GM Everyone,

I'm in to work early so I decided to post before the day gets away from me. I have another chaotic afternoon today and then a super busy morning tomorrow.

Today was Drill Max for my circuit workout. I did a little better this morning and really gave 100%, but I still called it quits after about 55 min. I also wear 2.5 lb hand weights with this workout and REALLY push the intervals. Most of the time I really like this work out and do not tend to "cut it short". I didn't eat well last night and have been "catching up" on sleep this week, so maybe that's why I feel so drained. Anyway, I hope to get in some great exercise again this weekend, as the weather looks promising. I LOVE to get in lots of swimming, which is a great low impact mega calorie burner for me. My DH says I should swim next to the boat and pull him along the shoreline (like a trolling motor) - very funny. :)

Diane Sue - What happened to the Fifth wheel? I know you said it was damaged, but did you trade it in or sell it? That's really a bummer.... I hope you are able to catch that baby bunny, although it's easier said than done. Good luck with the gauntlet today. ;)

Lori - I would love to trade my dogs for a Beagle!! :D It is good they need so much exercise, however, because it really forces me to get in that second "workout" of the day. I know EXACTLY what you mean about the long hair - drying - sweating, etc. That's why I started getting up "stupid early" (to quote my DH) to get in my workouts. For years I would exercise after work in the evenings, but so many times things would come up or friends would want to get together and would be a sweaty mess! I don't like to blow dry my hair either, so I would end up going out with a wet head...not good in the winter. :D Now I get up at 2:30 or 3 am almost every day - do my scheduled workout and then take the dogs for a walk/run. I also try to get in a walk with them in the evening- weather permitting. Nice mix of exercises yesterday!!

Debbie - I hope the knee and mom are better. I really have to thank you again for the rotation(s), which I am still doing, albeit a bit lethargically (don't know if that is a word?) this week.

Theresa - Nice workouts over the past few days!

Hi to everyone else. I will try to check back later.

Cheryl

So, Yesterday I had the most unusual itch to run on the treadmill <gasp>. I did a 40 min interval run and then ab section 1 from Amy's abs and stretch. The interval went as follows:

5 min warm up
30 sec sprint/30sec recovery x6
2 min incline walk
...30sec sprint/30 sec recovery x6
2 min incline walk
20sec sprint/40 sec recovery x6
2 min incline walk
20sec sprint/40 sec recovery x4
2 min incline walk
5 min cool down.
then a few minutes rolling on the floor, head between my knees, and gasping for air :D

Cheryl-I think Drill Max is a bear so I won't judge if you cut out a little early :p DH and I are supposed to lift weights today.....

Today was STS Meso 1, Week 3, Disc 9, Legs. Had a great workout and my ankle didn't give me any trouble except for calf raises. I had to do those without weights. Other then that, I was good to do.

Oh, and I keep meaning to mention, why do the two men use ridiculously low weights for this series? Seriously... Talk about wimps.

Squat Lunge Sequence 8/4
One Leg Sit 'n Stands - 12#/15 reps each leg
Lateral Step Ups - 15#/15 reps each leg
Wide Stance Deadlifts - 20's/15 reps
Side Lunge onto 6" High Step - 15#/15 reps
45 Degree Lunge - 20's/15 reps each leg
***I don't know why she calls these 45 degree lunges. It looks like they are doing front lunges to me.
Narrow Stance Front Squats - 25's/15 reps
Static Low End Lunge =15's/12 reps each leg
***These buned. These kind of remind me of the low motion lunges in Gym Style.
Plie Squats - 30#/24 reps
Wide Stance Deadlifts - 25's/15 reps
One Leg Slide Back Lunge - 10's/16 reps each leg
***These are hard. You slide back and do a lunge then put the weight on the floor and come back up, then you go down and pick the weight back up. It's hard and I'm pretty sure my form is horrible.
Side Slide Lunge -15#/16 reps each leg
***Same thing, go down and put the weight down and come up, then go back down and pick the weight up. This one isn't as hard as the previous exercise.
Front Lunge - 15's/15 reps each leg
Squats - 30's/16 reps
Calf Raises - BW/40 reps
Leg Press - 20#/15 reps each leg
Stiff Leg Deadlift on Platform - 15's/15 reps
Wall Squats Double Leg - 5's/8 long reps
Elevated One Leg Deadlift - 25#/12 reps

Didn't do the bonus floor work. I hate floor work.

Good Morning -

Gin Miller's Simply Endurance later. I think Hermia did this one a few days ago. I haven't done this workout in quite awhile. Don't know what else is up for today yet. I did get in about 1/2 hour for 2nd workout last night - a hodge podge of stuff, including kb practice (my cleans are improving, I think).

Diane Sue - I think I called your 5th wheel a trailer  - Couldn't tell you why ... Not really the proper term, but if that is the word I used, I meant "5th wheel."

Cheryl - Drill Max is a good one, though I'm only really familiar with the cardio. Getting 55 minutes of that one in so early - well done :D. Sounds like you went after it - and good for you for cutting it a bit short if you feel drained. Trolling motors need their rest ;) . About hair - I've gotten mine cut VERY short a couple times (for convenience). Once in my twenties, before I got married. On my honeymoon, a waitress came up behind us and asked "What can I get you guys?" Then said to me, "Oh. Sorry. From the back I thought you were a little boy ... ." I grew it out after that. The second time (I just do not learn) DS was very little - about 4 or 5. Before the girl who cut it would let me look in the mirror, she made me promise not to cry (not a good sign). DS was about 5. He liked it. He said I looked like his toy hedge hog ... I grew it out again. I try to keep these memories at the forefront of my mind when the idea to get a short cut for convenience still yet (unbelievably) strikes me as a good one. I don't blow dry either, so most of the time my hair is slightly damp. But at least I do not look like a little boy hedge hog. Or if I do, no one feels obliged to tell me this. I will count my blessings. Hope your energy picks up and you have a good one.

