Hardcore Fitness Maniacs Check In for Monday 5-15

I agree, Diane Sue's workout was kick @ss today!

Susan C.M. - I'm doing one body part a week rotation now doing two body parts one day and cardio the next. I sometimes work one body part a day but then I have a hard time getting my cardio in. If I'm on that type of rotation I'll do weight training in the a.m. and cardio in the p.m.

Hi Maniacs!!!

Yesterday I took a rest day. Too much running around. Had a nice weekend. DH took me to Red Lobster on Saturday and then to a nice restaurant in town on Sunday. Bought me the correct size stepper so I can do my stepping workouts now right instead of on the cube size one. Also got the new Prince cd 3121. Not that great, should have gotten Puddle of Mud instead or something. Work was good. Getting the hang of things well. People have been bringing in puddings, cakes and all kinds of sin each and everyday so far that I have worked there. Think it is gross people just eat that, and nothing but that stuff for lunch and throughout the day. Makes me queasy just sitting beside someone eating all that...EW!!!!

Today I am going to do PLB and Boot Camp. Got to get going.

Charlotte~~

Afternoon Ladies!

And an afternoon it has been...when it rains it storms. :-( I've gotten nothing but bad news today. :-(

Marietta ~ I'm so sorry your friend won't listen to reason (you :)). I think Lora hit the nail on the head, unfortunately. I feel for you because my own brother got himself in a pickle due to his addiction. Don't even get me started. I'm going to go send you the e-mail you sent me. ;-)

Diane Sue ~ Holy smokes!! Does your dh workout with you now that he's home?

Lora ~ How are you feeling? I agree about that pilates info you found out. I liked how my abs were looking when I was doing CM 3x's a week and doing pilates as well. I need to go back to that plan! }(

Susan ~ Yep, got my upper body work done and some yoga. How about you?

Suz ~ Christmas!!!?!?! Are you shopping already?! Good luck on your driving test.

Terri ~ How long are you running your friend's business?

Charlotte ~ I don't know how people can eat like that everyday either. I think, most just don't know any better. Have fun with the workout.

I did PS - CSB and 15 minutes of yoga. I really need to order that yoga DVD from Amazon. I need some quick ones to reach for on days like today.

Have a great night everyone. We're going to celebrate my in-laws 40th anniversary tonight.

Dallas

ETA: Where's Christine? We know you're out there. ha ha I saw you posted on two other check-ins. lol!;-)

Hey Maniacs!

Thanks guys for your concern about my friend...you guys are right. I know that this is all about her and she has to "choose" to get on the right track. I guess I thought she was well on her way so this is quite a setback. I guess all I can do now is pray for her.

Sabrina - Thanks for your well-wishes...I'll need it! I finally looked at the pics...you look so cute. Is that an Under Armour shirt you are wearing under the t-shirt?

Lora - You are on the money....I've tried to keep it real with her and I don't sugar-coat anything. I guess she has made her choice for now...

Suz - Power Hour?? The thought of it sends chills down my sping...don't know why, it just does. I felt pretty good running yesterday...got just a little tight. Gotta do 10 next...fun!!

Susan - Sorry your workout was interrupted...I hate when that happens, but if you had to answer...guess you had no choice. Yep, Lora gave good advice...I knew she would since she can totally relate. Have fun at the candle party...

Diane Sue - I saw your dh's post...how sweet!! Awesome workout...but then that's normal for you.

Toasty - Hope you enjoyed your rest day...NOW GET BACK TO WORK!!!! Get used to the junk...that is so common anymore. That's okay...you'll surely rub off on someone. Have a great workout!!

Dallas - Sorry you are having one of those days...I totally understand. Hang in there...Have fun at the anniversary party tonight!!

Christine - Where are you...are you kicking us to the curb??!!

I did do the Elliptical and some light leg work at lunch...hit the spot.

Have a great evening everyone...

Wooo hooo!!! I passed the eye test! The guy told me to read the first line on the left - umm...there's a first line on the left? Oh oh - we're off to a bad start. He kept trying on others though. I pretty much winged it if I couldn't really see. I didn't want to say, "I can't see that" b/c I figured I'd fail. He had me read a lot more than the person ahead of me, but whatever it takes. He asked me if I wear contacts (I don't). I asked him if I barely passed and he said no, that I did fine. Whew!!! Then he was going to let me retake my photo if I wanted to, which I did, but I was too embarrassed due to the line of people waiting to play around with my hair for shot #2. :) It's better than my last one, so that's all I can ask for.

