Hardcore Fitness Maniacs Check In for Tuesday 5-16

Cathlete
Morning Fitness Maniacs -

This morning I did Super Cycle with Mindy Mylrea. Okay, I seriously dread my bike & ellipitcal and got this DVD so I would crosstrain more and I really forced myself to do this. This is VERY hard for me. I've never rode my bike standing up like she does. This is very CardioCoach like in the music and the way it is an interval workout taking your heartrate thru various levels. Half the time she said you were at your 3 or high 3, I was at the top of my 4. Maybe I need to learn to work up to this a bit and not make it so hard on myself and I would enjoy it more. My HR was peaking at 165 (which is pretty high for me). This is killer on the legs too. I really need to practice this (weakness of mine).
Seasun's Straight Up Step would have been way more fun this morning! LOL!

I haven't been able to sleep very well lately. I'm having some severe trouble getting sleepy at night.

Charlotte - I stayed up 'till 10 pm last night burning CD's for you. I burned Statdium Arcadium (double CD) by the Chili Peppers and Theory of a Deadman for you. I think I need your addy again. Please either post it here or email me. I can also burn you a Puddle of Mud if you want (but probably not till the weekend). I hope you like them. Let me know when they arrive and I can send you a listing of the Track titles since there was no where to put them in the CD case. Stand out tracks for me on the Chili Peppers are: Storm in a Teacup (my all time favorite, right now and just what is a Storm in a Teacup?), Readymade, Hump de Bump, She's Only 18, and Warlocks. It has funk, funk metal, and slower stuff. It came with a DVD also that has the video Dani California & Making of, as well as a commentary on each song (I've only watched part of it....quite interesting. My boys are aging (aren't we all). Anthony's hair is long again!!

One last comment about the "dear to my heart" discussion yesterday of addiction. For those of you who are newer...I have 18 years clean. I'm pretty proud of it and open about it around here. I wouldn't change a thing about my past, as it's made me the person I am today and I could have never gotten to this point without going thru what I went thru. I met my DH at an NA meeting (LOL). He has 20 years clean. Now you ladies know why I have 9 million exercise DVD....addictive personality!

Have great workouts. I'll try to check in later. Hi to everyone!

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

Let me tell you........I finished my last workout of Boot Camp at 9:30 pm last night!! GOSH!!!! I did PLB in hacked up pieces as my evening was very interrupted, but finished!!!! My determination is full blown at this point to finish my workouts no matter how late it is!!!!!

Today I will do the Challenge Circuit w/plyo's inbetween and Core Max 1. Tonight should go much better. No running around after work.

Lora,

You did what for me???? I will have to send you something for all that. Yeah, I like the song "She hates me" off Puddle of Mud.

Marietta,

I ain't inoring you or anyone else here. I am trying to read the post, but I read them fast now. I heard about the girl you were trying to help. Makes me mad cuz seems like she doesn't appreciate what you are trying to do for her. I am so excited for you with the Marathon coming up. Maybe one day I can do a marathon...never know! Good Luck with it, not that you need it. Have fun too!!!! Miss you, buddy!!!

MISS EVERYONE ELSE TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope you all have such a great sweaty day!!!!! LOL!

Charlotte~~

Toasty - Did you say you don't have Blood Sugar Sex Magik by the Chili Peppers either? That's a cryin' shame and if it's true, I'll have to burn that tonight. I need to make a copy for my car anyway. Do you not have it? Is the Puddle of Mud CD you like the one with Control on it? I think that's the one with She Hate's Me on it, right? It's called Come Clean. I'll burn that this weekend, but I'll burn Blood Sugar tonight (maybe both....we'll see), but I need your addy.

Good morning Maniacs,

I'm feeling bad that I haven't had time to spend on this check in lately. Feel like a hit and run. Sorry. I had a massage after work yesterday (it was lovely) and then home, try to visit with DH. Don't want to appear anti-social to him and have my nose stuck in this computer all the time... I love Fridays though, my day off by myself, then I can do that.

