Hardcore Fitness Maniacs Check In for Mon 3-24

Cathlete
Morning Ladies -

This morning I did P90 Masters Sculpt 5-6. I ran and jumped in between weight exercises to make it more aerobic. I added on 10 minutes of gliding (wanted to do more, but couldn't get my butt out of bed early enough) and did Yoga Now - 10 Minute Energizer.

Yoga Now is the infomercial pack with Rodney Yee and Mariel Hemingway. I bought it mainly for the AM and PM 10 minute routines, but I'm not sure I like them enough to justify the purchase. I've only done the 30 minute regular yoga workout and it is the strangest yoga I've ever done. It's either going to grow on me, or I'm not going to like it at all. Anyway, it's advertised as yoga-cardio fusion, but it's really not cardio by any means. It's more like you do some arm swings and ballistic bouncing in between yoga segments. You also do some quick lunges that turn into plyo lunges. I'll wait to decide if I'm going to E-bay these after I do the 55 minute routine. I really like Rodney & Mariel, but I think the concept is a bit strange.

Boy - I feel bad for that Amy Bento that just came out with the DVD's. She's getting a lot posts on this Forum and on Videofitness. I'd hate to have to read that kind of stuff about myself. I can't wait to get these DVDs. When I get them, I'll do a mini rotation with them. Wooping doesn't bother me, at least I don't think. I never notice half the things other people seem to notice.

I've been wanting to buy Mindy Mylrea's Bike Challenge DVD that's coming out next week. It's $25 and I've been putting it off, but last night I ordered it. It's a DVD that you do on your indoor bike. It's supposed to have a special feature where you can change the ride scenery for different routes?? I have no clue how this is going to be, but I need something to make me cross train on my Bike and Ellipitcal.

Have great workouts everyone. I'll try to check in from work later (ugh Monday again).

Oh, the move Stay Alive was okay. It was like the Ring (sort of)....the movie where the video game starts killing the people (sort of). It was so/so.

Good Morning Maniacs!!

Lora,

I wanted to see that movie too. Ya know, The Hills Have Eyes was really good if you like horror.

Well I am putting my rotation together today for the next month or so. Yesterday ran for 30 mins (non stop) and included fast jog towards the end several times. 1 set of BBM's w/weights, Coremax 1 and plyometrics. Anyhoo, today I will ride my bike another 12-14 miles...taking a different route today, 3 blasts from Imax 2 and work chest/back.

Charlotte~~

Morning ladies!

Lora-Looks like you got in a good workout even though you overslept. What is the gliding you are doing? Sounds like fun! Trampoline like fun. Does Mindy have other workouts coming out too beside the Bike workout? Do you have a link to the site?

Charlotte-No horror movies for me. I scare myself reading the novels. lol Have a good bike ride.

This weekend was pretty busy. I did get about a 3 mile walk in yesterday with Dh and my youngest. Tried to do some walking lunges while I was hosting the open house on Sunday. LOL! I had three groups of people come in this time.

Not sure what this week will bring since the boys are on Spring Break. Should be interesting. It wouldn't be so bad if the weather was nice. It is cold and today it is suppose to rain. UGH!

Have a great day ladies! I will be back later.

Good Morning and Happy Monday!!

I haven't gone over the weekend threads...but I'll do that shortly. I had a nice weekend and I hope you all did as well.

I ran 8-miles yesterday and this morning I did High Step Challenge. Not to sure what I'll be doing at lunch today.

Lora - I feel bad for Amy also...I thought the workouts looked good. I can't wait to try them out. "Whooping" doesn't bother me either...in fact, I can't stand it when somebody's not doing something...it gets boring.

Toasty - You work it girl!! What more can I say?? Looks like you're adjusting to it quite well...

Sabrina - Have fun with you boys this week...hope you get a chance to get out some. Hopefully you'll get some nice weather at least a few days.

Hi to all that follow...I need to do some catching up. Talk to you all later!

Hi Marietta! You are getting in some great workouts. You always do. You go girl! I hope it does get nice at least a couple days this week too. The boys will go stir crazy if not (and so will I). lol

Lora-Have you received you Turbo Jam workouts yet?

