Hardcore Fitness Maniacs Check In for Thursday 4/6

Cathlete
Morning Ladies -

This morning, I didn't hear my alarm going off and the DH didn't wake me up that early.....so I only had time for Amy Bento Step. I had difficulty following this again, but I always do (even did and still do with Cathe's). I usually don't do the turns right away and do most of it facing the TV until I learn it. Usually, I pick up a little more with each workout. I really kicked my HR up a notch (since I see my resting rate is lower) and I think I probably need to work up to this gradually, as it felt like I was overdoing it a bit and had to back off. My face was redder than beet red and took a long time to go away!!

Marietta - Usually, when I can't follow a step tape, I sort of do my own version until I get the steps. I have been doing the crazy taps (or whatever they're called) facing front. I'm not doing most of the turns yet. I need to keep my eyes on the screen. As far as which Power Yoga to do first, I believe they have broken in into 1 Energize (for beginners), 2 Tone for Intermediates and 3, Sweat for Advanced. I found them all to be very good and really not so much beginner. Have you ever done Power Yoga before? If not, don't just try it once and say "this isn't from me". I think (at least in my experience), you practice it a few times (falling over and such) and think "this is not for me" and then 1 day it just clicks and you start to get into the poses deeper and feel the goodness the poses create within your body and then you get that euphoric feeling which I call a "yoga buzz". All of the twists and openers they do in yoga are so good for your internal organs and for releasing toxins out of your body, as well as stretching you out from running, etc. I'm very anxious to hear what you think of these Power Yoga tapes.

Yes, I'm taking the Monday off after the concert and the following Tuesday also because it will still only count as one sick incident. I never do this sort of thing, and I was feeling a little guilty, but my boss has been so mean to me the last couple of days, I think I'm gonna be just fine doing it. (I would just take Personal Days, but the hospital took our Personal Days away from us this year - and there's major downsizing coming -- and you don't get paid for your sick time if you don't take it and I have about 200 hours or so of it). It's my present to myself. I've got 19 years clean today!! Nineteen years ago at this time, my life was TOTALLY different and about to take an even more dramatic turn. It seems like I've lived 2 lives.....the one now and the other one! LOL.

Terri - yes, I'm going to meet that crazy tatooed rocker dude that you liked when I posted his picture (LOL)!!!

Sabrina - did your Urban Rebounder stuff come yet? Have you heard anything on your yoga DVDs?

Have great workouts everyone. I'll try to check in later.

Good morning lovely ladies!

I'm FINALLY done schmoozing with the new bosses and can back to normal. I don't know how vegetarians do it during conferences - at lunch I had salad and potatoes - healthy, but low on the GI index. I can't wait to eat my normal stuff again! YEAH!

I have MIC on the agenda today. Yoga in the afternoon.

Marietta - you were the one I wanted to tell to have fun with Amy

Terri - Sorry about that!

Lora - I think you should do that and do not feel guilty. I would love to work from home today, but that's not going to get me what I need (my job to continue), so I'll go in.

HUGS to everyone! It's going to be a nice day here in the Bay Area - FINALLY! But, it's going to rain again tomorrow afternoon. It's too damp to do anything outside - if I were to go trail running I'd sink to my knees in the mud!) but it's going to be absolutely WONDERFUL to drive to work with the sun shining!!!

Good Morning Maniacs!!

This morning I did an Extended LowMax workout...I'm going to lunch with a good friend so I won't be working out, but I do have to teach a class tonight.

Lora - Thanks for the advice on the Yoga...I think these will be good for me to try on the weekend. I need this in my life and have for quite some time...So I'm hoping to do one Sat or Sun. I think I'm getting somewhere with my Amy workouts...just have to be in the right mindset when I do these. I agree that you should take the days off guilt-free...you deserve it!!

Christine - Conferences are just plain hard for anyone trying to eat right in my opinion. You don't get many healthy choices to choose from. Glad the sun is shining in your part of the world. We are supposed to get storms later on today.

Hi to all that follow...I'll be back!

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

Yesterday I ran for 1 hour.....interval run towards the end. Worked chest/back off smith machine and got in 2 blast moves from Imax 2.

