Good morning everyone!!

I'm glad to have some time this morning to "chat" with everyone. :p

Debbie - I am actually crazy about not missing my workouts. I have a portable DVD player and have been known to be doing workouts in hotels and motels across the country!!:) I have almost everything I need equip. wise in both camps and at home, so now I can concentrate on getting more, and more, and more DVD's!! I can't wait to see the new rotation, and thanks again for this one (I think -). I have been slowly dropping the lbs and watching my calories for the most part.... I'm so sorry your neck is bothering you again. I have some trouble from time to time with the right side of my neck, and actually have to omit barbell lifting sometimes for a few weeks - it sucks!! I hope you have a great day!

Theresa - Great workout yesterday!! I just started reading about Tabata, but have not tried any of the workouts yet- just not enough hours in the day!!

Lora - I hope you are feeling better today. It sucks being depressed and, of course, everyone has a milliion suggestions to get yourself "out of it", but that doesn't seem to help much..... I'm sending you lots of good wishes.:)

Lori- I LOVE the Shock Cardio Circuit Blast!! I found it to be very difficult (even the first time). Thanks for the link on EDT - looks great, but again, I just don't know where/when I will fit it in. :) I hope your energy level is better today. Have a great day!!

Linda - Don't ya just love when your legs are "killing" you!! I felt that way last week (or was it the week before?). I hope everything goes well with the shoulder. I think you said you were going to the docs next week? I agree BM2 is so much fun - I actually did the cardio mix twice over the past week!

Roselyn - I agree on both of your points 1. This rotation is great!! and 2. ME is CRAZY hard!! LOL. Have a great day!

Diane Sue- I hope you are feeling better today! Maybe just a stomach bug? I know it has been going around, but it's really no fun when you don't feel well. I think you need a good spa day (or two) with some serious R&R - you do so much!! Have a great day and feel better.

I'm sorry if I missed anyone.......I was too busy to post yesterday:(. Have a great day!

Cheryl :)

Oh Duh....I almost forgot - Today was STS Disc 9 (legs) - Killer!! I know I will feel this tomorrow. I also walked/ran with the pups this morning about 2-3 miles. I don't really consider this exercise, however, but more like my "cool down" and "me time". I may do some Yoga this evening if I feel motivated!

Cheryl-nice workout this morning. Those must be some happy puppies :) Mine are a real pain if they don't get walked.

Yesterday I did Amy Bento's ASC3 combo1-3. total time w/ warm up and stretch was 50 min and I burned 690 calories. I'm very suprised by that calorie burn b/c I was on the lowest step setting due to the violent DOMS from Monday.

I CAN BARELY WALK TODAY
I have not been this sore from a workout in quite some time. Today was supposed to be a circuit, but I think I will do one more day of VERY light cardio to get the soreness out.

Today was cardio again. I think I finally realized that the reason I was hating cardio so much was because I was in pain for those last few months. Now that I'm feeling good I'm liking it again. Notice I said like and not love! :D I don't think I will ever love cardio.

Today was Imax 2 and I had a great workout. Gave it my all and found my endurance is slowly coming back. The highest my HR got was 165 bpm and I haven't seen that in months. Felt great to breath heavy and sweat like crazy. I really like this workout.

HR STATS:
56 minutes total
2 minutes below zone
13 minutes in zone
41 minutes above zone
463 calories burned

Okay spending the first half of every week not being able to walk has got to stop. For the past four weeks I have done a different leg workout on Monday and have had major DOMS that makes me walk like a little old lady. OUCH!

Today I did STS Disc 25 from Meso 3 Chest & Back. I kept the weights light using only a 55# barbell & a set of 25's & one 30 dumbbells. And since I wasn't going all out on the weight I skipped all the rests between the sets and a constant superset. I felt pleasantly worn out at the end. Although I have to admit it sucks not to be able to pick up some crazy weights and push like a mad woman.

Debbie
- Glad you are feeling a little better about cardio these days. Nice job on Imax2, haven't done that one in awhile.

Theresa
- I hear ya on the violent DOMS. Right there with ya!

Cheryl
- Wow a 2-3 mile walk/run after STS Legs, you go girl.