Hello Everyone,
How are you all doing???:D

Had a busy weekend... The boys are starting baseball, and my friend had a surpise party..., and then last night we went to a hockey game.. I fell on my knee on concrete when I was coming off a step, but lucky my brain did not register when I was falling because I was very relaxed. Thank goodness!!:) Just a little scraped up..

Today I did SIM and S&H chest. Will ride my airdyne tonight.

Lora I read a little about the Amy thread and I agree!! I feel bad that everyone is dissing on her when they have not even did the dvds yet!! I think they look good!! Can't wait to hear your a Marietta's reviews on these.

Charlotte I am so proud of you!! Sticking with the BBM workout like you have!! You butt is going to ROCK!! ;-)

Sabrina I can't watch scary movies either!! They just scare me to much :7

Well gotta go!! Will try and be back later!!

~Nicole

Good morning all! I did EFM this morning. Need to do it again to appreciate it. I think I'll like it once I get the moves down. They do do me in though! I also did CTX Chest. I had forgotten how many chest presses there are! Love it though. Might do Spinervals at the gym or might take the afternoon off - not sure. These TLT's really do kick my butt the first time I do them!

Sabrina and Nicole - I'm sooo with you! I don't do scary movies. Whatever is in the movie ends up in my bedroom at 3:00 AM. Even with bit strong DH there to "save" me, I can't do it.

Lora - my DD saw Stay Alive the same night you did and said that it was weird. She liked the Ring, so...

Charlotte - you have the most varied workouts. I really enjoy reading about them. They give me ideas. I like that.

Marietta - I think the videos look interesting, too and if they are as different as they appear, I'd love to buy them. I'm not a big whooping fan though. But, if they're good, I can live with it. At least keep me distracted!

Nicole,

Rock is good! My legs and butt do feel firmer, but I still ain't seeing it in the mirror. Takes time, I know. I will get it there. I am sticking to eating healthy as usual and I just finished my rotation so I expect to see some significant changes in about 2 months.

I am so glad you didn't hurt your knee any worse. I love hockey. Baseball can be fun too...never any good at it myself, but like to watch.

Marietta,

Do you bother using a hrm with all the running you do? I still need to get one. Glad you had a nice weekend. I sent you my rotation.

Sabrina,

You are so creative...walking lunges while waiting on people. When I am at a traffic light, I am also doing something like tidying up the car, etc.

Terri,

Hope everything is going better for you!

Dallas,

Where are you?

Hi to Diane Sue and anyone else I missed!

Charlotte~~

Hi Ladies,

I have the monday morning blues! Today is PUB and a run. I would also like to get in a SS workout. Susuan you are good dwith rotations so can you help me come up with one that has cardio everyday, freestyle for legs and heavier upperbody work? :)

Christine-Did you order amy's workouts too?
Lora-I am leaning toward getting them. One at a time until I see how I like them
Nicole-Sounds like you had a fun weekend!
Charlotte-I wish I had a bike to ride. I bet I would enjoy that.
Marietta-When do your Amy workouts arrive?
Sabrina-How long did it take you all to walk the three miles?
Dallas-Ready for your trip?
Dians Sue-I know DH leaves today so HUGS to you!
Susan-How was your weekend?

Hope I got everyone:)

Terri

Happy Monday,

I used my treadmill this morning before breakfast. I’m going to a Cathe w/o in after getting my son on the bus. I’m itching to do Viper, then I’ll do a CoreMax too.

I’ve got to put a rotation together. I feel sore or really fatigued sometimes and cant really stick with what I want to do. Help!!

I viewed some of Amy’s clips. Boy, I did think they resembled Cathe quite a bit. At least I didn’t see much of a difference to want to purchase them. BUT, I will look forward to your reviews Lora and Marietta.

Nicole, I’m glad you didn’t get hurt on your fall.

Christine, I feel the same way about EFM. It seems I’m not doing all the moves correctly, or something, the workout just doesn’t “do it” for me just yet. I do like SIM.

Charlotte, post your rotation when you get it put together. Id like to see what you plan.

Marietta, EIGHT miles! How long does that take? The weather is beautiful here, so I’m hoping to get outside more ~ with da baaaabeeee… awwww. He’s so darn cute! He’s now smiles a lot. If I could only get him to smile for the camera!

