Hardcore Fitness Maniacs Check In for Tues 5-23

Cathlete
Morning Fitness Maniacs -

This morning I did Cardio Coach 6 for about 55 minutes. I overslept a bit so I didn't have time to do my abs like I wanted to. I've got to start getting up a bit earlier. With being so depressed, I don't want to get out of bed. This was the one with Sean and I just like him better than Candace. Candace had a somewhat "dry" personality....I think. I did this on my rebounder, incline step and floor. I forgot how much fun CC is on the rebounder. Last time I did it on the rebounder, I blew a light bulb out in the basement underneath where I was exercising (see...I am a fat butt!!) My DH won't let me live that one down.

I still don't know what the heck to do for a rotation. I studied that one last night and then looked at a few Cathe ones, but I'm so indecisive. All of the Cathe ones I'm looking at have a lot of older stuff like Body Max and Power Hour and I haven't done those enough to listen to my own music ......and I know I don't like the music in some of her older ones. When I follow a rotation, I usually don't like to substitue unless I have to because it's designed a certain way for a reason.

I hope everyone that got Yoga Shakti likes it. Once you ladies get it and play with it, you'll have to give me some good practices to use off of it (shorter ones). I'm so bad with making my own routines up. I usually follow the preset ones and I even bought Solar Flow and Lunar Flow (which is basically all stuff from Yoga Shakti) because they have 4 premixed routines on each of them. I really need to play around with it a bit more to find out which standing poses are which and what sun salutations and dancing warriors are what....and so on and so forth. (How much was the DVD at Target?)

Terri - I'm glad you liked the movie. Maybe it got better after we left.....I don't know. I just wasn't in to it.

Charlotte - I emailed you back last night before I went to bed. I'm anxious to see what you think about the other CDs.

Have great workouts everyone and I'll check in later.

Good Morning Maniacs!!

Last night I finished off lowmax and then did coremax 2. I will ride my bike this evening into town and back and work chest too. My left hip flexor is alittle sore so I hope it will work its self out by the time I get on my bike. My eating was off yesterday. Only ended up eating 4 meals. I am going to take my 15 mins and shove tunafish down my throat while at work. I should have done that yesterday. I pretty much bring in a grocery bag of food plus water for the day. LOL!

Lora,

I will read your email before I leave

Charlotte~~

Good Morning,
I am doing an early pre workout check in. I am going to use my Bowflex and free weights again this week. I will start with the cardios off of HSchallenge and then do the Turbo Fat blaster, then IMax 2 blasts.

Lora, I am sure I will like the Yoga Shakti workout. I read reviews and watched a clip about her workouts. I always research before I make the decision to purchase. Your descriptions of the Turbo Jams is what finalized my decision to purchase them I really like them alot. I hope you figure out what rotation you would like to do. Most of the time if I don't have one really planned, I do know I want to get in every body part at least once and 5-6 hrs of cardio with some form of stretching. So I just grab workouts and do them. Oh and at Target.com Shakti was 18.99.

Jeanette, I would think if your dentist did an x ray that he would know. Maybe it was something small or hard to find though. I have had dentists be wrong. The one I have now I have had for years. He is really good. I had a crack in a filling and that is why all of this problem. I ordered my Shatki dvd with 2 day shipping so I should have it soon.

Suz, thanks for hoping my appt. would be over quick. Me too!! You got in a good workout yesterday. I know what you mean on the Bowflex leg curls. I have gone up to 50# rods and felt strain in the low back trying to lift that resistance. So I usually do 40#.

Dallas, I am supposed to go back to the dentist next Friday, but may have to change the appointment because I have no one to watch the grandchildren. As for Jury duty I know I read on the internet for our system that you are not supposed to have to serve more than once every two years and that they pick using voters registration picked randomly from different areas. I would call them and check. I would think you could get out of it.

Debbie, I saw the knee raise tower on the open discussion. They had one in a store here that I was looking at. I think it was the same. It was 78 dollars and they were clearancing it for 20% off. DH went and looked and thought it did not look well built. He wanted me to have a better one but I did not want to spend several hundred dollars for one. I lucked out finding this one.

Hope everyones has a wonderful day
Diane SUe

This morning I had an excellent cardio workout. I think Diane Sue did this combo last week or the week before and I kept it in my memory because it sounded so fun. I started out with the step part of Step, Jump & Pump and then I did all of Imax 2 (except the warmup). That was a fun combo, I really enjoyed it. I was in my zone for 56 minutes and burned 366 calories. It only took an hour and 10 minutes to do this workout.

Dallas - I did a few rotations for strength training last summer and posted them on the rotation forum. Right now I'm not really following any of those, I'm just doing what I feel like but using GS and S&H on alternating weeks.

