Morning Fitness Maniacs -

My alarm didn't go off this morning....so I'm sort of having a hectic morning. I did Amy Bento's Step & Pump. I didn't do too bad on the step portion for the first part and then I got a drink of water and was lost for the rest of it. She doesn't cue very well on this (or it was just me). I payed attention to the whooing this morning and I don't think she hardly does it on this DVD. Maybe she's been reading feedback. This had some unique weight moves. I particularly liked one she did for the biceps that was unlike anything I've ever done and I really felt it. She also does her lunges on the step a bit differently keeping your back leg straight and sort of rocking forward and back (hard to explain) but it worked well for the legs.

Have great workouts everyone. I'll try to check in from work, but it will be busy today. Payroll is due in by 11:00 am....so I will be going crazy.

Good morning Maniacs:

It's a rest day for me today, along with that rescheduled massage, something to look forward to after work.

Yesterday's group bike ride had 9 of us on it. We did 45 miles at a pretty good clip. Also had about 1500' of climbing. 1/2 way thru, we stopped in the little town of Chester and had coffee and 1/2 a muffin (carrot cake and raisin), sat outside in the sun and enjoyed our stop. The temp was perfect for cycling and the lake was spectacular. Returned home, enjoying time with our DS, and later invited my folks over for a BBQ and watched King Kong. It was the end of a perfect day!

Lora, can you explain the bicep move that Amy did? I always enjoy your reviews so much. Hope work isn't too hectic for you.

Jeanette

This morning I did Gym Style Back and then did Bi's. I had an excellent workout. I am still a bit sore from GS Chest & Tri's but its a lot better.

I started off doing pull-ups but since its been ages since I've done them, I did negative pull-ups. I did 2 sets of 6 reps doing a slow lower count of 5. It was a great warm-up for the back work.

My weights stayed about the same from the last time I did this workout but I was able to up the double arm rows from 15's to 20's. First time ever! Some of you may know that with my low back problems, its really hard for me to do anything bent-over. I'm very happy about that!

I started the bicep work using 40 lbs. for the barbell curls. I struggled a bit on the second set but did them all. My bi's were fried by the time I got done!

Lora - great workout! I may have to look into this workout.

Jeanette - excellent bike ride! Wow, 45 miles! I couldn't imagine!

Hope you all have a great workout!

Hey Everyone,
Today I plan on doing KPC and Hardcore chest.

Lora I hate down ward dogs, but I may be doing them more now that I know they are good for your sinus's!! I am coming off a sinus infection have felt awful!!

Netta where do you live?? That sounds like a wonderful bike ride!! It has been raining here for the last 5 days!!

Debbie WOW 40 lbs for biceps curls I am impressed. You and Charlotte are STRONG:7

Sabrina congrats on your run, and making the paper:7 You look so cute:D

Diane Sue thanks for all the info about TJ. I did not order the first set.... Do I really need the learn and burn??? Those elite moves she talks about??? Btw happy to hear Bill made it back!! Enjoy:D

Dallas what big party did you have going on yesterday???

Well I gotta go take the kids to school!!

~Nicole

Hi Debbie,
Wow, you lift a lot. Good job on the 20's. That's the next set I'll need to get. Big jump from 15's to 20's for chest I'm thinking, but probably need to buy them so I won't make excuses.

Nicole, I live in northeastern California. We're high desert here, but edge of forest so we have the best of both worlds. Yesterday, it was cycling in forest country, around 5500' elevation. I agree, Debbie and Charlotte are strong. I don't own the Gym series, except for Legs, but will someday get them. Personally, I have the Learn and Burn and have only done it once. Nope, I don't think it's a must have. I will be ordering more TJ's though. Such a fun factor to them.

Must go to work now, great workouts to all.

Jeanette

My boss left for a second and Payroll's not going to be that bad. The hard part is when everyone forgets to punch in and out and I have to fix them and figure their time!! Annoying!

Regarding the bicep move - she stands with one foot on the step and one on the ground, slightly bent over (almost like your going to do lat rows ...but don't bend down that far). Support your weight with your left arm and hang your arm with the dumbell straight down from your shoulder and do hammer curls....then after performing about 12 reps, start angling your arm across your body doing curls like that (your hand will be by the other shoulder). I hope I explained this well.

Nicole - I hate down dogs also and wasn't even doing them when I first started yoga. I'm not really allowed to do planks, chatarangas and downdogs...but when I read they were good for your sinuses, I started doing them. Check out the www.YogaJournal.com site to see what poses correlate with what internal organs. It's very interesting. They have an excellent website. I need to spend more time on it.

I have the worst pain today. I don't know how I'm gonna make it thru the day.

