Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Finally Friday April 11

Morning Maniacs -

YAY .....it's Friday!!

This morning I did Revolution Kettlebell Intermediate Workouts A & B back to back. I added a Cathe stretch on for the cool/down stretch. Workout was 60" and I burned 407 calories. Not a real high calorie burner. I did kicboxing moves during the breaks in the first half of the workout, but as I got fatigued, I dropped in weight of KB's and also started taking part of the breaks. I used my 15-35 lb KBs.

Will need to price a 40 pounder soon. I can only go really heavy with certain moves. The funny thing about KB's is the weight load. As mentioned before, doing chest presses with a KB feels much different than using DB's. The weight is distributed differently. Normally, I press 25 lb DBs, but just a 20 lb KB feels much heavier. Weird.

I ended up ordering the Burt's Bees nite cream and eye cream to go with my day cream.

Diane Sue - I know Lush carries skin care for oily skin. Have you ever checked it out? I can't really recommend much for that skin type, as I've always had dry/sensitive skin. However, the botanical line I used to sell, Arbonne.....has some wonderful skin care for oily skin and you can probably order it online. It's a bit pricey but it's worth it. I started using it when I turned 30. I had never had a problem with acne until my 30's when I started breaking out....so I researched skin care and ingredients and started being very careful what I put on my skin, but Arbonne is what I was using when I finally got it to clear up.

Deb - the newest Drowning Pool song is called Enemy and it rocks. I got your Avon total and I don't think it's right. Just 2 of those Flip It Kits I ordered are $18 each......so my total should be more like $40 something. Let me know.

Have great workouts everyone.

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

Hell can freeze over today..I AM GOING ON MY BIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My plans were messed up yesterday and I ate more carbs thinking I was going on bike ride and now my weight is 120 again, but I am not worried. I am going to go 20 miles..maybe more..depending on how I feel and go faster and eat very lean today. Yes...tuna fish is on the menu several times for me today!!! lol

Lora,

Sounds like you are really doing great with those kettle bells. I still plan on getting some, but just not right now. Too many other things on agenda.

Good morning. I guess it is YogaX for today. And I have more bigtime house cleaning..and prob the store. LOooking foward to the yoga as it has been a while since I have done any.

Char--you rock it with the bike woman!! Have a fun a safe ride.

Lora- I just LOVE Avon!! I order all the time from girl at work. I love their makeup, have way to much of it lol!!!

RE: Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Finally Friday April 1...

Hi Everyone,

Ally and Diane Sue thanks for letting me know more about the Burts Bee Cream. I'm gonna check it out. I think that's where I've seen it is at Target! I've paid more than that on face creams from Estee Lauder, couldn't hurt to try this. I'm tired of spending a lot of money on face creams, hope this one is worth the buck!

Diane Sue do you use it?

Char - That top looks really good on you. Enjoy your ride today!

Debbie - I never understood why you listed BSS's for quads because I always felt it more in my hamstrings and glutes. Well, this morning I lowered the step to three risers because of the balance issues and all of a sudden...HELLO...my quads were firing like mad.

Lora - You never answered my question about the rockin Body workout. Is it a good workout?

Nice job everyone!

Linda

Good Morning, I started my workout with Sharon Twombly's All Body Cardio stopping at the abs, then I did Kelly Coffey's Cardio Sculpt Fitness Premix cardio skipping the w/up. I am going to do some other weight work in a bit and stretch. I had grandchildren here overnight and had to get them to school this morning. So while I was out I stopped and put gas in my car. My head is always spinning when I look at the price:0 I have people that dh works with coming for dinner tomorrow. I have way to much junk food here. I think I might go back out and get stuff for a veggie tray and make a healthy dip. I have chips and salsa. I am making enchiladas (4% fat beef and lowfat cheese) rice, corn, rolls and a frozen chocolate dessert. I think I need to get up tomorrow and see if I can burn at least a 1000 calories LOL

Lora, I have a friend in California that sells Arbonne and is always sending me e mails. My dd gets me Cetaphil to clean my face with. That is one she recommends. She also gets me CeraVe to use as a body moisturizer. She scolded me when I told her I put some scented oil from the Body Shop in it. Told me why don't I just use the oil as perfume. I am still using the Nocturne form Aromaleigh at night after my Retin A micro soaks in. I like that. DD says a lot of the so called natural stuff is the same plants that people experience allergic reactions to she keeps telling me to be careful what I am putting on because I have easily irritated skin. I had a sample of the oily skin cleanser for blemish prone skin with calmine in it from Lush. The first time I used it I had a terrible rash. I think it was a combination of products though. I had used Joey's Pure Pores Mask and put my retin A on. I should have known better. I

