Hardcore Fitness Maniacs Check In for Thurs 5-18

Cathlete
Morning Ladies -

This morning I did Turbo Jam Cardio Party 3. I forgot what fun these were...haven't done one for a while. I used my 1.5 pound gloves for part of it and then used my 1/2 pound Tae Bo balls.

I just ordered 1 pound gloves from Amazon cuz I think I need to work up to the 1.5 pounds and didn't want to push it too much today with all of the neck, trap and shoulder pain I've been having. I got Everlast ones that were $10.95 but the shipping was $6.99. I'm too busy to go out to the store though!

Charlotte - Just saw your PM. They are Yamuna balls for muscle pain.....LOL...and I have the hard little nobby ones called Goose Bumps!! LOL. Yamuna's were just listed in a fitness magazine as one of the best things for self massage for cheap!

Have great workouts ladies and I'll try to check in from work.

Good Morning Maniacs!!!

I am off work today!!!!! YIPEE!!!! My supervisor revised the schedule and finially I will start to have a day off during the week (thursdays). I really needed this! So I am going to mow today, clean and then grocery shopping later. My workouts today will be working biceps/tri's/shoulders and then I will do a interval run for 30 mins. Gosh, I am going to be busy, but I will have fun getting so much done!!!!

Lora,

I know you weren't on any other balls! LOL! So you like the hard ones do you? LOL! Anyhoo, you workout sounds fun while wearing weighted gloves. I should get some for KPC, etc.

Charlotte~~

Good Morning,
I thought I would give a pre check in this morning. My plans are Turbo Jam and Yoga X. I am not sure if I will do all of Yoga X. It will depend on how much time I have. I want to do some upper and lower circuits Friday and Saturday. Today is a break from weights, since I hit everything once already.

Lora, I got my 1# gloves at Target. I started out holding my Jolie shoe weights in each hand. That was convenient because I could put them down if I thought a move was risky. I am using the gloves more than I did at first. I still have some concern about using them so am trying to be very aware of any shoulder or joint discomfort.

Hi to everyone
Diane Sue
http://wd.1ww.us

Got up this morning and just DID NOT feel like doing cardio. I decided on a pretty easy one, Step Max. It was actually quite boring and my HR didn't get up that much. Also, all of the wooing in this workout was really getting on my nerves. I never noticed it that much, not sure why I did this morning. I was in my zone for 32 minutes and burned 226 calories. I also did Step Heat abs. Tomorrow is my rest day! Yay!

Why does Cedie look so different in this workout? Is that her or someone else?

Diane Sue - you had a kick ass workout yesterday! Wow! I am in awe of you!

Hope you all have great workouts!

Good morning ladies,

I wasn't able to write back last night, had a little league game for grandson, then grocery shopping so it was late. I did read all the posts. I was watching the Discovery Channel last night and the show was called "Rebuilt". This guy approached the ladies in the office about a contest to lose weight and get fit, you should have seen the revulsion in their eyes when he said it. That seems to be a consensus for a lot of people. Like there is this huge dread factor involved for most people. And all of us love it so much and are addicted. What's the matter with us? We must have issues LOL! I wouldn't change a thing!

Anyway, today's workout was 1/2 hour of Rhythmic Step and then Bowflex combined with free weights for an upper body workout. I went heavy on triceps and biceps, feels pretty good now. Tonite will be a bike ride with the ladies. We'll do some climbing and it'll be hot after work, but it'll be a good one, I'm sure. Have a metric ride (62 miles) on Sunday, with an organized century ride (100 miles) the following week. I really don't have the miles in my legs for a century yet, but what the heck, if we do it slow, should be manageable, though not pretty LOL!

Diane Sue, enjoy your TJ and YogaX. Sounds like my workout yesterday, only mine was much shorter. I only have an hour to workout as my time is limited in the morning. I workout from 3:30 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. and then do DH's lunch, my lunch, breakfast, post here, shower, get ready to be at work by 6:30.

Charlotte, know you will enjoy this day off! Will you have your weekends free too? I love my Friday off, no DH at home and I can get housework done, check the forums more often, my own schedule, sleep in if I want.

Lora, glad you enjoyed TJ Cardio Party 3. I'll need to own that one too. Oh so many to get!

Debbie, once in a while that happens to me too. Just not in the mood. I hadn't done step for a while so RS made me huff and puff a bit until I warmed up.

Must jump in the shower now!