Netta thanks for the info:) I am really looking forward to getting these!! I really enjoy the hardcore GS's!! The band work really adds to the workout in a FUN way. California sounds beautiful!! Send some of the SUNSHINE to the Midwest:7

Lora have you noticed since doing the downward. Have your sinus's gotten better??? Thanks for the site!! This is the worse my sinus have ever been..... Pollen count is really high here in the midwest..... have you noticed??

~Nicole

Morning Ladies!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day!!

Nicole--Thanks!! lol I couldn't believe it when i opened the paper and there Emily and I were. It was so cool!! How much longer are your kids in school? My kids' last day is Monday. Where has the time gone???

Lora--Sorry about your pain!! I hope it gets better soon. Take is easy.

Dallas--How was your mother's day? How much longer do your kids have left of school?

Terri--Did you see your son yesterday?

Not sure what is on my agenda for today. I would like to get a run in on the treadmill since it is raining off and on here.

Today Dh and I have been married 13 years. Woo hoo!!

Have a great day ladies!!

Good Morning All!

Today, I did 45 minutes on the treadmill, running for 30 minutes of it. Just a steady run...nothing fancy. That was the first time for that in a long time. It felt great! I hope my ankle will agree later. ;-) I also did CM#1. I plan on doing upper body work shortly. I'm not sure which DVD to pull out. Hmmm, decisions, decisions.

We had a wonderful weekend despite the cold and rain. Yesterday we went for brunch and then took the kids to see The Goal, I think that was the name of it. Excellent movie!!! My kids play soccer so it held their interest.

Diane Sue/Bill ~ Awww, how sweet. You two are the cutest couple! :)

Sabrina ~ Way to go!!! I'll have to check out your pictures later.

Jeanette ~ Oh my! 45 miles! You sound like my PT. She just completed a triathalon and is already training for a half.

Debbie ~ Way to go on the increase! Whoa on the 40 barbell for bi's. I can do 30 lb, but haven't tried to increase lately.

Nicole ~ Sticking with kickboxing I see? I'm going to start adding kb back into the mix. How was your Mother's Day?

Lora ~ What's hurting you today? Hope you feel better soon!

Hi to all who follow!

Dallas

ETA: Happy Anniversary Sabrina! Any big plans? Our last day of school is June 2. Wow, your kids get out early! Time to play cruise director. lol! :p :+ :7

I've got a horrible migraine, shoulder, trap and neck pain. Ughhhhhhh....

I might have to start practicing run/walks on the treadmill and try to work up to running since my body's starting to handle impact slightly better lately. It also takes an awful lot of effort to get my HR up there lately. I think this will be a new goal of mine.

Back to Payroll.

Hello Ladies,

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Today is Rythmic Step and some abhits then a upperbody workout. Most likely Gymstyle BSB. The weather is gorgeous here! I kinda have the moday blahs but it will pass. Very busy today running my Business and my friends yogurt store business as well. Remind me to not EVER offer to do crazy things like this again :)

Dallas-Glad youu had a nice mothers day
Nicole-How is everything going?
Netta-Sounds like a great bike ride!

Terri

Happy Monday Maniacs!

Hope everyone had a great weekend...My weekend was good....kinda. I'm a little down because I have a friend that I've been trying to help out recently. She lost custody of her daughter because she has drug issues. I've been trying to be there for her out by helping, encouraging, listening and whatever else I could do. She's been MIA for a few weeks....I couldn't call her because her phone was dis-connected. I drove by her place, but she lives in a very rough area of town....I didn't want to knock on her door because if what I had suspected was correct, there was no telling who was in her apartment and I was not about to put myself in harms way. Yesterday confirmed it for me because I went to pick her up for church and she told me one lie after another. She asked me to pick her up and when I got there she said that she had to go to work...I guess she didn't know that I found out she lost her job *sigh*. Now, I don't think she will never get her daughter back. If getting her daugher back isn't a good enough reason...what can I do? Drugs are something else....I truly believed she could overcome this and she had be convinced that she really wanted her daughter back. I told her she would have to cut off her old friends...but she thought she was stronger than that I guess. She's about to lose everything she worked really hard for and there's nothing I can do about it...I feel so helpless.

The half-marathon I'm training for is a little over 2-weeks away. Yesterday, I ran a little over 9-miles before heading to church. The temps have been pretty cool so that made it nice...however, it was quite windy...but I just took it as challenge to push that much harder. After the run, I asked myself if I could have run the additional 4-miles to make it a total of 13-miles. I feel that I could have if I really needed to, but was glad I didn't have to. I'd really like to finish in 1:50. We'll see.