Sandy, I have not tried the Burts Bees yet. Lora's skin always looks nice in her pictures. I do like the price and the ingredients look pretty good. I was kind of thinking of trying the Naturally ageless one. It is supposed to firm and tone. There was a serum there too that I thought might be good. I posted above to Lora about some of the stuff I use. I hate paying high prices for stuff that doesn't seem to work any better than the lower priced stuff.

Charlotte, hope you get your bike ride in today.

DianeSue - I keep forgetting to tell you that I was completely blown away the other day when I realized that Bill was your DH. I had no idea! I know I am bit behind on things. I was search through old posts for something when I stumbled across it.

RE: Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Finally Friday April 1...

Low back is really bother me lately, I really need to start stretching more or I'm going to be sorry. I need one of my husbands awesome massages. Maybe I can con him into doing that for me tonight. (insert evil laugh here). I am embarrassed about the weights I used today, but I had no choice. I did get to use my leg press machine, though, and that was a blast!!!

Linda - Nice workout! Those BSS's kill me every time.

Lora - Thanks for the song and check your pm.

Everyone else, have great workouts!

RE: Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Finally Friday April 1...

FYI - I am finding really high end skin care products from France and Italy at T. J. Maxx for anywhere between 4.99 and 8.99. I was concerned about the products being expired, however, I learned on Oprah, that the expiration only begins after it is opened from the original packaging.

Anyway, Dianne Sue - I found a great cream there that I love and I have very oily skin in the summer. It is by an Italian company called Venus - and it multivitamin cream. I love it. It is really light but works great - and smells sort of cirtus. The packaging is light blue.

Anyway, I can usually find it for 4.99 at TJ Maxx. They have another cream that is much heavier so make sure you vitamin (in Italian) on the package.

RE: Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Finally Friday April 1...

Finished bike ride. Went the 20 miles. Starting was tricky...like I ate a bag of marshmellows night before. Felt so sluggish and the wind was bad, but I pushed thru it and now I feel satisfied. I don't feel like I usually do when I ride my bike...alittle more on the tired side today, but could be because I cleaned house and mowed grass and hauled stuff around in the yard yesterday as it was non stop. I still need to work my abs and shower as well. Oh, I did stop by a nursery place that I usually go to. The lady there is always so happy and sweet and I love the unusual variety of flowers there. She told me today she is 56 years old. I almost fell over. She told me that the flowers make her happy so being happy is the key to looking and staying young?

RE: Hardcore Fitness Maniacs for Finally Friday April 1...

Forgot to tell you ladies that dh had skin cancer. The doc froze it and so there shouldn't be anymore issues, but just wanted to mention I have never been so worried when he first spit out the words.

I finished my workout today with section 2 of Sweatfest Sculpt (like the balance work) then did the 3 lower exercises from Butts and Guts bonus exercises. Getting things ready for tomorrow.

Charlotte, sounds like you got plenty of exercise doing yardwork:) Sorry your dh had skin cancer. Mine dh has had one and my dd who is a Derm Pa had one. Back to skin products again. She said that the only thing that has been proven effective in preventing skin cancer as far as creams is SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic. I guess Ferulic acid is an excellent anti oxident. She uses that cream now after studying up on it. Says she doesn't notice anything special but does not want skin cancer. She has seen people let those things go till they have to have a huge hole cut in their faces to try to remove them. It is scarey and when someone finds an unusual spot they should have it looked at asp. Hers was a tiny spot that wouldn't heal. I wondered if we ate lots of rice bran if it would help. I did a search and it has ferulic acid in it.

Linda, yes, Bill is my hubby. Generous and passionate:D That is why I love him so much.

Debbie, why in the world would you be embarrased about the weights. They are still great. Hope you get your massage. I am sure your dh won't mind.

So, I did most of YogaX. I was running out of time. I liked it alot. My body feels so good. It has been way to long since I have done yoga.
So last night, I realized, I must not be eating enough, or I am missing something important in my diet. At work,, I ate just a sirloin stk around 6. But by 9, I was feeling slightly lightheaded. Felt it the day before too. So I am trying to track and make sure I get enough. Much tougher WO tomorrow so I need to be well nourished and fueled.