Today's workout was Ab Jam and then I moved to the Bowflex and did upper body workout, combined with some free weight stuff as I like to work shoulders with free weights better than the Bowflex. Also like free weights for biceps. Moved up to 15# DB's for those (finally). I had a mirror in here so I could see and damn, I impressed myself LOL! I'll also do a Cardio Coach workout on my bike after work today.

Charlotte, way to stick to a plan! You are one determined woman and I salute you!!! Cracked me up about PLB "hacked up". Hey, whatever it takes!

Lora, your bike workout sounds like a Spinerval. I know they are really good, but I can't hardly face the trainer when the weather is good. Just a dread factor there. I'm going to a quiet country road and do Cardio Coach, one earphone in and a mirror on my sunglasses so I can see/hear traffic (if any). I have racer friends that swear by Spinervals, but they do them in wintertime only.

Way to go on 18 years clean and your DH too. You have much wisdom when it comes to this subject as you've been there, much more insight that us on the outside.

Hope everyone's workouts are good today.

Jeanette

This morning I did Step Blast and the abs of All Step. Had a great workout. I was in my zone for 47 minutes and burned 314 calories. Pretty happy about that.

My bi's are killing me this morning! Wow! I sure can tell I worked them hard yesterday! I figured my back would be sore as well because of the pull-ups but its not.

Lora - you are such an inspiration! I'm glad you shared your story, you are solid proof that you can overcome anything. You are a strong lady and I'm honored to know you! Also, do you ever take rest days? I don't remember seeing one rest day from you since I've joined this check-in. Just wondering.

Hope you all have great workouts!

Debbie - No ...I don't take rest days any longer. I used to ...but since I've been trying to lose weight, I haven't. I keep saying I will when I lose a few pounds, but in the past when I wasn't trying to lose, I really had a hard time taking them anyway, cuz I get too "mental" without working out. I think I'm better off taking my 5 rest days twice a year when we go to Vegas and doing an occasional easier cardio and yoga day. However, I've been feeling pretty beat lately, but just when I get like this, I wake up the next day feeling good....so I keep going. I used to get grief for it around here, but they know I'm hard headed and will just keep doing what I want. LOL!!

Thanks for your comment about my story. That makes me feel good. Sometimes I feel like such a freak and so different than everybody. I always have felt this way....I guess it comes with the territory of the disease.

Good Morning,

I've been up for a while, but I'm SO sore! Today is leg and ab day.
I had a decent size breakfast, and am hoping to feel a better to do a good workout.

Jeanette, good job on increasing your weight for bicep curls!

I'll be back later to see what everyone else is up to today.

Is anyone following Cathe's rotation this month?

Susan C.M.

Hey Maniacs!!

Let me start by saying that my co-worker is not her today...Now that I've got that off my chest I'll move on.

This morning I did IMAX Extreme w/o the weight sections. I hadn't planned on doing that, but that's what ended up happening. I haven't done this workout before....will be doing it again!!

Lora - Sorry you haven't been getting much sleep....what the heck is going on?? Lora, because of you I know that an addiction can be overcome, but like you said, my friend has to want that for herself. I also feel I have an addictive personality...one reason why I never would even try...where grew up,it was always offered to me, but I saw the damage it could do and knew it would be a BIG mistake. They say it can only take just one time...scarey.

Toasty - Bless your heart!! Don't you worry about me....I understand. You keep that determination because it's all gonna work out for you. Thanks for the well wishes for the run....it's not the full marathon...I'm just doing the half. One of these days I may attempt the full...maybe.

Debbie - I love when my bi's get DOMS....just doesn't happen very often...but when I they get sore, I know I'm worked them. What bicep workout did you do?

Netta - Please don't feel bad...it's all good! We will be here no matter what. You finally got that massage....awesome!! I need to get one for myself along with a pedicure...need one really bad. Need a lot of pampering actually...a whole darn day...nah, make that a week!! Your bike ride sounds wonderful...enjoy.