Today I will do some circuit work, abs and some more Imax 2 blast.

Lora,

You better watch those men from buckcherry don't pinch your butt or something. You did see their video? LOL! You know your DH would not like that. He He He!

Marietta,

Enjoy your lunch with your friend. Hope class goes well for you tonight. I sent you an email.

Christine,

I am glad you are getting some sunshine today! Yeah, and no mudd wrestling, o.k?

Hey guys! I'm here Marietta!:7 :7

Today I jogged for 2.5 miles. Man, I get so bored and find jogging grueling. This, coming from a cross country runner in the past.
I then did PUB (just not the pikes). I’m toast! I’d really like to squeeze in another jog when my husband gets home. Wow, he’s ACTUALLY home each night. So far, so good with this job change.

Christine, we had snow again yesterday. It’s so stinking cold! We sit by the fireplace in the morning and wear our winter coats still. I used to travel A LOT with my job and it was very difficult to find “clean” food. I’d just try to watch my portions and run stairs at the hotel and sometimes jump on the bed for fun. Shhhh, don’t tell anyone.;) hahaha

We’re going the Outerbanks, Nags Head, NC on the 15th through the 23rd. Since we’re driving, the Easter Bunny may visit the hotel. I’m looking forward to some warm weather for sure.

Marietta, I’d LOVE to do an extended version of LM. I squeeze in what I can. I really can’t plan too well. My poor guy is so loaded with gas. Last night he had an “explosion” in his pants….all gas! Where are you going for lunch? Have a nice time. I really enjoy going out with friends.

Lora, do you keep your workout room really warm? I hardly ever turn red. I always wear pants and a sweatshirt too. I keep my room around 66 degrees.

Sabrina, how did your Open House apts. go yesterday?

I’ll be back later.

Susan

Good to be back in the office so I can chat with you lovely ladies!

Marietta - Sun today, yes, but it's supposed to end around noon tomorrow and rain through the weekend. It's amazing here. Resevoirs are overflowing, waterfalls are everywhere...

Charlotte - DARN!!! There goes all my fun! No mud wrestling?! What the heck am I supposed to do for outdoor fun? That's about the only thing you can do here.

Susan - oh, good news on your DH's job! How's the baby? I love the OuterBanks. My dad is moving to Emerald Isle and I plan to visit him often!! I'll be down end of July/August in fact.

Ended up subbing intervals and blasts 5-10 from IMax 3 for the Step in MIC - I'm not fond of that step workout - sashays and me? Not a pretty picture at all! I really enjoyed this combo. I'm thinking of doing one of my Spinerval CD's at the gym. I MISSED hard core workouts! I feel so good right now.

Have a wonderful day ladies!!!

Hi Ladies! Here I am Marietta!!

I have been busy. Showed a house to a guy at 11:00 and it looks good. He is looking into financing, I had to give him some phone numbers for banks here in town. Keep your fingers crossed (and everything else for that matter.) lol

I have to work 3:30-5:00 for someone at the office.

I started my training yesterday for the Race for the Cure May 13th. I posted it in yesterday's post but it was later in the day so I don't know if anyone saw it or not.

Lora-I did get the DVD's yesterday in the mail. I hope to get some time later to watch them. We will see. The boys got out of school at 11:30 today. ICKY! CONGRATULATIONS on the 19 years!!!

Susan-Have a nice trip! The Easter bunny is visiting us at the Great Wolf Lodge in Wisconsin. I found some eggs that are called zero gravity. Some has string, some have suction cups, and some have sticky on them. The boys are going to love it when they find them all over the room. LOL!

Hope everyone has a great day!!

Hey guys...I see some of you came out of the woodwork??

Lora - CONGRATULATIONS on your 19 years of cleaness....I apologize for not mentioning it earlier. I definitely took note of it, but failed to acknowledge. That is sooooo awesome!!!!

Hey Susan - Sounds like you need a Cardio Coach...maybe that would get you in the mood. Check it out...can't go wrong. What do you do when babies have gas?? Been so long...I forgot.