Lora - I'm sorry to hear you are still feeling depressed. I'm not sure this will help, but I was diagnosed with anxiety a few months ago and have been taking a natural supplement I got at the Vitamin Shopped called 5-HTP. It has helped tremendously and has helped with my patience as well and has calmed me down. Maybe this will help you? I give you a lot of credit for getting up every morning and working out. You are awesome, remember that!

Diane Sue - have a great workout, sounds like you have a fun lineup today!

Hope you all have great workouts!

Good morning ladies!

Last night's workout on the Bowflex didn't materialize. DH was doing a welding repair on someone's log splitter so he didn't come in the house until late and I just kind of crashed on the couched when I got home from work. Probably from the bike ride the day before, but I felt I needed some rest so that's how it went.

Today was MIC hi/lo, 1/2 hour of it anyway and then a Bowflex/free weight upper body workout. I've got to say, I just love our Bowflex. I like putting my own music on and challenging myself to lift a little heavier. Most of the time, with my Cathe DVD's, I'm afraid of not being able to finish with her so I don't up the weight when I probably should. Silly, huh, but doing my own workout (for a while anyways) is helping me challenge myself to lift heavier. Also did some supermans on the ball and some plank work.

Lora, hope you start feeling better soon. What usually gets you out of a slump? You really inspire me so much each day. Like I said, I love your reviews. I will definitely order the Shakti DVD soon. Re: the calorie burn for muscle in your article, I've read that before.

Charlotte, way to go for finishing Lowmax and Coremax. Hope the hip flexor starts feeling better, and enjoy your bike ride!
Shoving tuna fish down your throat gives me a picture of a seal being fed! My eating was off yesterday too. I had the Indian Taco at work (sans fry bread), but had 3 pieces of chocolate cake! No dinner for me so it wasn't a good day. Today will be better.

Diane Sue, I need to check out the Shakti clip. Please let us know how they are, okay? I just read somewhere about leg curls (I take it you mean leg extensions?) and it says that to help with low back pain, having a back support helps, but I don't have that on my bowflex. Actually, I've done very few leg extensions, probably should, I'm just sooo bad about leg workouts.

My legs don't burn today so after work may do a bike workout with Cardio Coach #3 or just a bike ride, depending on how I feel. I know I need to taper soon for the century ride on Saturday.

Must go,

Jeanette

Jeanette, the leg curls are lying down and working the hamstrings with the leg extension attachment. I just think if I go to heavy I tend to strain my back pulling it up.

Hi everyone,

I started to check-in yesterday, but had to go in a hurry so I didnt get to actually post. I had a lot written too!

I dont have any time now either, but wanted to say a quick "HI"!

Yesterday I did GS BSB and MTV Pilates Mix.
Today is GS CT. I'd like to do some cardio if I can squeeze it in.

I got things ironed out with my employer, so I will be returning to work on June 5. I need a biopsy taken that morning, so it wont be a good day.

Gotta go for now, I'll be back later on tonight.

Susan C.M.

Hi Maniacs!

I'm a lurker to this check-in, and I really get inspired by all of you ladies, and all of the hard work you do and how you keep each other motivated! You always lift each other up and I like that and would like to join if that would be okay. I need the motivation, as I have got very slack in my excersising and eating. I really don't want to go backwards I've worked so hard to get where I'm at with my weight and healthy eating to just throw it all away!
Here's a little bit of info about me. I'm a mother of 3 my youngest being 17. I'm 5'7" and weigh 146 I was at 140, but since the beginning of March I've really slacked off! I have almost all of Cathe's DVD's, a rebounder, and a lot of weights (my husbands);-) I also suffer from panic and anxiety disorder, so Debbie I would really like to know how the supplement you're taking is working, because I'm taking a perscription med and would love to come off of that! I have osteoarthritis and narrowing of the cervical spine, and I have ulcerative colitis. Now with that being said it's hard to get out of bed to get ready for work, let alone get up to workout in the a.m. I did do that for a little while, but I just can't keep it up. I loved getting my w/o over with in the a.m. that was a good feeling and my days seemed like everything flowed together. So, there ya go...I need a push back in the right direction! I really enjoy reading all your posts all you ladies look fantastic, and for the one's that don't have a pic trail, I'm sure you look great too...one things for sure here, you all seem very supportive of each other no matter what! I like that! Sorry for this post being so long! Hope you didn't mind me chiming in.:7
Thanks,
Sandy

Hi just a quick stop in before I leave for work:

Welcome Sandy! Yep, these gals are great. I just started on this check in not long ago. You won't be sorry! So much variety in workouts here and interests, that's what makes it great! Lora posts really great reviews and starts this every morning. Her dedication is top-notch.