Susan - Why are you SO sore? Hope you're feeling up to working out...if not, that's okay too!! I'm not following the current rotation...are you?

Hi to the Maniacs that follow!

I'll be back later...

Hello Ladies,

I was so busy yesterday I didn't make it back to post. I did however read the posts:) I haven't even looked to see what is on my rotation for today. I will look when I get done here. I could just ask Debbie since it is one of hers :)

I must have been crazy to offer to run my friends biz while he was gone! My own is super busy and his well there were so many problems there yesterday I was fuming!! He is out of town for the next week or so. His employees now make me appreciate my own even more then I did :)

Marietta-I read about your friend. Sorry to hear she is not taking the oppurtunity to let you help her. You are a great Lady with much wisdom and kindness to offer.

Lora-Thanks for sharing your story. It helps to understand who you are and to know more about you.

Netta-We will look forward to fridays when you can post more!

Susan-I hope your soreness goes away fast. I think of you a lot and your daycare/work issues. I hope it all works out.

Dallas-Glad to see you running again!

Nicole-I miss you. how are things going? I think of you whenever I do something from the 30 days book:)

Debbie-I am following one of your rotations this month. The endurance one. I LOVE it and add to it but I really like it.

Suz-Hey maybe the boulder catheite would like to join us!

Charlotte-Still liking the job?

Christine-How are you?

I hope I didn't miss anyone! I really hope to have time to post again after my workouts!

Terri

Mariettta - I hear you about co-workers. I used to do transcription for a Neurosurgeon and there was 2 of us. The one ALWAYS called off. She was a loser and I used to have to type all of the New Patient History's while the patient waited and it sucked. When she was there, we were supposed to take turns, but nobody could ever find her when she was at work. Go figure. She eventually got fired, but I went thru this for a year and a half!! Frustrating!

Hey guys back again...

Lora/Christine - I went back and read the thread from yesterday. You guys are awesome. Thank you so much for sharing so much of yourselves and for being so open. You have given me valuable insight...You're the best!!

Hey Terri - Reminder (remember you asked for it)...DO NOT RUN YOUR FRIENDS BUSINESS AGAIN!!!! IT'S TOO STRESSFUL AND WE DON'T LIKE STRESS!! (okay I'm done). Hang in there, the week will go by so fast you won't know where it went. Thanks for your kind words about my friend....I was taking it personally, but Lora set me straight. I'll just be there to pick her up when she's ready...

Lora - I am trying so hard to remain calm about my co-worker. My management has gone above and beyond to let me know that they appreiciate my dedicication and hard work...that helps alot. It makes it a little easier to deal with her absence...

My guy friends are talking about going long today...I don't wanna go long today!!

I'll let you guys know what happens...

Good morning everyone!

Figured I'd check here first... LOL. I did IMax 3 this morning. All of that running is making my hr stay down. I did not burn anywhere near the calories I usually do on this one, but I sure had a good time!

Lora - you really are an inspiration. I hope you know that. I really admire your willingness to share and help others. It's so obvious in all that you do. Thanks so much for everything.

Marietta - you're a wonder as well. Oh go hard - you'll love it later. :) And by the way, one of my coworkers is out on medical leave - again. There are legitmate reasons for it, but I know this girl and hers are not. I know she's at home sitting on her rather large derrier. She never did anything when she was in the office anyway. It's so frustrating because she gets to keep her job while good people are being laid off... They can't fire her because some stupid doctor wrote her an excuse. So, I feel for you.

Hey there busy lady Terri! Hope things get calmer soon - when is your friend expected back?

Netta- glad you enjoyed your massage - that sounds like heaven!

Debbie - I love the GS series. Glad you're feeling it - isn't it a wonderful feeling?