Sabrina - Sorry...I missed your post yesterday...I thought you dissed us or something (smile). Are you going to run or walk on May 13th? When are you going to Wisconsin?? I think the Great Wolf Lodge is great!!

Well...I went to Quiznos for lunch? You guys heard of that...It's right around the corner. I had an excellent sandwich and some baked chips (love those things). It's not too far from here...my friend met me and we walked over. I hadn't seen her in a while...we had a good time catching up on things.

Feels wierd not working out at lunch...I don't workout to lose weight or to look a certain way. I honestly just like doing it. Working out at lunch gives a little pick me up...I miss it when I don't do it. But I'm glad to have spent time with my friend.

Well...I'll probably be back later. Have a wonderful afternoon!!

LOL! No I didn't diss you! :) I love talking to you ladies! I was just busy and couldn't get to the computer yesterday. DH stayed home to watch our youngest and he was in meetings on the computer and on the phone all day.

Emily and I are going to run on May 13th.

We are leaving for the Great Wolf Lodge the 14th (early because I have a Dr's appt in La Crosse, Wisconsin at 3:00. This is my allergy specialist) and we are staying until Monday the 17th and we plan on leaving later in the day.

Some one is here I will be back later!

Hey Everyone,
Today a cardio is on my to do list, but I am not quite sure what kind?? I may just ride or I may do CTX kickbox and extend it a little!!

Last night I did CTX power circuits and all I can say is WOW!! I thought I reallly worked it the other day with KPC, but last night about killed me!! I was dripping sweat and my hr got up 180's:eek: LOVED it!! So I think I am going to go on a CTX kick:7

Ideally I would like to get 1 hour of cardio in, but man CTX is intense. I am thinking I will extend on portions I like to make it longer.

Lora have fun meeting the band:7

Terri I have a good outdoor bike as well I head on your way when the wheather gets nicer;)

Susan hope you have a wonderful time!! We are going to my sisters 13-16th.... I can't wait!!

Sabrina that is GREAT to hear you are running in a race!! YOu go girl!! I hope that guy comes up with the bucks:D

Marietta deviation from routine sometimes are good!! Esp. having lunch with a friend. YOu can get back at it tomorrow, but I know how you feel I work out because of the stress relief, and those darn endorphins:)

Diane Sue thanks for your opinion on cardio coach!! I will order 4 or 5 maybe after the holidays:D

Hello to everyone else!!

~Nicole

Good afternoon
Today I did Cardio Party mix1 stopping at the cooldown, then cardio party 2 skipping the w/u and st, then Yoga X. Would like to do some abs but may sve it for tomorrow and this weekend. I am taking my grandson to the doctors office his mother works at after school. He has terrible nose bleeds. I am trying to get some work done around here. I can't get my networking back up so think I am going to have to call someone:( We have had some really nice weather here. I have been encouraging the children to get outside.

Hi to everyone

Diane Sue how are you liking your Turbo jams?? Do you like them as well as Cathes kickboxing??

Hope everything is alright with your grandson.

~Nicole

Hi All!!!!

We're back! It's been slow moving today. I did get a workout in today. I did KPC everything but the high impact part. I even did most of the jump kicks. I then did about 15 minutes of KM (low impact) and the leg conditioning drills. I don't think I'll start a rotation until next week. I'll get acclimated again. lol

Disney World was a blast. We did all the big attractions. Animal Kingdom: Safari and Everest roller coaster (oh my!!!!); MK: Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain (and a bunch of smaller rides for the little people. ha ha! ;-); Epcot: Test Track and Soarin; MGM: Tower of Terror (oh my!!!! ) We stayed for all the nighttime shows at each of the parks. They were wonderful!

Marietta ~ I thought of you on my dd's b-day on April 1st. Happy Belated Birthday!!!!! I hope it was a good one. What did you do? We had dinner in Norway with all the princesses at Epcot. The laser show was fantastic!!! My dd had quite the celebration!

Sabrina ~ My (biological) sister and mom spent a lot of time with us and they said it's absolutely beautiful at Christmas time. It was so much fun having my sister there w/her dd. We had a lot of laughs! :7 I hate that she lives in Fla. TOO FAR from us!!!:-(

I had to sprint yesterday back to our hotel room from the restaurant and my foot/ankle held out just fine!!!:7 We forgot the kid's autograph books and we were having breakfast w/Mickey and friends. Oh the things you do for your kids! I arrived all sweaty and my mil wanted to take my picture w/Lilo. lol!