Sabrina, good for you doing walking lunges while at the Open House.

Lora, You’re getting in good workouts. Thanks for the movie review.

Hi Terri, Diane Sue, and Dallas.

I’ll be back later…
Susan

Afternoon ladies!

Nicole-I am glad you are ok and that you only ended up with a scrape. You did have a very busy weekend.

Christine-I hate things showing up in my bedroom too after a scarey movie. I have a hard enough time keeping the ones out from reading novels. lol

Charlotte-I had to find something to do. lol DH came with and I had the boys outside picking up sticks in the front yard.

Terri-It took us 45 minutes to walk the 3 miles. I hope you can get out of the Monday blues. I kind of have them too. It is raining here. ICK!

Susan-It is nice to see you. Don't forget to post a picture if you get that little guy to smile for the camera. We want to see!!

I think I need to view these clips and see what you ladies are talking about. What other dvd's are you ladies buying??

Terri - I haven't ordered Amy's workouts yet. I'm waiting for a few of the guinea pigs to get them and try them. I'm also looking to buy the P90X. So many videos, so little time...

Susan - how often have you done EFM? What's weird with me and these workouts is that I get sore immediately, but the next day I feel great with no soreness at all.

Sabrina - yeah, I get that with books, too. I read "It" and could not go into the bathroom at night to save my life. Did you ever read "Phantoms" by Dean Koontz? That scared the heck out of me! Wolfen by Wesley Streiber did too, but that was when I was in college. I can't find it anywhere to see if it still does.

I put together an April rotation, but I'm not sure it makes sense. It's a week of circuit (3 a week) with hard core cardio. Followed by a week of TLT's (3 a week) with heavy weights, with Cardio in the afternoons. Should I stick to one thing?

Hi Ladies - my boss just went to a 2:00 pm meeting....she's been on a rampage with me all day. It's just her and I here today...ugh!

Sabrina - No TJ's as of yet, but I don't know if they came today. I can't call home to check, as my DH may be buying us a new car that we looked at yesterday. I might get a Nissan Sentra Sports Edition, 2006.

Hi to everyone ......I didn't really have time to read this whole thread, so I'll check back later. I can't wait for my Amy Bento DVDs to arrive so I can be the guinea pig and try something different. I hope I can follow the step workout....and that it's not as complex as Pam Cosmi's.

Gliding - This is put out by Mindy Mylrea. There is a website on it....I don't know the URL. It's basically aerobics using discs to slide on (like Tracie Long slides with the Paperplates). BBBB reminds me of Gliding.....a bit...but with Gliding, I go faster and more aerobic. I usually double time their single time moves....as that's the way I prefer it. It still makes me want to break out my old Slide Board!! I'm really on a cross training kick, aren't I? I think I'm going to try some Pilates or Lotte Berk Method next....once my body adapts to yoga (if it ever does).

Lora - Here I thought you were talking about a gliding board which I used to have and about killed myself on! So I've been reading these thinking, "Oh, how cute." Then I pulled up the videos - and they look like fun! Are they advanced?

Hi Ladies!!

Just got back from my bike ride. Think I did 13 miles today. Went a different route which was mostly all hills on the way back...oh, my! Refreshing though going a different way. Love living in the country!Trying to determine if I would make it up this one hill and this dog comes out barking and chasing me. Needless, to say I made it up the hill! LOL! Glad that puppy came out to push me and didn't bite me. LOL! I did my chest/back work already and now onto some Imax 2 blast. I will be pumping up the volume and ready to jump and rock! LOL!

Here's a review from VF fron the Amy Bento Step

Hi,
I did the Advanced Step this morning. Please bear with me as I'm not good at writing reviews. Please don't ask me how her cueing is or the music because I'm hard for hearing so I wouldn't really know. I can only give a review for the workout. Here it is:

Her warm up is different. It's about 4 minutes long but it gets your heart rate up quickly. She has side steps, step over the bench, stretching...