Jeanette

Charlotte - do you ever do any workouts other than Cathe? Do you own any? Just curious.

Hi everyone!! It's been raining here for days and I'm sick of it. My boss is in a meeting ....so I thought I'd pop in.

Christine - congrats on the job offer....I'm just sitting here typing a memo about all of the employees from our department getting cut the first round.

ETA: I forgot - I just got the Ropenastics DVDs with the jump rope. I was previewing it last night. Given that I can do all of the figure eight swinging moves etc. (never done anything like this before)....this looks fun. My DH even sounds interested. The music's not bad either. I better try them soon cuz if I'm not coordinated enough, I can return to Collage.

I'm also going to have a VHS yoga tape to get rid of soon. I'm waiting for the DVD to arrive from Amazon. I ordered Yoga for Weightloss with Sara Ivanhoe (cuz it's 45 min) and it came with the Joy of Yoga by Crunch that I have on tape. I'll put it up for grabs when the DVD arrives.

Lora,

I have some old Tony Little tapes...I really should just throw them away by now. Geez! Anyhoo, also have a tonectics workout that dates back to the 80's. It is a good toning workout though so it is a keeper, but I don't have any others but Cathe.

Jeanette,

Hey you! I work on Saturdays too. See, this is why I DEFINITELY need a day off during the week. I read your post about transformations. There is this girl at work that said to me yesterday that I am probably "one of those" that can eat whatever I want. Talk about getting your blood pressure up! My eyes got big and I told her she couldn't be more wrong. Alot of people have no idea that you workout hard for 2 or more hours a day and think about everything you put in your mouth and how much and how often. They have no clue! Really burned me up when she said that to me though.

Charlotte~~

Good Morning Ladies,

Looks like some good workouts going on. Debbie maybe youu need a rest day and that is why you weren't in the mood today. Enjoy your rest day tomorrow :) Today I am going to do Chest and back Gymstle, run at the park, and ctx kickbox later.

Daves band has a show tomorrow night. I am looking forward to that. Also he got another job offer that he may take. He just started the new one but this offer is WAY to good to turn down. I even figured this would happen. The one job he really wants would call when he got another one! I am very happy for him.

Christine-Good luck with your interview. I hope it works out the way you want.
Suz-That is great that Karin is in with us meeting!
Nicole-My thoughts are with you and DS.
Lora-Where do you put all the workouts you have? :)
Charlotte-Enjoy your day off from work
Netta-WOW you and lora ae early birds!
DIane Sue-How is DH adjusting to life at home again?
Dallas-How is your son feeling?
Sabrina-Are you still running now that the race is over?
Marietta-Yeah I brought this torture on myself :) I swear I need to not be so darn nice! :)
Susan-How is everything going?
Debbie-Glad the reducing water worked for you.

Ok I hope I got everyone.

Terri

Good Morning Maniacs!!

This morning was weird....I didn't know what I wanted to do. I'm seriously considering a long run at lunch today so I wasn't sure what to do this morning. I decided to do intervals 6-10 of IMAX 2 and I did the Cardio & Weights step section #2 twice....think I'm going to teach it to my class later so I wanted to make sure I had it....crazy huh?

It's supposed to be 10 miles today at lunch....we'll see.

My co-worker is not here....I hope she is not dying. I can't wait to hear her excuse. Now, because she isn't here, I have to work tomorrow....that sucks!! Now I'm mad!!!!!

Lora - Never worked out with weighted gloves...I think I'm kinda worried about injuring myself. That's just my own personal decision...never know, just might try it one day. Have a great day!

Toasty - Enjoy your day off....you'll be running around like the energizer bunny....I can just see you now!! Hope you get everything done that you wanted to get done.

Diane Sue - Have a great workout...looks like you've got a good one lined up!

Debbie - I understand the feeling believe me I do! Well...something is better than nothing. I don't have Step Max, so I' can't respond to the Cedie question...interested in the answer though.

Netta - So how'd the game go? Did your grandson's team win?? We do have a different mindset of that there is no doubt. Generally people don't want to do any work...they want quick and easy...they want to have their cake and eat it to...that's just the way of the world. Our bodies are a temple and should be treated as such. It's not about how you look because there are somethings that we cannot change about ourselves. Ultimately we are to keep our self in the best mental and physical state that we can by exercising and eating right....so no, we are not in the norm. And I like you, would not change a thing!! I need to pull out Rhythmic Step...haven't done that one in a while.