Char- that's scary. Here I am going tanning the last few months. It is addicting. Stupid, but addicting. Kinda like smoking. I did read that tanning is like a slight high, and that people crave it. It is so relaxing for me. Guess I should look into some self tanners. Hope all stays well with your DH.

I have friends coming over to watch the Red Sox and Yankees game. The boys (silly) like the RS, and the girls (smarties) like the Yanks. Should be quite fun~~~

Linda - sorry....thought I answered that question. It is a decent workout....but you have to be willing to really put a lot into it versus doing a Cathe where you just follow. I am used to doing Non-cathe and having to make it intense. The Rockin Body ones are more fun and a bit more intense than Hip Hop Abs. I like them more. They are easy enough to follow and have some jumping in them. Sean T is an egomaniac though...if you can handle him. Don't get me wrong....he's okay...and he's passionate about what he does.....but he's VERY confident with himself!!

Toasty -do you have EArshot's album from 2002? I just heard a song I love. I want the CD!!!! Do you have it? They rock. Loved this song. Can't remember the name of it though. Thanks for the compliment about my skin the other day. I appreciate it. I am the skin care guru. I have been doing facials on myself since my teens. I'm just a beauty product junkie! LOL. (oh.........and who was that beached whale in that pic you posted!!! JUST KIDDING ....you are svelte girlfriend! Don't know why you fret about weight. I was so depressed/stressed from work today.....came home and immediately went for some chocolate. Thought I died and went to heaven......but it really just went to my butt/thighs!!! LOL.

Anyone who has questions about skin care...........I'm a huge junkie for skin care and beauty products and have used MANY different brands....but I'm not all about paying top dollar for the cosmetic counters.....more into the natural/botanical and affordable lines. I mostly order online products or Burt's Bee's....etc.

Meg - I just started buying Mark by Avon. I wore my new stuff today that I got from online and I think I was a bit heavy handed with it. Ended up with a super smoky eye and I don't like to be that dramatic at work. The eyeliner I used really layed down a lot of pigment. I need to get used to the textures of the products....or I'll look like a little Ho Baby!! YOu look very pretty in your Avatar! You have been looking so good lately. Life must be agreeing with you?

Diane Sue - You've never tried the Arbonne though? I wish I could help you more with skin care....but I'm dry/sensitive. If you do try the Burt's Bee's....maybe you can just lay the lotion down thicker under your eyes and mix the lotion with a small amount of water (or spritz your chin, forehead and oilier areas with water and then apply the lotion) when applying to oilier areas. This thins it out and lays it down as a lighter covering. I do this with some of my thicker creams when I apply to my chin, forehead, etc. Works like a charm. Also, you can blot of excess to your nose, etc with a tissue after the majority of the cream sinks in. Another brand to check out is Mario Badescu online. They have a service that you can fill out a form and they will send you samples for free for your skin care. They are a very reputable company. They are a spa/skin care clinic in NYC and I've used their stuff in the past. REasonably priced and very good. check it out.

Lisa - where have you been? Meant to ask you ....what the heck is the purpose of Farmer Walks in KB workouts....other than just being a functional move of walking carrying weight?

Hi Lora - Okay you said if we had any questions about skin care to ask you, so that's what I'm doing...help me please. I have combination skin and I like a moisturizer that doesn't feel heavy. I'm 46 years old and need something for my neck area. I also like to wear makeup that isn't heavy as well! What is "Mark" makeup by Avon?

Thanks!

Charlotte meant to tell you that I hope your DH is going to be alright since they removed it! That is scary, and that's why I've quit tanning at the salons. I do want color but don't want to risk getting skin cancer.

Hope you all have a great night and weekend! I'm going to workout my legs again. Then I'm gonna do some cardio this weekend. Haven't got that in yet except for walking. I need to do more than that!

Meg - You are doing good getting back into it!

Linda - I'm going to pm you! Got a question.

Debbie - Did you see my post yesterday? What do you think?
Great workout by the way. So, you're happy with your leg press huh???

Later ladies!