She starts her workout with side steps then side steps on then off the bench. What I don't get at all is her straddles. They were the hardest part of her whole workout. She does straddles all over the step spinlike. I couldn't do that for the life of me so I just did side straddles like Cathe did. Her combos are quite short which is fine with me because my heart rate was very much up there which doesn't happen too often. She has drop squat with a jog then lunges with a jack and one leg jump. Another move I found interesting was she hopped onto the step backwards which was fun. My mind is very blank right now about the rest of the work out.... She has something extra called Powerup which is about 7 minutes long interval blasts. She was very creative with this. The first interval, she did kickboxing moves on the step with a karate kid style kick on the floor. She did it 7x per leg. The second interval was jumping over the step sideways doing lunge then jump on the step sideways and jump off the step. That was fun. Third and final interval was sort of a lunge with martial arts arm movement with 4 cheerleading jumps at the end. She had 6 sets of that. Four Lungelike move with martial arts arm movements with 4 cheerleading jumps at the end.

I definitely give this workout thumbs up. However if you have two left feet, I really, really do not recommend this workout but she does have a preview of the workout where she teaches you the moves before you start the workout. My heart rate was UP the whole time and I'm pretty exhausted now.

I'm sorry if my review was awful. I will look at the workout again and add more.

Hi All!

I just got back from running more errands. I think I'm finally ready to leave! I did get a good workout in this AM. I did the treadmill for an hour again and then MM - upper body premix. Oh boy, I always forget how tough that one is! }( I may not be lifting any suitcases Wed. lol;-)

Susan ~ How's your hand? I meant to ask when I posted yesterday.

Nicole ~ Are you OK?

Sorry, I didn't read through the whole thread. I have to go finish packing. I downloaded some Eoin Finn to my iPod. Thanks Lora for the idea! Maybe I'll get some yoga in before the kids wake up in the hotel. I'm bringing my bands too.

Hi everyone! I'm not ignoring anyone....I just have so much to do. We leave 7A Wed.

Dallas

Dallas - you focus on your trip - absolutely understandable!

Lora - sounds really good! I like a challenge. If I can get the choregraphy the first time *yawn*

I'm kind of laughing because everyone is asking why she's marketing the way she is - I say it's brilliant! The advanced exercisers (aka the Cathe crowd) know who she is... What more could she ask?! And she did not spend a penny in advertising! If her workouts are as good as her advertising, I'm in... Have to wait 'til pay day, but I'm in!

Hello Ladies...

Well it's been a long day...I didn't want to be at work today and I felt like that ALL day!! Hope tomorrow is better.

I did the elliptical at lunch today and also did combination of shoulder and leg exercises.

Nicole - Wow...you did have a busy weekend! Sorry about the fall, but glad it wasn't worse than it was. Girl...I'm so anxious for the new workouts that I don't know what to do.

Christine - CTX gets me everytime too...it's a nice chest workout. I understand that some people don't like the whooping....everybody likes different things as we all know very well. Your rotation sounds good...I think it's perfectly okay to switch things up a bit...go for it!!

Toasty - I do not use a HRM...I go by my percieved exertion level. When I wear a HRM I get so tensed about having it on that I have horrible workouts. Don't know what my deal is. I sent you an email about your rotation...The dog story is FUNNY!!!! Got your butt moving didn't he??!!

Terri - As you can tell...I have the Monday blues right along with you. I think mine are probably for different reasons...but blues all the same. I expect my new workouts this week...but I don't know when. I didn't see an option for express delivery...so I think they will be coming via ground delivery.

Susan - You reminded me that I've been wanting to do Viper...I'll get to it later this week. It took me a little over an hour to run those eight miles. I just vary the speeds throughout the workout to make it interesting. I know the baby is just adorable...you'll be able to get out with him real soon.

Sabrina - Check out those clips already...tell us what YOU think!!

Lora - Thanks for the information on the Amy workouts...do you know when yours are scheduled to arrive?

Dallas - We understand...we know you are busy!! Say bye to us before you leave...ok?

Hi Diane Sue!!

A long night in store for me...have to take my dd10 to her tumbling class tonight. I don't mind, but tonight I'm really not in the mood. Oh well...

Have a great evening all...I apologize in advance for any typos.

Marietta - I have no idea when I'll get them. I placed the order the day you ladies posted about them. Did you order them also? Is that what you're waiting for?

Dallas - where are you going on vacation? will you be able to walk on your foot?