This morning I did Kelly Coffey's Ready, Set, Step and then did some shoulder work. It was my plan to do S&H shoulders, but it's 30 minutes and I didn't have that much time. Will have to get up earlier if I want to do S&H...hmmmmmm.

Lora - The workout sounds good. I didn't get that one from Amy. Does this one do a better job at keeping your heartrate up?

Netta - Enjoy your rest day. Sounds like you had an awesome day yesterday....way to go!! You should be on top of the world.

Debbie - Awesome!! Glad to hear that back of yours is getting better. You should be very happy about that....keep right on doing whatever you've been doing...it's obviously working!!

Nicole - Sorry about your sinus issues. That has to be a drag...hope it gets better. How's the family??

Sabrina - How's it going? I'll have to check out your pics...are they on your pic trail? Have a great workout...whatever you decide to do.

Dallas - A 30-minute run!! You go girl. Hope your ankle doesn't give you grief...I'm hopeful that it won't.

Hi to all that follow - Have great workouts!!

Guess I'm long-winded...I'll be back later.

Marietta - I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Thats a tough situation, but theres a time when you have to just cut yourself off for you own sanity purposes. She's a big girl, she knows right from wrong. She obviously needs help that she is not willing to look for. I feel bad for her daughter. That is such a sad situation. I pray all works out for her. Damn, 9 miles! That is awesome! I couldn't imagine doing 1. Heck, a 1/2! I'm a terrible runner! You go!!

Marietta--I am so sorry about your friend. I hope she can come to her senses and get things straightened out before she loses her daughter for good. That is so sad. It doesn't sound like she is ready to give up the drugs yet. You are a good friend for trying to help her.

The pictures are in my picture trail. There are not many though.

Good luck on your half-marathon. I will be rooting for you!!

Marietta - As a recovering addict - I hate to tell you this (and you probably know this in your heart - but you're just trying to help), there is really nothing you can do for her (aside from offering to take her to rehab). She really needs to hit a bottom. You can knock your head against a wall and it wouldn't do any good. An addict is an addict and it is a disease. We cannot help ourselves when we are in a destructive mode. I guess that's why they call what you have to do "tough love". I'm sure you know all of this cuz you said you've had experience with some of this in the past........just trying to help you see it thru someone's eyes that has been there. It brings tears to my eyes when I hear about the addict still out there suffering. It hurts my heart...a LOT.

Terri - yes, the arm stays in a hammer curl.

Whoever asked about the HR question and Amy. What tape are you comparing it to? I never had a problem getting my HR up with her except for Bootcamp, but I fixed that.

Good morning everyone!

This morning I did Power Hour (I KNOW you're all surprised by that). Then I added in some Bowflex leg extensions and abs at the end. Yesterday I rode with DH. As I think I mentioned, I ride with him for speed. We tried to go for an hour, but our ride ended up shorter than we planned. Our average speed was 18mph which for me is great this early in the year. I have high hopes. I have higher hopes for next year b/c we are already planning my training to start in January. So who's ready for Christmas? *ducking* }(

Diane Sue - what a wonderful hubby you have. How very sweet.

Terri - Yay!!! We definitely need to meet in Loveland this summer. Let's work on that. I'm so excited! There's another Catheite near you - Karin (berry99) lives in or near Boulder I believe. Maybe she wants to join us?

Debbie - I hear ya on the DOMS - I still have them from PUB on FRIDAY - and I felt them today during PH, but it felt good.

Jeanette - you ROCK!!!

Lora - I hope you feel better. Do you take anything for migraines? Imitrex works for me about 75 - 80% of the time. I don't have to take it often, but when I do I'm so thankful I have it.

Sabrina - Happy 13th anniversary! DH and I celebrated our 13th in February. :)

Dallas - way to go on the treadmill! I hope your ankle cooperates with you.

Marietta - I'm so sorry about your friend. That's heartbreaking. You had an awesome run yesterday. Good job!

Nicole - I'm sorry your sinuses are bothering you so much. Allergies must suck. I'm starting to wonder if I don't have a touch of them since I will go for a few weeks feeling like I might be catching a cold yet never do. Hmmm...

Happy belated Mother's Day to you all!!! I hope you had a great day!

Suz

Hi there!
Boy I'm late checking in today. AND I'm not even done working out yet.
I ran on the treadmill for about a half hour and was feeling GREAT, but a phone call that I had to take came...Grrrr. SO, I did Cardio from P90X. It was OK. Fun, but not very difficult. I then did 300 walking lunges with 5 pound dbs.
I'm now going to do GS Chest and Triceps.