Hey guys,
sorry I've been absent for a while. I've been working A LOT at the family nursery transplanting and taking care of boorish customers. Good thing I'm in the greenhouse most of the time. Not fun when it's a full sun out 'cause the greenhouse can reach up to 110 degrees and 100% humidity. Sauna, anyone? :p I'm still working out like a maniac though.

Lora- Those walks are supposed to stablize your core. With that exercise, you use heavier weight than normal. I kind of don't see the point of it but if you go real heavy, you feel it more. Light to moderate to somewhat heavy, I personally think it's worthless. That walk is excellent for runners or anyone into sports.

Toasty- You look sexy! I love that new shirt on you. I'm sorry to hear about your DH. Thanks to you and Lora, I'm going to check out the Burt's Bees products tomorrow. You ladies are huge enablers. :p

Everyone else, you guys had awesome workout! Question for those into teeth, do you know how much it is roughly to bleach your teeth at the dentist's office?

Hope you all have a great evening. Take care!

Lisa

Sandy - I don't mind questions at all. I LOVE skin care. First off...to answer your question about Mark. Mark is a cosmetic line made by Avon. It's geared more towards the younger crowd....but I think I'm still in my 20's.......to be frank....I wasted most all of my 20's in a dope induced stupor (since I am a recovering drug addict)....so I'm reliving them now...LOL. My Mom and I joke that those years spent in that state "preserved" my skin cuz she can't believe I didn't age from those hard lived years of mine!! I tell her it was as if I'd been placed on ice for that decade!! LOL. Anyway...to get back to skin care. Like I was telling Diane Sue - Mario Badescu is a online (Salon spa in NYC) that has a service where you fill out a questionnaire and they send you samples for your skin type. Their products are really good and reasonable. I'm also a huge fan of Lush. www.Lush.com. They have a wonderful cream for combo skin called Imperialis. I use it in the Summer when I get a slight T-zone in the very humid weather here. I also love Burt's Bees. I don't think this new one I bought would be too terrible on combo skin. You could (Naturally Ageless). You could always use it with a light spritz of water on your t-zone to lighten it up a bit. I've also used Ole Henriksen which I really like. I think Sephora carries them and there is a website to order on. They make a really good combo skin one. They are a bit pricier. I've also used Arbonne which I mentioned to Diane Sue. I used to sell it. They sell online also. They are a bit more expensive....but it is a quality line and they make combo skin specific skin care. Other ones I've tried and liked are Clientele (which I purchased in a kit from QVC). Also, I've used various Body Shop products for skin care and have always been happy with them. That is what I used to buy when I needed "bargain" skin care. ONe of my current fave's is Eminence skin care...but they are expensive. The skin cream I bought was $55 just for the cream. Tallulah natural line is sold online and is wonderful. They make a vanilla bean scrub that is to die for!!! They are sold online on www.Talulahskincare.com They sell it(the Eminence line -- sorry....this got separated from that sentence) at www.buynatural.com. I'll let you investigate these options first. I don't want to put you on overload....but those are some of my fave's.....but I have more! Told you I was a skin care junkie!! Also - LET Me turn you onto mineral makeup if you like the natural look. I SWEAR by this stuff and recently converted Diane Sue (and maybe Toasty) over to Aromaleigh. www.Aromaleigh.com. It's cheaper than Bare Escentuals (the original mineral makeup line). It takes a bit of getting used to a mineral foundation....but once you get the hang of it...there's no turning back. It's pure enough to sleep in.....should you get too tired to take it off and it's actually good for your skin and clears blemishes and the minerals are wondeful for skin tone, etc. Aromaleigh doesn't have the luminiscent quality that Bare Escentuals has ....so you can buy an additional product if you want a bit of a luminence (which I prefer since I have this 48 year old complexion). Diane Sue likes Aromaleigh's matte finish better. It's a matter of preference. I use both brands and the kicker is that it never goes bad.....so you can collect it like a fool and not worry about it getting outdated. The only thing that can happen is that it can lose a bit of it's natural sunscreen. Oh...that's another good selling point......mineral makeup has a natural SPF of 15!!! Okay....I should work for the company, huh? I'll quit babbling now. I'm passionate about skin care. Always wanted to be a makeup artist or facialist.....but ended up being a stupid medical secretary. My creativity is stifled!!! Feel free to ask more specific questions if you have any. If you want....feel free to take it to a PM if you feel more comfortable discussing it there.

Diane Sue - Ole Henriksen is another line that makes good oily skin care.