I wanted to do abs with the tabata workout today but didn't have time. Had to shower and run the girls to school and get back here. The workers left and told me to run water for 5 hours:O I have things to go do and can't leave it running steady like that. My neighbor did that and flooded his house because a drain closed. My son in law called and I have to pick the girls up from school so I guess this is going to be another running day.
I started with Walking Stronger Mix 31 min wearing my 2# weighted gloves and burned 205 calories, max hr was 150, then I did Muscle & Fitness Tabata workout 3, shoulders and traps 34 min and I burned 152 calories max hr was 135(this was probably from doing jacks on part of the breaks), I finished off with Amy's 10 Min solution Bootcamp cardio drills using 10 and 12 lb dumbbells and burned 69 calories, max hr 148.
Total time spent was 75 min and calories burned was 426.
I was sick to the stomach last night and still a little puny today so I think that was enough workout.
Tabata workout was 20 sec work/10 sec rest 8 sets each exercise with 2 min rest in between exercises
Bowflex for all but one exercises
overhead press 2 sets 50lb resistance each hand 6 sets 40lb
upright row 40lb each hand
lateral raise standing 35lb each hand
reverse fly 45lb each hand
shrugs 45lb each hand
instead of the dumbbell shrugs at the end I did 15lb overhead dumbbells press

Good Morning -

You guys are really on top of things this morning. I'm ... not. Unsure about what to do today. I'm waiting to see how I feel after I've been up and working for awhile. I may yet try the EDT. It's short and then maybe I can get in some cardio this evening. Also considering KP & C. The very last premix is 80+ minutes and integrates Legs and Glutes standing work with the combo's. I kind of like that one. Or, maybe I'll scale back and just do some yoga. I just don't know - feeling rather ... wimpy  - Hope that passes.

Theresa - Leg DOMS are a good thing, but they really can HURT, huh? You and Linda both, it sounds like. Btw, your suggestion to listen to my body - I forget that, sometimes and it should be the bottom line. Right now it wants to know why we are in any kind of upright position at all, and also, where's the pillow  ?!! I think it does have something to do with my cycle. How could I forget about that? It's been ttotm for quite awhile now. That could be taking its toll. Hopefully will get better as the day goes on.

Linda - That looked like a great approach to Chest and Back. Bet you were feeling pretty "warm" and may end up with at least some matching DOMS for your legs. Then you'll have a complete set :p ! Hopefully you'll be back to "crazy weights" soon. I did see your post last night. So, I'm not alone in noticing how symptoms disappear when you make an appointment (especially right when you arrive at the appointment). Maybe they hide ;) .

Debbie - VERY glad you're liking cardio again and feeling better. Makes sense those two things go hand in hand. Sometimes I think sweating and breathing hard - in a really good workout (realized I needed to specify that  ) - is one of the best feelings there is. Hope I can remember that later today :D .

Cheryl - I'd do the same thing. Make sure I had a way to work out at every port. I'm not sure I'd be able to keep track of where I was supposed to be and when though. Really. That's quite some schedule there! Great workout today.

Diane Sue - Hope you're feeling better and whatever hit last night didn't stick around :D.

Lora - Been thinking about you and hope you're doing ok (at least) today.

Hi to everyone else.

Lori

Cheryl, I wish I felt motivated to do yoga in the eening. My motivation is usually pretty much gone by then :p Although I was thinking how much I hate having something like those abs written down in my planner and skipping out on them.

Debbie, I am glad that you are feeling so much better and kind of like the cardio;) Nice calorie burn.

Linda, it is probably switching up those leg workouts every week that is giving you the doms. No time to adjust to the workouts:) That is probably a good thing, right?:D

Theresa, that doms is really sticking with you. What a great calorie burn from ASC 3.

Cheryl - Nice job with STS Disc 9. I'm doing that one tomorrow and already looking forward to it. That's cool how you have workout equipment in all of your "away" homes. At least you can keep active while you travel about. :D

Theresa - Wow on the DOMS. You know, I was like that too before I took almost a month off from my workouts. I was so sore all the time and my lower body just hurt like crazy. I took an intentional 2 weeks off and that helped somewhat and then with my sinus infection and that neck/shoulder thing, I ended up taking two more weeks off. That seem to have done the trick. I have DOMS but nothing like I had before. Maybe your muscles are just overworked right now?

Linda - Nice workout. I'm finding using lighter weights kind of nice. Even though I'm getting that burn, I am keeping my form perfect and I sure can feel it. I'm not missing heavy weight training yet. Glad to hear you've been sore too! DOMS rules!