Diane Sue ~ My dh has been getting terrible nose bleeds as well lately. He has not gone to the doctor though.....stubborn. I'll be interested in what the dr says about your grandson.

Hi all! I guess I'll have to go back and read up and see what everyone has been up to for the last week. Or maybe you all can fill me in! Any updates on Cathe's injury. I didn't see anything pinned. I hope she's OK.

Back to routine. I have to go make dinner. :-( It was nice not cooking for a week. However, it was NOT clean eating. But oh so good!!!!:9

Dallas

Hey Dallas!!!

We missed you!!!!!

Sounds like you had an excellent time!!! We'd all be saying that we bet you were having a blast!!

Is it possible to eat clean on a trip like that?? I don't think so...

Glad you foot did good with your sprinting...that's a good thing.

Boy! It sure doesn't take long to get back into the old routine does it?

I didn't do ANYTHING on my birthday....the most uneventful birthday I've ever had. But I'm okay with that. I'm just happy and feel blessed that I made it to see another year. I just thought I'd let you and your DD celebrate for me...sounds like you did your job well.

Nothing new on Cathe....she's still resting.

Got new workouts to tell you about, but I'll do that another time...I gotta go get ready to teach a class.

Glad you're back!!

Good Evening beautiful fitness ladies!!! (We are HOT, aren't we?!?) *feels fiesty and ready to go today* I got my P90X today! It's sitting at home on my doorstep! *does happy dance around the room* Now I just have to decide when to start it!

Sabrina - Good luck with the house! Sounds promising! I love that your running in the Race for the Cure. Do you have a sponsor Website or anything? Can I donate through you?

Marietta - I love Quizno's - my favorite is there veggie sandwich! I do know what you mean about not working out though - it's the little something you need, that's legal, to make it through to afternoon!

Diane Sue - nice to have nice weather for a change, isn't it? I'm still wringing out from the last two weeks.

Dallas - WELCOME BACK!!! So glad to hear you had a fabulous time in Mickey land! We missed you, though! Happy to have you back.

I also got my stock check from the company merger today. DH was giving me a little grief over yet ANOTHER package sitting on the doorstep. I reminded him that I was paying for his wine fridge (he's been buying really nice wines and we're storing them at room temp! *shudders*) with this little something extra, so if he wants it, he'd better not argue when a box arrives. He shut up. He's very excited about the wine fridge. Me, I'm much more excited about the P90X. Thinking of maybe doing Kenpo X and Ab Ripper to get a feel for Tony. :p (Kickbox was on the agenda for tomorrow anyway).

Last check in,
I never did get to some ab work so it will be tomorrow I hope. I have someone coming out either tomorrow afternoon or Monday on the networking and I have someone coming out on our new desk tomorrow. This means I better get in gear in the morning early. This has not happened as much as I would like. Maybe it was the vacation or the time change. I just really want to sleep in in the mornings.

Lora, are the Maximum Turbos Jams more intense than the first set? I would realy like to have these.

Christine, It snowed when dh was home and the following weekend it was close to 80. It was so hot when we went to the mideival fair Sunday. Today we had a light rain in the am and then the sun came back out. I love putting out plants and enjoying the nice weather. Have fun with the new P90X workouts.

Nicole, I am really liking the Turbo Jams. I got the first set. It is what I would consider intermediate to advanced depending on what you put into it. The workouts are fun and I look forwards to doing them. I liked ab jam, cardio party mix 1 and cardio party 2(not in the set). I have not tried Turbo Sculpt yet. The 20 minute workout is just ok. More of a learning dvd. I wish they did not put this set on two dvd's though as I would like to loan the first one to my daughter, but have not tried the sculpt yet. Comparing these to Cathe I would say they are kind of in between on levels(depending on which Cathe Kickbox you are doing). They are a lot more dancy. I like the standing work on the abs one and I feel you get a lot of ab work in the workouts themselves.