Hi to all that follow....

I'll be back,

What does everyone think of the contraversial movie "The Davinci Code"? Should I go see it or not? It's supposed to be fiction...but there's all kinds of talk about younger people not understanding that. The DH says we shouldn't support it. What do ya'll think?

Terri - storage is a HUGE problem for me. I've got them stacked in boxes right now.....but I may need to add a room on soon. LOL. My DH is the one that tells me not to pitch the old ones, but yells when I get new ones....makes no sense to me! (I also have 2 DVD/tape racks filled with about 300 others)

Marietta - why? Are the gloves known to cause injuries? I'm careful about not overextending, etc.

Hey Everyone,
Today I am going to do Cardio Kicks by Cathe, and DT day 3:D

Netta I LOVE watching shows like that!! I just don't understand why people always Dis on working out??? I feel so good when I am doing it!!

Diane Sue do you have shoulder problems??? I have seen where you posted about hand wt concerns?? I bought some 1 lb hand gloves, and I gradually worked up to using them. I really like them. I would not want to go heavier than 1 lb though.

Christine sending positive vibes your way!! Although I know you will interview great!! Keep us posted!!

Charlotte don't get upset about what that girl said!! I am sure it was one of those not thinking before you say...... You look GREAT!! Are you still working your butt??? I tell I have been doing Cathes Kickboxing everyother day, and that is where I feel it:D

Terri have fun at Daves concert!! Wish I could come with you!! I could really go for a strawberry dac:7

Lora I say go and tell us all about it?? I really don't watch TV so I did not know about all the hoopala??

Suz you are so sweet!! Today when I took Colby to get his blood drawn I saw the cutest little baby there. I'm sure she had Cancer or something. It does just breaks your heart.

Hopefully I will hear soon what his count is?? They were real busy today though........ so it will prob. be this afternoon that I find out???

Dallas I missed that Thread on rebounding??? Now that we have this check in thread this is the only place I have had the time to go. I will try and check it out. I have a urban rebounder and so does Lora.... they now sell it at Dicks.

Well gotta get going!!!

Hello To everyone!!

~Nicole

Lora - I PM'd you about The Da Vinci Code. I have no issues putting what I said out to everyone, but I didn't want to start a flame war.

Everyone - thanks for the good vibes - they worked. The foot is 100% better. I even managed to do Legs and Glutes today. I'm going to do some Ellipitcal over lunch - don't want to put too much impact on it as of yet, but I'm holding out hopes that I can do my long run on Saturday. *knocks on wood*

Charlotte - enjoy your day off!!!

Diane Sue - I really like Yoga X - I just never have time to do it all! Enjoy it!

Debbie - never did Step Heat. Now you have my curiousity peaked.

Jeanette - OH! Have fun with your metric century AND your century ride! 100 miles is tough on a bike! My feet go numb after 80 miles. :)

Terri - Oh that's so good about your DS! Go DAVE GO!!! I love that. I'll bet he's walking on water right now. That's exciting!

Marietta - Have fun on your ten miles! I think you should come out to California and run the Half is July with us. That would be fun!!

Nicole - have fun with Cardio Kicks.

Good morning,

This morning I did CC#4 on the bike for interval training. It was a great workout. I rode for an hour and 18 minutes and I think CC is 40 minutes. The rest of the time I rode to music. My ride out (with CC) was directly into a headwind of about 12.6 mph. Not terrible, but sheesh. I'm tired of the wind. I forgot to reset my computer, so when I got back and checked my speed, I was bummed b/c it averaged in my slow hill training from Tuesday. I hate when I do that! And the whole 10 miles back my average speed was between 26 and 28mph (love wind at my back). My lower body is achy today - like when you have the flu or something. I don't get it. Whenever I ride I have a constant burn in my quads. It's like that feeling when you're lifting and trying to push out those last couple of reps. It's like my body doesn't clear the lactic acid or something, but how can I have it from the beginning? I wonder if it's all related to my high heart rate??? Anyone know about this stuff?

Lora - I just love hearing about all your different workouts. Do I say that every day? :)

Charlotte - Happy day off! I commend you on getting your workouts in. I don't know how you do it b/c as you know, if I don't do it in the morning, it doesn't get done. Slap your co-worker for me, k?

Diane Sue - do you have shoulder issues? I have one that can get messed up if I'm not careful and it takes FOREVER to heal!

