doing deadlifts. Hmmm...

Storm - Good to have you back in the workout world!

Debbie - Did you actually do deadlifts? You said elevated deads? I was sure you didn't do those anymore.

Dallys - I'm sorry your poopster doesn't feel good. I hope it's getting better though. Don't you love this warmer weather? We're supposed to have 55 today!!! Woo hoo!!! It's about time!

Char - Tony's gonna be angry that we're screwing up his program!!! :p

Randi - I'm no expert, but I don't think fat burners are necessarily a bad thing if you're not going to do them long term. I took some EAS ones for a short while, but the caffeine in them gave me major migraines. :( It was when I was on the BFL workout program and eating program at the same time.

Janie - I don't usually post early either. That's why my posts are so long. SO MUCH to answer!!! :)

Well I did Butts & Guts. I modified some, but not as much as I thought I would have to. Since I did ab work yesterday, I didn't do the core work today. Glad too, because, wow, it was hard! Loved every minute of it. Right now drinking a well deserved protein shake with banana. I'm thinking perhaps a 20-30 minutes of cardio way later tonight. We'll see how I'm feeling by then.

Debbie I go to bed around 12-12:30 pm and get up around 8-8:30 am. If you are on the East side, then you are 3 hrs. earlier than me. You've come along way baby, yourself. Haven't you? I've tried to do one of your rotations once, and again, I'm almost there, but not yet.

Thank you ladies for the warm hearts you've shown me. It can't get any better than this.

Hope everyone's days and nights are full of wonderfulls.

Amber...

I know..Tony will be mad. he he.

So I took pictures of my plyo work today. You all are gonna laugh...blurry and all. I just hit the timer and did my thing. So I feel good even though I am messing up Tony's program. he he

Suz - I have been testing the waters with elevated deads. They seem to not bother my back. Don't ask me why because I don't know. I use only 10# db's, though, so nothing heavy. I just like that feeling of the hamstring and glute getting worked, I miss doing deads. My back has been amazingly good lately - knock on wood.

Suz - It's very possible you hurt your back doing Kenpo X. I'm not sure exactly what moves will do it, but I've heard of many people hurting their back's with kickboxing. Be careful when doing your kicks so you don't fully straigten your leg. Make sure you keep your abs held tightly. That's about all the pointers I can think of right now. Hope you feel better soon. I hurt my back badly doing too heavy of deadlifts. I keep my deadlifts pretty light these days. I know I could go heavier, but I dont' want to risk it.

Hi there! I'm another late poster. I'm way behind on the posts usually. My elbow is still hurting. I didn't think it was bad at first and thought I'd caught not getting an injury in time, but no go. I think it might be tennis elbow. My work is really aggravating it today. I'm sure I did it while trying to lift a heavy barbell over my head. Sucks getting old!

I'll answer a few here:

Debbie- I'm doing a rotation with Slim Series and Cardio Coach. Doing 2 Slims then a CC- rinse and repeat.:) Although the 5lbers I used yesterday might be to heavy for my elbow. Can you believe that? I'm so mad at myself for over doing it. I know better!

Lora- I'll have to check out that HRM. Mine is so off lately. Said I burned 77 calories this morning. LOL! Might as well of stayed in bed if that were true.

Suz- I'm so happy it's warming up! Looks like you have an injury too. Don't you hate it? Make me mad!

Janie- Not all of us are real heavy lifters, so don't feel bad. I tried to be (oy!) and now I have a bad elbow and almost had a bad hip. Only compete with yourself. It's the best way.:)

Hey to everyone else... no time for all of ya, sorry!:)

Dang! Gotta get back to work!

Hi Debbie,

Didn't know you were having a problem with your back. I had a back muscle pull the other month, and when I started feeling better, I added 10# also, it was soooo scary. I'm now doing 35# for deadlifts, when I use to do 40#. It takes awhile to get back where we were, and as you know we need to be cautious. Those are great exercises for me, and want to continue with them. Hope you recover better than before.

Dallys,
I'll take your advice and compete with myself. That's the only way to do it.

Good afternoon Maniacs!!

Oh Lora..I'm sorry..see how excited I get about little things!

Char/Suz..I'm here to keep you in line crack the whip!!! No actually remember I just freaked out when the boys lost my book. So I downloaded something an old P90x'er put into an excel worksheet and it keeps track of everything. So I looked at our last few weeks...yes weeks. We only have 2 left!!!

Janie Janie...you are such a sweetie. I'm not hardcore lifting heavy yet..but these ladies are inspiring me to great heights.

Ok.. The derm doctor said I have lichen planus..likely from the melatonin (herb supplement) I was taking to help me sleep. She refuses to believe it's from haircolor. Refuses I say!!! It will go away but may take up to 3 weeks. Everything else came back negative. Freaked me out a week ago because she sees this with a lot of Hepatitis C patients. So I was majorly scared of getting that diagnosis having spent over a decade as an ICU nurse getting needlestuck all the time! It was negative as well as all the auto-immune disorders. Insert one big sigh of relief!!

So...packing for Saturday begins now...

Amber

Lora....I forgot to answer you..I live just over the line in Michigan. The closest city is Toledo, I work just south of toledo. So maybe it will get here, if not I will have a nice surprise waiting for me.

Hi to all I missed...gee pylo or chest shoulders tri's ( or whatever it is) can't decide which first or to just make my week late again like last week.

Amber

Janie Dallys..and all
Thanks..it is a tremendous relief!

Anne..after all these results came in I came home and did a color test and it after one hour I had no reaction. So I guess I am clear to go forth and color these hideous grey roots!!! i'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Char..I told my husband you were doing 40# on lawnmowers and his mouthed dropped....this all came up because he came down into the forbidden (during my 75 minutes) basement and said my form was bad when I was doing lawnmowers with 25# just to test the waters. LOL You are a machine!!!

Janie - My low back problems started way back in the early 90's when I did a 90# deadlift. Hip went out of joint and never really got better until last summer when I hung on a bar. Hip popped back into place and has been fine ever since. I'm still afraid of doing deads, though, because I sometimes still get low back pain so I have to be really careful. I was in chronic pain since about 1990. I had to quit working out altogether and then when I gained all that weight I decided to go back to it, pain or no pain. I worked through the pain and took many days off to let it subside. Now I hardly ever have back pain and I make sure I hang at least once or twice a week.

Dallys - Have fun with that rotation. Sorry to hear about that elbow, that sucks. And I also get mad at myself when I know I'm doing something that will hurt me and then I do end up getting hurt. We all do it. Does icing it help? Maybe some Aleve?
