Hardcore Fitness Maniacs Check In for Tues 5-9

I'm right there with you Terri. I've never even tried yoga. I know I should. I have a Windsor Pilates video and the movements are VERY slow, it drives me bonkers.

Well, I STILL haven’t done my w/o yet!! I just got back from errands and now have to get dinner. I'm so dang tired too.

Lora, thanks for your detailed descriptions on your new workouts.

Christine, try to post your picture again. I'd love to see it.

Marietta,

I guess that's my whole problem - if I'm going to work out it's going to be cardio or weights so I can feel like I got a good workout. So yoga would have to be done later that night I guess. And of course by then I'm LAZY b/c I've already worked out.

Christine - I know what you mean too about being "still" that long. I'm kinda antsy and might have a hard time with that too. So much to do, so little time.

Terri - Amy is just a blast. We hiked about 7 miles (didn't even realize it! But knew it the next day!) and just chatted the whole time. She's just like her posts - smart, funny, sweet and just a good person to be around. I posted about how wonderful it was to be talking to someone in person who just "got it". I did not have to explain Cathe, or P90X or worse yet, why I work out to begin with ... Now I want to meet everyone in person! This is an incredible group of ladies, actually.

AHHH Christine she is just soo cute:)

Glad you and Amy had a good time. Sounds like fun going hiking and talking.

Terri

I waas exactly the same way when I first started yoga. I got really antsy. You have to sort of work thru that and then you begin to enjoy it and relax. Mark Blanchard actually says these are the types of people that really need it. I don't always sit still when practicing, as sometimes I'll fast forward thru some of the beginning parts that are too slow. However, I think some instructors (Eion & Mark come to mind) move at such a rapid pace during sun salutations taht you don't have to worrry about that.

As far as fitting it in - I do mine on Sat & Sun and try to fit in a brief night session sometimes. I agree that it is difficult to fit it in, but after yoga,a 15 minute stretch tape just doesn't do it for me any more!! Then there's the added benefits for the internal organs and even toning, etc.

Wow - I had a rough day and my stomach flu feels like it's back.

I was the same way with yoga as well. I really love it now. I'm actually sore from doing Mark's workout yesterday. I wanted to do Bryan Kest this evening but I think I'll wait until tomorrow. My hamstrings and quads are really sore.

Christine...your niece is adorable!!

I knew you would find a way to post that picture...

Good night all...

Good evening,
I finally have time to get on here for a little bit. I am keeping my granddaughters while their parents are in the Bahamas. I started my workout this am with Turbo Jam Punch Kick & Jam stopping at the tubing work, KPC high intensity drills, then BC kickbox premix I had to run the girls to school so when I got back I did PS BBA, BC Core, & KPC Abs. Then I went back and picked up the younger one. As far as yoga, I never did it before P90X and I really like it. It is hard to spend that much time on it and feel worked out. I would rather add some as extra to what I already do. It does help with stiffness, and I think some of the moves can build some strength, as well as the benefit of flexibility. I have been trying to add some shorter segments to my workouts since the P90X rotation.

Susan I didn't sleep well either but for me it was being woke up an hr into sleep by grandchildren playing. Then I watched the clock a lot afterward.

Lora, I downloaded the free Eoin Finn audio yoga workouts but have not put them on my mp3 player. I could take my laptop to the workout room and try them.

Christine, your niece is so cute. I bet you miss your dh already.

I wish I had more time to spend here but need to run. I am also working on a get together for Saturday when dh returns.

Hi to everyone,

Hi you maniacs!!!

Thought I'd report back on my bicycling time trial tonite. I did much better than I expected, especially cuz this afternoon I coughed and coughed at work with the post nasal drip from this little cold, but I still felt good so decided to go for the time trial.

Here are the stats:

Total distance: 12.24 miles
Time: 36.52
Average speed: 19.6 (I looked at my average a little after crossing
the line so it's close)
Terrain: Flat, with 2 hills, out and back, so 4 hills total

My time 1 year ago for the same course was 38.56 so I'm thrilled with a 2 minute decrease in time.

Lora, the longer segments of yoga really help me to relax more, but I like premixes for fitting it in after a cardio. I'm doing more cycling at night for my cardio so that frees up my morning workouts a bit to fit in yoga.

Charlotte, glad you got your workout in. Is your mind spinning at night yet? I know when I've learned a new job sometimes I wouldn't sleep well as my mind was going over and over stuff. Hope that doesn't happen to you. Hope you got your snacks in too.

Debbie, I like Bryan Kest too. You get sore in the lower back? I get sore on top of my hips. Not sure what helps that out.

SCM, interesting about the food combining. I'll have to check into that. I usually eat 1/2 an apple as a snack but maybe I should include some nuts or peanut butter with it, huh?

Dallas, how did you injure your foot, glad it's coming along.

Marietta, it's been a long time since I've done yoga, but as I age (I'm 47), I feel like I'm getting less flexible. I've also had a couple of muscle strains in my back and neck while lifting weights, though I try to have good form. My hamstrings are pretty tight too, from cycling so think the yoga will be good for me. I am having more time for it during my morning workouts as I've been riding my bike after work (getting in the cardio).

Nicole, what workout did you get in today? I think I'm going to do a little Turbo Jam tomorrow and maybe a little bit of weights.

Christine, the P90X rotation sounds like it's doing you some good. Hope you're not sneezing cuz of a cold coming on. I usually sneeze a lot when I get one. That's what happened last week and BAM! It's leaving pretty quickly, thank goodness. Yep, it sure would be nice to meet everyone. What a thrill to meet Amy!

Diane Sue, you are always so busy, must be what keeps you looking so young. I'm 47 and feel like I need the yoga more and more. I just need to fit it in.

Terry, glad you're feeling better. Oral surgery does not sound like something I ever want to have. Crossing my fingers here.

Susan (dogs2birds), I emailed you about my time trial. I was thrilled but while I was riding, I was thinking about everyone on here and how hard we all push, that helped me a lot. Oh yeah, heart rate was fairly comfortable around 163, but could tell if I got higher, I wouldn't be able to maintain my speed. Susan, I guess I'm getting in more yoga now because I'm really not giving up any cardio. I'm just doing it after work on the bike. I like giving my body a break before hard efforts, like today. It just works better for me. I've done lots of riding with fatigued legs and I don't like it. Way to go on the Uphill Grind. I'm hard pressed to get on the trainer now that the weather is beautiful. I'm looking forward to my next Cardio Coach session, which will be next week. I'm sure it will be tough, but one tough ride a week is all I want, then one with friends at an easier pace and then one long distance ride. Think I'll stick with that plan for now.

Good night everyone,

Jeanette