Diane Sue - I was just "showing you off" to a gal I work with. She is disgusted with her weight but can't seem to get motivated enough to do anything about it and keeps eating all that stuff Charlotte is talking about. We were talking about a co-worker of ours who has lost 15 pounds FAST (she gains it really fast too and doesn't stay down in weight for long b/c she does fad diets) and she said that's b/c this gal never had kids and it's easier for us. So I just HAD to show her your picture after 3 kids. :) She just said WOW and off she went. She's only 36 and I hope she will start working on it soon.

Charlotte - I hate having to go into our copy/fax room b/c so often there is cake or donuts or candy or something. I hate that smell.

Marietta - I'm SO addicted to Power Hour. I just love it. When I hear the music it just makes me so happy. You don't know why you don't like it?

Oh shoot - I didn't check in with y'all did I? I got to chatting on the Runner's check in, and neglected my other girls! Sorry!

Did P90X Chest Shoulders and Triceps - I'm in awe of Tony when he does those Plyo push ups (clap push ups where he also gets his feet off the ground - I just want to sit and watch him do those - but I did them on my knees). Did Core Max # 2, the went for a 4 mile interval run. I feel good, but a bit stiff - which is not a bad thing either. Runs are getting so much easier!

Lora - sorry the alarm didn't go off! I hate feeling frazzled on a Monday! Hope this just means that the rest of the week will be fabulous.

Jeanette - that ride sounds wonderful! 45 miles is a nice long ride and the 1500 feet gives a challenge. DH and I used to do an 26 mile ride and 21 miles into we stopped in Saratoga and had a salmon bagel (and usually a glass of wine :+) The last 5 miles were all down hill so it was fun. I do miss those days.

Debbie - I'm in awe of your pull ups! WOW!

Nicole - hope you're feeling better. Sinus infections are horrible.

Sabrina - CONGRATULATIONS!! Happy Anniversery!

Dallas - you'll be running that half with me soon! I love that you're running again. How exciting!! That PT must really be working well. And no - I haven't abandoned y'all! I wouldn't do that! I just posted, then forgot to check in here. *slaps self upside head* Won't happen again!

Terri - hope your friend gets back soon! That must be nuts! Rhythmic step is one of my favorites.

Marietta - where is your half? I'm training for one in July! Way to go on the 9 miles! That's awesome. Sorry about your friend. One of my friends is going through something similar with his daughter. She just had a baby and will lose him if she does not go through rehab. But she starts out so eager to change, then decided that rehab is not for her. I hope this works, but... Unfortunately, until your friend is ready to help herself, there's not much you can do. It's soo frustrating. {{{HUGS}}}

Suz - Christmas? Heck, I'm buying pool toys right now. If I go shopping now, I'll forget where I put everything, or end up giving it to the kids anyway... Way to go with PowerHour - did you enjoy?

Susan - I haven't even tried Cardio from P90X because I've heard it's not much. But, I may - just for something different. Sounds like a good workout, though!

Diane Sue - yeah, Mother's Day was very nice. I'm very lucky in both my biological daughter and my step daughter - and you'll rarely hear me differentiate between them - they're both mine. Your DH is just a joy. You're a lucky gal.

Charlotte - job going okay? The thought of cakes and sweets all days makes my stomach hurt. ICK! Oh, I love a slice of cake or something sweet once in a while, but...

Suz - I do like Powerhour...but I don't like DOING Powerhour...does that make sense? It's a love/hate kinda thing. Those darn squats never end!! Glad you passed your test....now you can relax about that. Diane Sue is surely worthy of showing off...I hope it motivates your co-worker.

Christine - You scared me for a minute...Yep, I saw you posting all over the place and not here...I was getting sad. I kept going back through and thinking I must be over-looking your post or something. My half is in Kansas City on June 3rd (Saturday). You are doing great on your runs...keep it up! You are right about my friend...like you all have said, it's up to her...I'm just going to be there if she lets me. Her dd is 8 years old...you should have seen her at church...she looked so sad, she at least wanted to see her mom on mother's day. She kept telling the girl that she was getting herself together so they could be together...what could I say? Just sad....

Anyway, I'm going to leave work shortly...have to get groceries and figure out what to eat for dinner. Hmmmmm.....

Marietta - I'm SORRY! Didn't mean to make you sad... :-(. Would hate to do that to the ladies who have done so much for me! You enablers have pushed me to be so much more than I was when I first started here! I cannot thank y'all enough!

As a step mom to a wonderful girl whose mother has issues (oddly enough, not drugs directly, but the mom's parents were major alcoholics...) I know just what a real mother, no matter what she does, means to a girl. It's just sad. I'm sorry, it's tough to stand back and watch. I often have fantasies (just fantasies - I'm not a violent person) of practicing some of the Kick Punch and Crunch moves on my DD17's mom.