Diane Sue - Nice going with your workout even tough you didn't have much time. How come you have to run water for 5 hours? We've had our septic cleaned out and never heard of doing that? What's that got to do with your water system? And I think you should ask those guys if they are going to pay your water bill? That's nuts.

Lori - Yikes on the 80 minute workout! You go girl! Hope you find the energy to do it!!

Diane Sue-sorry you were feeling puny, hope it gets better :) Nice workout for feeling like you do.

Lori-ttotm can really zap the energy at certain times. I was told by a former trainer, to do only cardio on ttotm weeks, and every few months take the week off. You are not going to really get any strength gains and flexibility is supposedly a bit less. I'm sure you will get something in :)

Linda-YAY for doms for you. It is a good/bad feeling. Weird thing is I have been dropping EVEYRTHING and I can hardly bend down to get it :p

Debbie-that tabata workout on Monday was a doozie, and I stretched like heck yesterday after the cardio (which I wasn't even going full hog on). Last week, I was pretty short on workouts and I had not been hitting it THAT hard in some time, I think I just need to dial it back just a bit. It's my hamstrings that have mega doms (well....and my back and triceps too) which I rarely have doms there. I've been keeping w/ the glutamine and ZMA to help w/ any mineral deficiency stuff. That might be another reason for the MEGA doms. :)

Debbie, we have an aerobic septic system. It is different than a regular one. Sort of wish we had the other kind. Anyway it has 3 tanks. Two of them store the drain water and it is treated . They let off treated water at night in the back of our yard through a sprinkler system. The third tank is the sewer end of it. We have some motorized box that runs constantly on the side of the house that pumps air out to the aerobic tanks. The whole thing makes me nuts. That is the reason I was hauling 40# bags of topsoil out to the yard to build up around the risers I had added because when it rains hard the yard held water due to the placement of the shed(previous owners had installed) and the tanks would fill. We couldn't flush toilets or run water down the drains and the sprinklers went off constantly to try to get rid of it.
I am guessing yours is a regular septic tank??

Edited to add that I am washing clothes, cleaning the fish tank which requires water running to pump the water out of our 150 gallon aquarium and any other task that requires extra water. Think the dog needs a shower too:)

WOW! That is insane. Yes, we have a normal septic tank but in the process of having to tap into the city water line. That is a nightmare and is going to cost us an arm and a leg. Good job on finding ways to use up the water instead of just running it for nothing.

Today was Imax2 and I am looking forward to Disc 9 tomorrow. I am getting a bit stressed around here, my daughter's senior prom is fri., so you can imagine. So Debbie, the rotation is helping my stress levels for sure.

It's late. But I wanted to share that I went ahead and tried the (infamous) EDT today. Theresa, if I’d seen your post about avoiding weight work, I might have thought better of this. As it turns out, I wasn’t too thrilled with it as a strength training method. It was ok, but I was too conservative with my weight choices for sure. I kept expecting the volume to add up and hit me, but it never really did. I moved steadily through the three exercises I chose (squats, push-ups and horizontal pull-ups) but should have been more aggressive in rep range too. So, I tried it a second time this evening. Dumbbell squats again, squat press and vertical pull ups with a neutral grip. It was better, but still nothing I’d be interesting in committing to solely for a couple weeks. If I’d really liked it, I might have done that. I’ll probably revisit it (it would make a pretty good add on). Next time, I might choose just two exercises (squats and pull-ups, for example) and be a good deal more ambitious in weight and rep choice. I saw a couple clips that showed some teen-age boys training with this method and they looked close to tears. It was near the end of their workout and they were alternating between 2 exercises, barely able to eek out but a few reps on either one. So, I probably shouldn’t have been able to make my target reps by the end, especially on my first workout. That I was able to (except the last two rounds of pull ups), tells me I misjudged. Even so, it was a pretty enjoyable workout. It went fast. I went slower on the eccentric and powered through the concentric movement with a brief hold at the top of pull-ups or the bottom part of the squat where the muscle felt really loaded. So it felt good and my muscles were getting warm but I was nowhere near tapped out. I was breathing fairly hard , but didn’t have to stop and catch my breath.

I only took the time to go into this much detail because this was new and in case anyone else is curious and wants to give it a go sometime, maybe my mistakes will be helpful. Really (as I did it), I’d count it as two brief (20 minute) sessions (not including warm-up) of moderate non-impact cardio. Having tried it out though, I don’t think it’s that, that much different than some other formats I’ve seen.

Anyway, that was my gig today. Have a good evening,

Lori :D