Debbie - I hate days like that where you just don't feel like doing cardio. But you did it anyway! Way to go!

Jeanette - wow, you really have some miles planned. I want to be just like you. Hehehe. I still can't believe how early you get up to work out. That's dedication and puts all excuses to shame!

Terri - sounds like you have a great workout planned! Good luck on Dave's job. Murphy's Law. :)

Christine - good luck on the possible job. I'd love to hear your thoughts on Da Vinci too. You can PM me or just post it here. I doubt you'd get flamed on this check-in.

Nicole - that makes me so sad (again!). Let us know when you find out DH's results. You know we're all pulling for him!

Marietta - you sure have a busy day planned (and part of it behind you). You go girl!!! That's a real bummer about your co-worker. That would make me angry too. I have ANOTHER co-worker who comes to work but is gone a lot during the day. There was an office coverage issue today and she suggested I cover the office because she has group for an hour (AA) and then wants to take an hour lunch (how about skipping that extra hour once in a while?). I already had a lunch scheduled. She NEVER EVER covers the office for us b/c she's always at AA meetings and then proceeds to take another hour "lunch". Really p!sses me off. She's been going to these meetings for a year and a half and we've all had to cover for her. When she's here she's constantly leaving the office on her cell phone because she's mentoring 2 people for AA and they call her all day long. And it's the college cell phone used 99% for personal use. Anyway, my assistant and our office assistant jumped in and said I couldn't cover b/c I had a meeting. Love those ladies. :)

I suppose I better go work, speaking of not working.

Christine - Thanks for the PM - I printed it for my DH cuz I actually want to go see the movie but he doesn't want to because he's afraid of supporting something that young people are going to be influenced by because their faith is not strong enough. I have one niece who is an "antagonist" .....I think that's what she calls it.....I call it "atheist"....but I won't go into that on here. My DH & I have strong faith because it's part of our recovery program (God based). My DH didn't want to go see that Mel Gibson movie cuz he was afraid it would be too bloody! The funny part is that we ended up in the dead front row cuz the mantinee was practically sold out...so we saw all of that up close. I thought that movie was done well, but of coursse, it wasn't fiction.

I gotta run before my boss catches me typing on here. I'll be back later.

Lora - My dh and I are going to go see the Divinci Code. Not sure I want to see it, but he does. I probably won't even understand much of it.

Charlotte - don't you hate people like that? I get those comments said to me as well. If they only knew what we do and give up to look this way.

Someone mentioned Step Heat abs that I did this morning (sorry, I can't remember who), the ab section is really good but basically just a bunch of different versions of the crunch. Step Heat's step workout (which I didn't do this morning, I did Step Max) is not that great. She doesn't count right in this workout for some odd reason. She usually does the entire step segment 4 times through when she's done teaching it and in one of the step segments in SH she only does it three times. I always stop it and do the fourth one. Its a pain.

Morning everyone!

I got up at my usual time (5A), however so did the rest of the family....staggered. Grrr Well, the boys did anyway. So, it was a slightly choppy workout, but I managed to salvage it. lol

I did a little over 30 minutes of RS, (1st interruption ;-) ), then I hopped on the treadmill for 20 minutes (couldn't get back into RS) and then 12 minutes of jump roping and a stretch. I think that was over 400 calories! I did PS Back & biceps after I got everyone fed and my ds6 on the bus.

I've been on the phone a lot lately w/my dsil. She found out on Monday that her dad should be placed under Hospice care. :-( This is the exact week two years ago we had to make the decision for my mom. I'm trying to be helpful for my sil, but I always wind up crying. :-( I'll be taking her boys as soon as both houses get well, so she can spend more time with him.

Christine ~ That is wonderful news about your foot!!!!! :7 :7 :7

Terri ~ Have fun with that workout! Good for Dave!!

Marietta ~ Good luck with the 10 miler! You do just fine!

Nicole ~ Thanks for the info about the rebounder. Laurie in the OD was asking about what she should do with the rebounder. I told her you and Lora use yours a lot. Maybe you could help her out? Please keep us posted about your ds.

Jeanette ~ ha ha! We were probably doing RS at the same time. I wanted to test the waters (foot) with step. I miss it so much! Good luck with your metric and century ride! Holy smokes! How old is your grandson? How did he do?

