Hardcore Fitness Maniacs Check In for Tues 5-23

Lora - I don't mean to be ignoring your rotation question. I'm just not sure what to suggest. Have you checked out any of the rotations I have out there? There are at least six of them. The last few are endurance rotations, one is get ready for summer, another is circuit mix rotation. Check them out, maybe one will strike your fancy.

Hello again!

I felt really good during my workout today! I did (drum roll please hahaha) ALL the push-ups on my toes….even the four-four count ones!

I finally got my hair cut today. She cut over 6 inches off!

Dallas, yes, the biopsy is what I mentioned about a year ago. I found the Pilates workouts tough! I only did each of them once since I don’t like to keep dvd’s too long. I have a Lotte Burke (sp?) one coming next. Over the weekend I spent a lot of time going through the kids clothes. What fits, etc. I have let him put his clothes away, but like Nicole said, it’s better if I just do it myself…hahaha one can dream right?

Diane Sue, about the daycare, let me say, it’s unbelievable! The rates are similar all over the place. I hate to complain about money, but, for ds6 the best rate for full time is $155 per week and ds4months $199 per week (four days). So, for the summer Justin is going to stay with my parents. I’ll visit him on the weekends. I’ll have Fridays off work, so I can leave Thursday night. My nephew lives out there as well and he is the same age. My sister lives about 5 miles from Six Flags and they’ll get the Season Pass. He’ll have a blast! I used to spend summers with my grandparents too.

Lora, I like the first rotation you posted. I also remember liking Cathe’s Bootcamp one. I think it was from last summer, August maybe. I’ll read the article later tonight.

Debbie, that does sound like a good cardio workout. I did IMAX2 all during my pregnancy. I bet it’s fun to combine it with SJP. I’m terrible at making sure I do cardio.

Jeanette, I know what you mean about lifting. I’m doing the GS right now, and I know I could go heavier (and I really want to increase my strength now), but Cathe goes a little fast, so I end up lifting lighter so I can keep up and finish at the same time.

Suz, how do you feel after this mornings stretch? That’s another thing I don’t take the time to do.

Hi Marietta, Terri and Sabrina!!

Susan C.M.

Sandy - thanks for the compliment. :) Our animals are a lot of fun! I do try to eat the Body for Life way most of the time, but I'm not as strict as I used to be. I should do better. It's not really that hard.

Diane Sue - OH MY GOSH YOU ARE THE STRONGEST WOMAN I KNOW!!!

Susan - the stretching must have helped as I haven't taken any ibuprofen today. Hmmm...hadn't thought about it until you mentioned it. I guess I need to stretch more. I'm bad about it too. Hopefully the yoga will help.

Lora,

I do remember reading a post about you not being able to lift heavy. You seem to have a lot of determination and I admire that in you! With migranes and not being able to sleep is bad enough on the body. How do you do it? I mean you start the posts off and your w/o's are not easy ones, not to me anyway. Hat's off to you! I hope your will and determination will rub off on me. :)
I don't see myself squating 140 lbs anytime soon. That's a lot of weight! I'm good if I can squat 35 lbs at the moment.
I'm gonna do my w/o tonight and try to get up in the morning to start the a.m.'s again. Tonight I think I'll do Amy Bento's Cardio Hi/Lo Pump. In the morning I'm thinking of doing Cathe's Kickmax. Lora when you excersise in the mornings do you wait a little while after waking to get started? Do you eat anything before hand? What about drinking water. I sometimes can't eat to much before working out or I will feel sick. :(
Thanks!

I tried Yoga Shakti. I really liked it so far. I am already picking some favorite sequences:) Soon I can set up the I did the basic one and 14 minutes of of the first Solar Flow. I want to familiarize myself with all of them and then program it. I guess there are suposed to be 3.5 hrs of vinyasa sequences. I did not watch the introduction. I will save that for a treadmill run.
Lora, thanks for recommending this one.

Susan, I used to spend about a month at my grandparents during the summer. I am sure he will have fun. My grandma lived by Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm. That amount of money is so much for daycare.

Diana Sue - I'm so glad you like it so far. I was nervous. I know some people think she's too "new agey" and hippie like. I always like that....and that's why I also like Rainbeau Mars. She's like Shiva. They are both so flexible and in such good shape. It's amazing. I wonder if they do cardio and if so, how much. Some of the more advanced yoga stuff (arm balances, etc) can be very strengthing. Shiva is very graceful and fluid in her movements. She's like a dancer. Isn't the beach gorgeous also? I love that and the music. I think I'll do that tomorrow morning with my cardio!

Sandy - I usually workout 1/2 hour after I get up. Sometimes, 15-20 minutes. I'm supposed to get up at 2:00 and workout by 2:30-2:45, but lately I've been sleeping until 2:30 and not getting started until 3:00 or 3:10. I have a lot of E-bay business to take care of and sometimes I get sidetracked in the AM with that. I always eat a small non-fat yogurt and take my vitamins and drink water and I'm good to go. Sometimes, if I'm having my period, I may eat a handful of cereal to take an Advil for cramps with my yogurt. My DH also gets up early and works out and he doesn't eat anything at all before hand. I always wake up hungry. Yes, my migraines have been horrible and I'm very sleep deprived. I have a lot of problems, but I've been thru so much in my life that I'm a survivor and I "soldier on" or as my DH says "cowboy up"!! I'm glad you joined so that I'm not the only one on here with physical problems. I also have Irritable Bowel really bad, not ulcerative colitis, but I try not to talk about that problem, as it's not very appealing!! LOL.