Charlotte - you'll get used to working and fitting everything else is as well, eventually. LOL. It certainly does make one more organized. I'm amazed at what I can fit in the day when I work full time that I cannot seem to manage when I'm not working. LOL! Good luck.

Waves hello to anyone I missed - busy at work today!

Good morning fine ladies!

This morning was my hill workout - outside! It's finally warm enough. It was about 40 degrees and I was just waiting for my face to freeze so it wouldn't hurt so much (remember that joke - does your face hurt cuz it's killing me - hehehehe - I kept thinking of that). I did a long climb 4 or 5 times (I lost count darn it!) and then I did a steep climb twice and then one in between once. It took me about 65 minutes. I hate hill work but I know I have to do it - right Jeanette?

Lora - thanks again for sharing. I'm so impressed with you! You've been clean for such a long time. Way to go!!! I shared that with the gal I work with who has been sober for a year and a half. It gave her hope. YOU gave her hope.

Marietta - GUESS WHAT? My co-worker isn't here today either. Nor was she here yesterday! Nor will she be here the rest of the week. She's - get this - ON VACATION!!! As if she has any time left. She was out a few days last week with a sick son too. My boss was all set to get rid of her (yeah, whatever) and then he talked to her supervisor who said she's doing a GREAT job. Huh??? Her supervisor is a terrible manager unfortunately. She's a super nice person, but doesn't have what it takes to be a manager. It's not easy to have to take care of a bad situation, but it's all part of being a manager. Sheeesh!!! And by the way - I'm with Christine - go long today. You'll be happy you did! Then you can brag about it to us and we'll be so proud.

Charlotte - great job on the workouts. You'll get it all down to a fine science soon.

Debbie - way to build those biceps!!!

Jeanette - I don't like biceps on the Bowflex either. I wonder what it is. Have fun with CC tonight. I think I might try that for my interval ride outside on Thursday morning.

Terri - hang in there on running TWO businesses. When we get ready to set up our meeting, I'll e-mail Karin.

Susan - I hope that big breakfast takes away your pain. :)

Hello to all who follow - or anyone I missed. It's busy here at work today too. Our summer camp for kids is filling up fast this year which is HUGE for me b/c it's probably my biggest money-maker of the year and really helps my budget. Yay!!!

Have a great day everyone!

Suz

Suz - I remember when I first came around the Program and would hear people say they had 10-20 years clean and I'd think....yea right....How is that even possible? My DH says the same thing, but now we're both here...but I'll admit, it hasn't been easy. I'm glad I could give someone hope. It is possible...one day at a time and only with the help of the one up above!! Tell her if the crazy lady with a zillion exercise videos can do it, anyone can!!

Good afternoon,
This morning I did Cardio Coach#3 plus went on to make it 5mi.. I followed this with a Bowflex & free weight lower workout, and stretch Max #1 no equipment. It was 4 sets 12 reps each Bowflex Squats, leg extensions, leg curls, leg press, & 20reps each set on the calves, 2 sets one leg squats with the step, and 2 sets, 15 reps, each Bowflex standing hyperextensions, standing hip adduction, & standing hip abduction. I had to run and pick up my granddaughter and go to my daughters dermatology office to have a spot checked on my nose. I ordered the Turbo Jam Live Dvd's since I don't have them and would like to have them for add ons.

Charlotte, it was funny reading about your hacked up workout. I do that all of the time. The later I start the more interruptions. I still get in what I intended though. I have had a 2 hr morning workout take 4 hours. Later in the day is worse.

Suz, I am flattered that you used me as an example. I know that there are many here on the forums that are excellent examples. Hearing the having children excuse just doesn't ring true to me at all. Look how many instructors have children.

Netta, I am glad you got in your massage. I love getting on here too, but sometimes just have to make myself leave the computer off for awhile so I can acomplish something. Sometimes it is difficult to plan how to divide up my time. We like having you here and understand when time is tight:)

Terri, I will be glad when your friend returns. It sound like you have a lot to deal with.