Lora ~ Please give a review on that jump rope DVD. I'm liking the jump roping, right now. ;-)

Diane Sue ~ Hmm. 1# gloves at Target. Maybe I should look into that? IS you hubby all settled in now? Good workout planned, of course.

Debbie ~ Don't have Step Max either. Enjoy your rest day tomorrow.

Susan ~ How do you like PS? I'm not sure about that one. I think if you go from GS or S&H to PS it doesn't seem as tough. I was wishing I had more time today to add on to the weight part of my workout. Oh well, I'll get a full body workout in Sat.

Charlotte ~ Enjoy your day off. Boy, do you sound busy! Good luck getting everything done.

Hi Suz and Sabrina!

I have PT later. I needed to reschedule.

Dallas

Suz - I should have saved it what I wrote. But basically - I read the book, and really enjoyed it. Personally I think the Da Vinci Code is the best thing that happened to religion (any religion) in American in a long time. There is so much controversey about it, that religion in general is on the news nightly. When was the last time that happened? Lora had mentioned that there was worry that the younger generation will accept the movie blindly, but I think our kids are smarter than we give them credit for. They will see the movie and research the various ideas on the Internet. That's what my kids do, and all of their friends. It's amazing actually. I also think that one thing is really forgotten in all of the controversey. At no point does Dan Brown ever question that God exists and that Jesus is the son of God. The real foundation of Christianity is not brought into question with this book. What IS brought into question is the pomp and circumstance of the Catholic Church and the reasons behind some of the practices. Now I don't know how much of that will translate into the movie. Okay, so there is some question in the movie about Jesus's personal life, but all documents supporting that have been proven false. I am Catholic born and raised and I have raised my kids Catholic, but I do not necessarily agree with all of the church's teachings, especially in regard to the role of women in the church. And I actually found some of the information involving that much more interesting and controversial than the main premise of the book, if that makes any sense. Of course, I am always up for a friendly debate.

Marietta - I too wanted to say that I'm sorry you have to work tomorrow. I hate when people take advantage. With my job ending in July, so many people have no desire to do anything, so those of us who feel that we're still being paid and we should step up to the plate, are a lot more stressed. So, I do understand. I hope it gets better.

Christine,

Thanks for the recap. :) I know nothing about the book. I've only heard grumblings and was worried that God's existence or Jesus as the son of God was questioned. That made me not want to see it. Thanks for clearing that up. I'm sure we'll end up seeing it, as we rent a lot of movies so we can justify our monstrosity of a tv.

Suz - I was reading your comments to Marietta. I would NEVER tell people at work about my history (being recovering). It's one thing that I never tell my co-workers. However, when I was first clean, I got close to a girl (at another hospital) and one day she came out of the blue and told me she was newly recovering and heard (from someone) that I was and what an inspiration I was to her (I probably had 5 years at the time) because I was so good and my job, etc. We became REALLY good friends. She worked in another dept at the last hospital I worked at. (P.S. - why doesn't she just go to a night meeting -- that's what I used to do!!!). Your recovery is important, but you need to eat!

My boss went to another meeting. The stuff's getting ready to hit the fan around here.

Hi guys!

Today I ran three miles, followed by 400 walking lunges with five pound weights, and then did GS-Chest and Triceps.
I received MTV Pilates Mix from Netflix and would like to try that today too!
I guess I’m feeling guilty from last night’s dinner.

Diane Sue, thanks for pointing out that Target has wrist weights. I’ve got to go there within a week anyway, so I’ll check them out.

Dallas, I agree, I think going from SH to GS then PS may seem easy. But, if things go according to plan, I’ll be going back to work by then and it should be fine. I might even switch and do the Pyramids for a while. We’ll see. I’m so sorry you’re going through a very sad time right now. It’s nice that you and your family all support each other.

Lora, my son pulled out our jump rope just this morning. I could only use it outside, but I look forward to hearing what you think of the dvd.

Jeanette Thanks for point out that show. I think I’m too vain to just let myself go. Sure there are tons of times I’d love to eat and drink whatever “tasted” good. It’s those who just don’t care that blow my mind.

Terri, have fun watching your sons band!

Marietta, when is your marathon race?

Nicole, how did Colby make out? Did I miss your “report”?

Suz, I wish I could help with your question. Maybe you could ask Cathe.

Debbie, sometimes I just don’t feel like doing cardio either. I have even started to do it, and stopped….just because.

Have a great afternoon!
Susan