Diane Sue, oh the hamstring curls. They are too awkward for me, I'm afraid of hurting my back. I've tried them and to me, it's an accident waiting to happen. They don't even show them in my Bowflex book.

Susan, glad you got things ironed out with your employer. Will be thinking of you with the biopsy.

Debbie, we posted at the same time. Your cardio sounded good. I'm in a cardio slump right now (except for biking, that I consider fun). I'm just doing short cardio for the time being.

Will check in later.

Jeanette

Netta - Do you like Step Aerobics a lot? If so, Seasun Zeiger's Straight Up Step is a really fun routine. It's slightly challenging coreographically but not too much that you'll never get it. I just love it. It has become my favorite workout to do for a fun factor. You can read about it over at VF. There was just a long thread about it. If you do a search with her name, I believe it would come up. Maybe that will get you motivated again (at least until Cathe comes up with her new stuff - I know I'm really waiting for that). Her'es the link. You can preview it and see what you think.

Sandy- welcome. I always get excited when we get more new people joining. We'd love to have you....as long as you can put up with my lengthy posts and chattiness!!

Okay - sorry to bug everyone about this again, but I need help making my mind up. Which of these rotations do you think is best for body definition and fat loss? Looking at the 3 below and the one I posted yesterday. If you want, you can ignore me and I won't be hurt!! I know I'm a pain in the butt.

Hi Everyone! I must apologize for getting this rotation out so late. A couple of you have asked if it would be possible to get the rotations out a day or two before the month starts and I will work very hard on trying to make that happen

Thanks ladies!

I'm in, and I think this is just what I need to get back on track.

Lora - I do love to read your posts, very interesting stuff. I love the reviews you give as well, like the one you just did for Netta!
I'm looking forward to this. :7

I can't wait for the new dvd's from Cathe either! I think those are gonna be awesome workouts, anything from Cathe I have always loved. This Seasun Zieger sounds interesting, I'm gonna check her w/o's out too! :)

Good Morning All!

I only had time for KPC this AM. I wanted to add on KM combo's & leg drills, but ran out of time. I had to get the kids up for school. I may still do this when I get back from dd's school. We'll see. I'd have to shower again. ha ha. We're supposed to go to my bil's house later for American Idol with all the cousins. I thought that would be fun for the kids.

Welcome Sandy!! Yes, the girls are great. They'll keep you in-line. lol;-)

Lora ~ Still having trouble deciding? The first one sounds good and it doesn't look too time consuming.

Debbie ~ That looks like a great cardio workout. Imax 2 is my favorite.

Susan ~ Biopsy?! What's wrong? Is this for that problem you mentioned a long time ago? How are you liking MTV Pilates Mix.

Suz ~ Enjoy your DOMS! }(

Netta ~ Good luck with your century this weekend. Do you ride rain or shine? We have some rain heading our way? Hopefully, it will come and go before the long weekend.

Diane Sue ~ I've never actually served. Maybe that's why I keep getting picked?

Nicole ~ Do you put your kids clothes away after you fold them? I always have, but my sil said that they're old enough to do it. So, I tried it. Their closets are frightening. ha ha That's why I need to straighten them out and take that job back over. I still do my little guys clothes. My dd can't even find clothes to get dressed in the AM! x(

Charlotte ~ Can you e-mail me that rotation when you have time? Have fun at work!

Hi to all who follow! Have great workouts!

Must run!!!.....:)

Dallas

Good morning! This morning I did Spinervals Uphill Grind (hill day - pretty soon you'll all have me figured out!). It was rainy and windy this morning, so no outside ride. x( It's only 45 minutes long and my HR averaged 167. I think I'm going to order the hour long hill workout b/c I have this thing in my head that if it's not an hour workout, it's not good enough - even though they are tough workouts. I was going to try to do a half hour of yoga but I dinked around too long so I didn't have the time. But my PY4H should arrive today, so maybe I can try it out tonight. My back really hurt in the night but I woke up this morning and it feels really good. I stretched it out after my workout.

Jeanette - I had a really sensitive area in my mouth for like 2 years. I kept telling my dentist about it (I would almost go through the roof if I bit into something on that part of my mouth). They would x-ray and find nothing. Then one day it was just gone. He said that happens sometimes. Weird. You in a cardio slump? Ha! That's funny. You are the cardio queen with those rides of yours. :+

Lora - I never follow a rotation. For one thing I don't have enough workouts and I'm terrible at subbing. So I just do my own thing. :)

Charlotte - I'm picturing you shoving a big fish down your throat. BE CAREFUL!

Diane Sue - wow - 40# on leg curls on the Bowflex? Yikes!!! Now the pressure is on. :) I seem to strain the back of my legs. Hmmm...I'm gonna work up to 40 though. I'll keep you posted.