Hi Lora, Dallas, Marietta, Susan, Christine, Nicole, and Sabrina.
HAve a great day.

Diane Sue
http://wd.1ww.us

Lora - I'll be sure to let her know. She says the same thing - that she couldn't do it without God. I like to hear that.

Diane Sue - I just hate that excuse about having kids because I have also seen so many instructors and others who have kids who look waaaay better than I look and I've never had kids! It's just another excuse if you ask me. And I hear it all the time. I think the second piece of cake today doesn't help her situation. :) You ARE an inspiration.

Suz

Hey Everyone,
WELL I never got around to doing KPC yesterday:eek: My DS had a baseball game that I would have thought would have been cancelled since it was raining????? NOT.....

Today I did KPC and pulled out one of my Joyce Vedral dvds... Dynamic tension, and did Day 1 which is chest, tris, and shoulders....

Terri I have been working on cleaning my carpet this week, and have been adding to a goodwill bag daily. Since I have had this sinus inffection I have been so out of sync with my house!! I am working on it HARD this week!!

Marietta so sorry to hear about your friend. I will keep her is my prayers!! That is about all you can do.

SuZ I never had sinus problems until we moved the the midwest??? Btw I am getting ready for summer:7

Sabrina hope you had a WONDERFUL anniversary!! Did you guys get to do anything speical???

Susan I LOVE wearing my hand weights I now can wear them throughout the whole workout!! It really adds to the workout!! If you love those Jolies I think you would love these:7

Diane Sue Love your new picture!! I am happy to hear I don't need the learn and burn!!

Christine happy to hear you are still loving Tony!! He is such I goof!! I like that!!

Dallas yes I am still doing the kickboxing!! I think it is such a great total body workout for me these days when I have been SOOOO SHORT on time!!

Well gotta go!!

Hello to everyone else!!

~Nicole

Hi again,
It seems a little quiter here than usual today.

Today I did P90X Legs, 400 walking lunges with weights, SJP Legs and Abs and Hamstring curls ( 4sets of 12).

Marietta, I'm sore from switching my 3 week S&H rotation to now doing Gym Styles. Today for Leg day, I just didnt have the motivation to do a Cathe workout so I chose something a bit easier.
I'm glad the managment of your company recognizes all your efforts. Will someone take her place while she is on maternity leave or will it still be all you? Did you go for your run today?

Terri, That was very nice of you to help your friend...BUT DONT DO IT AGAIN!!

Time to make dinner! :)

Hey Nicole - ya know, everyone talks about Bryan Kest being Mr. Yummypants. I'm not into that body type. Wasn't into the musclebound body type either until I saw Tony do those Plyo Push ups... My poor DD13 walked into the room when I was previewing and told me to shut my mouth and pick my tongue off the floor. :+ I still don't think I'd ever call Tony Mr. Yummypants, but I do certainly admire his strength and flexibility. And I cannot watch the screen when I'm supposed to be doing the low end version (clap push ups on my knees) of those plyos...

And I do enjoy his personality - he is goofy, but you can tell he really enjoys what he does. I see that in Cathe, too. Amy Bento gives me the feeling that if she didn't workout like she does, she'd go into orbit around the earth... (I like her step, but holy cow is it fast!).

Christine - I love Tony Horton. I love goofy people!! and weird people. Always have. I don't think I ever thought about him being "hot" cuz I like the Rock and Roll type dudes or the bad boys. Tony is in great shape though....have to admit! I agree that Amy Bento is like super Spaz workout chic!! and I think that's why her constant whooing doesn't really bother me.

Charlotte - I have your package with Stadium Arcadium, Blood Sugar, Theory of a Deadman all ready to go. I'm gonna burn Puddle of Mud later and I'll get that out in the mail to you on Wednesday. I can't wait for you to hear Blood Sugar. It is one of my FAVORITE workout CDs! It's so motivating.

Hey everyone!! I've gotta go decide what I'm going to do tomorrow for a workout.