Christine - I can see that you're feeling me....LOL!!

Marietta - I also really feel for the innocent children in these situations. Again, truly ....as I stated above, my heart goes out to your friend (and all of the using addicts that have not yet gotten clean). It does make life He@# for those that care. I know my Mom had a tough time letting me go to hit my bottom and when she started going to Naranon....she learned tough love and let me go on a downward spiral that lasted for quite a while and the only reason I got clean is because I was facing a prison sentence.....the bottom is usually not "pretty" for addicts...jails, institutions or death.

I hope y'all don't mind me being so frank and candid, but it looks as if many of you are a bit educated on the subject. Some people just don't understand about the disease and think we are just "bad people" and that is the farthest thing from the truth.

It was just me and my boss today and she was on a rampage. I've never been treated so badly. She was at me for 3 hours straight this afternoon. I almost had a nervous breakdown. Thank goodness Charles will be back from vacation tomorrow!

Charlottte- New Prince, huh? Sounds good. I like the funk. I've got Theory of a Deadman, the new Chili Peppers staring me in the face. I've got a few other one's I have to burn for my car....if I ever find the time, I'll burn you the above. We just got blanK CD's. I have all of the Puddle of Mud ones too (love them). Which one did you want? The first one? Welcome to the real world work! I can't stand seeing all of those sweets too...but my problem is temptation. I love cake and sweets!! I hate to have to be tempted all of the time. My job now is not as bad as other places...except how I have to watch my supervisors eat ribs and other meat constantly and meet grosses me out big time since I'm vegetarian. How are the morning workouts going? Feel free to shoot me an email here or at work. I miss you.

Anyone have any good DVD storage ideas? I'm being over run by workout DVDs in my house. I need to add on.....LOL.

Lora - I only "understand" the disease from the other end. I am thankful that you are courageous enough to share, and allow us the benefit of your experience. That is so invaluable. I only know the other side and it is frustrating to see what this does to a child. My ex is a recovering alcoholic, so I have some experience with that end (he started recovery when I realized that my DD13's - DD2 at that time -life was at stake and had better move the heck out of the house - he was starting to get violent). He and DD13 have a good relationship now, and I know I can trust him, but too much had happened for us to get back together again. And you're right Lora - rock bottom is not pretty. I'm really sorry you had to go through that. You are obviously a strong person emotionally as you came through with such a wonderful personality and desire to help others.

Now, my DD17's mom is not an addict. She does not use. But her parents did, and that has affected her. I am sorry she had to go through that, but I have friends who have gone through that as well, and have taken steps to make themselves mentally healthier. DD17's mom never has. I do blame her for what she has done to Maja. I just hope that the steady and constant love from her father, and any influence I may have had will help counteract any damage her mom has done. I think it will. At 17 she has her ups and downs, but she's a teenager - it goes with the territory. For the most part she's a wonderfully sweet and loving young lady. Any mom should be honored to call her daughter.

Marietta--Good eye!! lol!! Yes I am wearing and under armour shirt under my t-shirt. I went out the night before the race to find those black pants and the pink long sleeve top since it was going to be so cold for the race. The pants tie at the ankle and I was so happy to find them since a lot of pants are too long on me and I walk on them.

How are you doing this evening? If you need to talk feel free to email me any time.

Lora--I am sorry your boss was on your case most of the day. I hope you have a better day tomorrow. I have a lot of my DVD's stored in baskets. I have baskets all over my house with things hidden in them. lol They look nice and I store stuff in them so no one else sees it. Works for me. ;-)

Marietta - I totally understand the love/hate relationships with some workouts. And you're right, the squats never end - in fact a lot of the exercises seem to keep on going and going and going. But something about that music just motivates me. Weird, huh?

Christine - yup - I liked it, as you can tell. I probably do it once a week. Maybe I'll get sick of it. But for now I'm enjoying it. I need to add in Bootcamp, but since I work out before work, sometimes I'm not in the mood for Bootcamp (too lazy). Yet I'll ride my tush off on the bike in the mornings. Hmmm...

Lora - I commend you for how far you've come. I know there are lots of people who never face their addictions b/c it's so difficult. But you did and you came out on the other side!!! I work with a gal who is a recovering alcoholic and she says it's sooo much work. She's been sober for about a year and a half now. We all got to ride that roller coaster with her while she was drinking and then when she quit. But I'm happy for her that she has done it. And I'm happy for you too. :)

I just got on the computer now and finished reading your wonderful posts. I have to get to bed, so sad I can't answer. Will try to do better tomorrow.

My massage today was great. Will post tomorrow morning. Sigh.