Marietta, I think Lora gave you some great advice about your friend. It's really a shame. I feel bad for the daughter. How old is she? I know youre doing your best but if she wont help herself, what can you do? Awesome job on your run! When is your race?

Sabrina, Happy Anniversary! Are you going out to dinner tonight?

Jeanette, your bike ride sounds like so much fun. I’d love to be able to spend a day like that.

Debbie looks like you and I are doing a similar rotation. Are you adding any cardio?

Nicole, are you going to wear your hand weights during KPC? What did you do for Mothers Day?

Lora, I hope you feel better as the day goes on. Migraines are awful!

Dallas, Great job on the treadmill. I’m so glad your foot is feeling better. What w/o did you end up doing today?

I’m getting together with some girlfriends for a candle party tonight. It should be fun!

Susan C.M.

Good afternoon,
This morning I did Turbo Jam Fat blaster w/u & cardio, TJam Punch Kick&Jam, cardio, Kick Max intensity drills, I followed this with Chest, Shoulders, Triceps and Abs using mostly the Bowflex. Then Kick Max stretch.
Chest was Bowflex, Bench Press 4 sets 12 reps
Bowflex, Incline press 4 sets 12 reps
Bowflex Flys 4 sets 12 reps
Bowflex incline flys 2 sets 12 reps, 4 sets 12 reps push ups
Shoulders, Bowflex overhead press 10 reps 4 sets
Bowflex seated lateral raise 10 reps 4 sets
Bowflex seated front raise 12 reps 4 sets
Bowflex seated reverse flys 12 reps 4 sets
Triceps was Bowflex overhead French press 12 reps 4 sets
Bowflex triceps extensions10 reps 4 sets
Bowflex Bowflex triceps kick backs 10 reps each side 2 sets
Triceps dips with a 45# barbell 10 reps 2 sets
Abs, Bowflex kneeling crunches w/ lat tower 50 reps 2 sets
Bowflex seated resisted crunches 100 reps
Bowflex resisted trunk rotation 25 reps each side 2 sets
Medicine ball reverse crunch 25 reps 2 sets
Kind of long. I wasn't sure how to post my workout. I want to incorporate the Bowflex more for awhile.

Suz, I workout around 2 hours a day. Sometimes a little longer.Todays was 2.5 hrs.

Sabrina, congratualations on the race. Great pics.

Christine, your DD sounds sweet.

Nicole, I never used learn and burn on the Turbo Jam's. In fact the dvd with that on it had a 20 minute workout and I think a strength workout. I gave it to my dd Candy to use. I kept the one with Cardio Party 1 and ab Jam which I like. You are fine with The Maximum package. If you are familiar with Kickbox there should be no problem at all.

Hi to everyone
Diane Sue

Suz - I take Zomig for my migraines...but I've been getting so many and I can't take them every day. I only get 15 at a time and they are expensive. The doctor's told me I will continue to suffer from horrible migraines as long as I go without the sinus surgery. I don't want surgery!! I'm a very slow healer and I don't think it would be a good idea to do it now around here anyway because of the situation my job is in right now.

Where's Toasty today?

By the way, I think I need to find time to fit Pilates into my schedule now. I just read an article in a fitness magazine that says in order to have flat lower abs, you need both traditional ab work and Pilates (cuz it works the transverse abdominus). Where is a girl to find the time?

Susan - I hate being interrupted during a workout. I tell DH to tell people I'll call them back and when I'm home alone I don't answer. But since you had to take that call, you didn't have a choice. Bummer!

Lora - I tried Zomig for migraines and it made me feel really icky. My heart was racing and I just felt awful. It was a terrible feeling. Since Imitrex works most of the time, I'm happy with that. I wasn't diagnosed with migraines until I was about 37 or so, although I'd been getting them as long as I can remember - inherited from my Dad. So I'm just happy to have anything that works most of the time. And they go in cycles - sometimes I won't get one for a month or maybe even two (trying not to jinx myself here) and then other times I'll get one after another after another.

Diane Sue - wow - 2 hours a day? I think if I didn't work, I would love to do that. Of course it's easy for me to say that since I'm at work right now! :) Your workout today is amazing.

I have to go renew my driver's license and this guy at Sam's Club who did one of those quick eye tests on me to determine if I need glasses said he doesn't think I can pass the eye test! I don't wear glasses, but I know my eyes have been getting a little worse than the 20/20 I had for so long. I wear reading glasses now and I notice my distance vision is not as clear. He said it's about 20/50 in both eyes. I disagree. I think my right eye is better. He also said my distance is worse than close up. Gotta disagree again (although I did notice that in the test). Wish me luck! I hope I'm right and he's wrong. :)