Lora, I liked the beach background and the sky in the workouts. It always seemed to me that Yoga in general was a little different (New Agey) It doesn't bother me. I can ignore stuff I do not like. I always wonder what other workouts the people that do these Yoga videos do. Some have so much muscle definition and are so lean I often wonder if they got that way only doing yoga. Yes she does flow through the moves gracefully. I am anxious to check out the rest of the dvd:)BTW, on a new rotation I think if you want to see changes you need to look at what is hardest for you and try and add in more of it. Look at what you are currently doing a lot of and make that the minor workout element and do more of the other stuff. A big change should give you more results. I think you know because you do read a lot that Heavy lifting will build the muscle. THen you add your endurance and circuits to lean it all out so you can see the definition. At least that is my experience. You change workouts all of the time, but maybe you are leaning toward the same type of workout schedule. Just trying to help.

Oh great, now I'm gonna have to end up getting Yoga Shakti b/c of all this talk! :) I'm so bummed b/c my PY4H didn't arrive today. :( I guess I'm gonna go do some pilates then. What do you all think of pilates? My cycling buddy says that it's the only way she can keep her belly fat away and that she totally notices a difference if she quits it. I think it's hard on the back personally, but that's just me.

Diane Sue - I lived in LA the first 30 years of my life and therefore grew up going to Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm. I LOVED Knotts Berry Farm. And those great chicken dinners in the restaurant - my mom and grandma loved to take us there too. Sometimes we wouldn't even go into the park but just go to eat there after church. Thanks for bringing that up. Ah, the sweet memories.

And that's why I need Yoga Shakti - Lora mentioned the ocean in it!

Thanks Diane Sue. I finally did a Google search and found it.

I just did The Firm Power Yoga. Seemed like a lot of stretching. Is that how yoga is? I'm so NOT limber! It's pretty painful (not the damaging painful). I guess that's a good reason to keep doing it. I'd love to be limber.

Well, I'm back. I got a bike ride in tonite. I had planned on doing Cardio Coach #3 but guess I don't have it figured out on my mp3 player. It started the warmup and then kept switching back to Cardio Coach #2. I never did get it figured out so I just did my own intervals. I was happy with the ride and really pushed myself.

Stats:
Distance: 20.03 miles
Time: 1 hr. 8 minutes
Average Speed: 17.9
Average Heart Rate: 135 (this included my stops to try to figure out my mp3 player)

I was really tickled with this ride. It's my usual 20 mile out and back ride with one long hill on it and a few rollers so it's not just a flat ride. My goal this year was to average 18 mph for the ride. I almost did it today (17.9) and I was just doing intervals, so really easing off inbetween efforts. I'm pretty pleased.

You guys inspired me today. I came home from work and almost talked myself out of riding cuz I was just a bit tired and thinking my legs were still tired from Sundays longer ride. I did some reading on our Hardcore thread, saw how hard all of you work and decided I needed to not be a slacker so I went out and did it.

Lora, I'm going to go check out that Seasun clip. Thanks so much. I'll let you know what I think. Did you pick a rotation yet?

Dallas, I won't ride in the rain intentionally, but if we get caught in it, then I'll have to. I'll bring rain gear. So far, not predicting much in the way of rain. Should be in the 60's or 70's, which is perfect for me. Enjoy American Idol.

Suz, good for you with the hill climb Spinerval! Did your yoga DVD come yet? Sounds like stretching will be good for you. I still can't get over how strong you and Diane Sue are on the Bowflex. You guys are pushing much more weight than I am (yet LOL)! I had a great bike ride tonite (except for my mp3 player). I almost reached my goal speed for my loop. Now it's time to taper off for the big ride on Saturday.

Nicole, how was Kickmax Bootcamp? You guys scare me with these tough workouts. I've been such a wimp lately.

Diane Sue, my mouth dropped when I read the weights you use with the Bowflex. I don't think my DH and I together would be able to do the weights you use!! Way to go! My gosh, woman!!!

Susan CM, way to go on the pushups! I love it when we feel really extra strong. That's a lot of hair to have cut. What style is it in?
The daycare price is incredible. So glad my kids are up and grown now. So tough nowadays.

Marietta, where are you? Hope you didn't do in your co-worker.

Must help DH on the Bowflex now.

Jeanette

Well, Jeanette I can't believe the ride you had. It sounds like you had a great ride. I have not been on a bike for what seemms like forever. Actually the weights are seeming light. I kept thinking I needed to add here and there next time. I think P90X actually did help with my weight training. My problem is that I am not sure how heavy I want to go before stopping. I want to maintain some femininity but still look like I work out. I have people notice all of the time now so I guess it is up to me where I want to stop.