Dallas - usually they don't like me for jury duty since DH is a cop. That doesn't always get me out of it though.

Debbie - great workout!

Sandy - welcome!!! I joined about the same time as Jeanette, so haven't been around that long either, but these gals are all amazing! Although you have many challenges that you face every day, you sound like a very strong person who is dedicated to living a healthy lifestyle. Good for you! Keep up the good work and I look forward to learning more about you in the upcoming months.

Susan - thoughts and prayers are with you as you make this transition and with your biopsy.

Lora - since I'm terrible at rotations, I won't answer, but I'm not ignoring you. :) I do hope you are feeling happier soon. And thanks for the Seasun review. I'm gonna check it out too.

Hello to all who follow!

I feel so welcomed!

Debbie - Thanks for the link, I'm gonna check that out when I get off work today! It's so good to know there is something else out there that's more natural. Loved looking at your pics, great determination you have! That's why I'm joining this post.

Suz - I do have some challenges, but while I excersise it really helps me feel better, so I don't know why I've got into this slump. I've got a feeling all of you here will help me out of that! Alot of support here! Suz on another post I think during my lurking about I read a post about you doing the "Body for Life"? I'm kind of doing that too, or was! You're pics look great too, love the pets you have also!!!:)

Hey Everyone,
Today I am going to do Kickmax bootcamp.:D

Sandy WELCOME to our check-in!! Just coming here will get you in the habit again. Some weeks I slack off, and I always know moneday is just around the corner to start that weekly habit!! You will find working out consistently again will help relieve daily stress.

Dallas My DD12 does, but my boys are another story. They make a mess of there clothes and even there drawers???? I need to get them doing this more, but sometimes I think it is just easier for me to do it?? LOL

Lora thanks for posting that article!! I read it and I agree. I find the changes in my body did not come quickly, but slowly;-) It was worth the time and effort!!:D

Diane Sue I love the way you use your dvds. I am going to pull out high step challenge and maybe tack it on my workout today:D

Susan I am emailing you!!

Debbie I think it is great you are using vitamins!! I am a FIRM believer in them!!

Well gotta go!! WIll try and be back later!!
~Nicole

Good afternoon,
Glad to have you join us Sandy. You will get a lot of support and learn a lot from these women.
Today I did the cardio segments I discribed earlier, no stretch and only the w/u from HSCh. Then I did chest w/ Bowflex and free weights:Decline push ups 2 sets, Bowflex Bench Press and Incline press 4 sets, 12 reps @100# resistance, Bowflex Flys 45# each hand 12 reps 4 sets, incline flys same weight but 2 sets, 2 sets push ups 15 reps.. Triceps as follows: Bowflex french press 40# ea. hand 12 reps 4 sets, Triceps extensions 50# ea hand 10 reps 4 sets, Bowflex one arm triceps kickbacks 30# 10 reps 2 sets, Triceps dips w/ a 35#dumbbell 25 reps 2 sets, because I didn't want to change the weight on the barbell last week I did 45# and 20 reps.. I followed with abs Bowflex resisted crunch 50 reps 2 sets 100#, 4 sets 20 reps hanging straight leg raises done slowly, 2 sets 25 reps Bowflex resisted oblique twists 50# ea. side, then I did the abs & Str from High Step CH.

Susan, Good luck with the return to work. I hope the biopsy goes well for you. Did you figure out daycare?

I have to run to the store and do errands and yard work. I will check back later. My yoga w/o came from Target already. I ordered it yesterday afternoon on 2 day shipping. I am impressed.
Diane Sue

Diane Sue

I agree ...Diana Sue is The Bomb with piecing workouts together....and that's one reason I'm glad she bought Yoga Shakti. LOL!

Sandy - if you've been lurking....I'm sure you know about all of my physical limitiations and problems! I can relate. I hope we can help you with working thru those. I know I struggle constantly with all of my problems and not feeling "good enough" for this check in. I sure wish I could lift like these ladies, but with my disc problems, I'm not sure I'll ever be able to lift extremely heavy, although I do the best I can. I certainly know I'll never be able to squat with 140 pounds on my back like Toasty. I can only leave the bar up there for short periods of time with 40-50 on it.

I don't mind if y'all ingnore me about my rotation questions. I think I scared Marietta away though!! LOL! You ladies know that I'm a babbling, indecisive Libra! Some day, I'll decide on a good rotation....hopefully by Monday, as I'd like to start it on Monday.

Dallas - speaking of the future, I'm planning on doing Willpower & Grace on Sunday. I have to work on Sunday and won't be able to fit in my 3 hour normal workout.