Debbie - You did legs and your ankle felt ok (except calf raises) - WOO HOO :D . That's great! I've wondered about the guys too. All I could come up with is that they're entirely unused to endurance type training and just get smoked way easily. Maybe even just their bodyweight for higher reps feels tough to them. Maybe there were extra takes during filming and it just wore them out? The women, on the other hand are more used to Cathe's style and in some of her other workouts the reps go way higher even than those in Meso 1, so no biggy. Or maybe women's pain tolerance is generally better for this type of lifting? In the later cycles (if I recall) their weights (the guy's) seem more, well, like "weights." Not sure if any of thses explanation's really hold water. I've pondered it though and tried to come up with suitable answers other than - women just rock it. What can we do :p ? In any case - good workout - glad you were able to do it pain free!!!

Theresa - Great workout. I use that exact same "cool down" sometimes :p Have fun with DH today :D

Good morning to everyone else.

Debbie-glad to hear the ankle held up, and I had not noticed the guys and weights before. I will have to check it out.

Lori-Yay on improved cleans :) I just ordered the new Keith Weber kb cardio workout, I am little scared :p Have fun w/ Gin (miller that is :D) I haven't done one of her workouts in years....

Theresa - The next time you have that "urge" to run on the treadmill I would recommend "rolling around on the floor with your head between your knees gasping for air" first. :p LOL I haven't used my treadmill since we moved and DH put it in the basement - hence my justification for buying....ummm...about 12 more Cathe DVD's. :D

Lori - LOL ....love the haircut stories. I have the same issue, except I have naturally curly hair, so the shorter I go - the curlier - like Orphan Annie with a bad afro.....not pretty. ;)

Debbie - That's AWESOME that the ankle is better. :D I have to second Lori on the "girls rock" comment. The guys in the Cathe videos always make me giggle - they look like they are being tortured!! :D

Gotta run.....have happy workouts!

Cheryl

My workout is finished. I switched it up and started with the weights first. I did Super Sets Lower Blast(the dvd player skipped the 3rd sets and when I went to skip back to find it it froze. I had to unplug it and do the 3rd set
icon_mad.gif
) 33 minutes 168 calories. Then I did The Gauntlet 70 minutes and burned 516 calories Max HR 164 and followed with Amy's Rumble Stretch 14 minutes 60 calories. I used heavier weights that Cathe in almost all of the weight segments of Super Sets and the Gauntlet. I need to get going so I can stop at Office Depot before I pick up the girls.

Cheryl, the fifthwheel was damaged by hail. Took out the sky lights and messed up the roof and air unit. Rain ran all down inside and inside the walls. The insurance company totaled it out and paid us for it. That is why they came and got it. As for the bunny. I tried to catch it and it ran off. Yesterday morning my granddaughter saw it on the patio and thought it was sleeping. My dog drug it up and left it as a present. I can't tell you how many squirrels and birds she has bought me:eek: I was sad for the little bunny.

Debbie, I never could figure out why those guys were using such tiny weights. I love floor work:D

Lori, I sometimes call the fifth wheel a trailer just because I am not sure if everyone know what I am talking about. It was nice. Had the popout so I had some room to workout and slept 6.

Theresa - I had to go check. Am I confused or is Extreme Kettlebell Challenge his older one - and he just put out another one? If so, I read about it via Dragondoor ( I think). Do you have any of his workouts? I'd like to hear what you think about them if you do.

Diane Sue - Sorry about the bunny. Poor little guy. Amazing workout today. Yeow :D . Also checked out the site you mentioned last night. Those look tough. Just what you need - something challenging for a change ;) . Are you going to get a new 5th wheel, do you think?

Lori

Diane Sue-nice workout, I still can't believe you do stuff before or after the Terminator workouts :D Did you get flooded where you were? That rain Monday was CRAZY

Lori-He has two extreme cardio kettlebell and then Extreme cardio kb 2. I ordered the second one b/c I saw good reviews over at VF. I will let you know what I think, I have not ordered from Dragon Door before. However, I hear his workouts are INTENSE. And LOL, I'm glad you got my "gin" humor :D

TOday was Insanity Max Circuit. Then spent day poolside with my daughter and sister. High of 90 and low humidity, tomorrow will be another story. The weather in St. Louis can change on a dime.

Theresa- A couple questions about the peanut butter balls: DS is going out of town for a soccer tournament and I thought I'd make some for his team. I can't be there - kinda bummed, but wanted to at least do something. So. Do you think they'd hold up in a cooler? How long can they be at room temp.? What kind of protein powder (flavor) did you use (and also what kind of Kashi cereal)??? That is more than a couple - . Sorry. And yes, please do let me know what you think of Extreme Cardio kb 2. I read a review of it to that gave a breakdown of the workout - sounded ... yikes. In a good way ;)

Lori

Lori-I keep them in the fridge until just ready to serve b/c they get sticky quick. If my Dh does not get hold of them, they will last 3-4 days. I mix the batter, spoon them onto wax paper and refrigerate them for at least an hour. I think they would travel well as long as they can be kept in a cooler. Let me know if you have any more questions. I think they would be a great snack after a soccer game :)

I used vanilla protein powder but I think chocolate would be great here too. I used Kashi go lean (the original cereal) but you could sub oatmeal, or any other kind of cereal and I think it would be fine. The ratios I gave you make about 10 average size balls (I'm sorry but I just giggled out loud again  )

It ended up being a very busy day. Felt like I drove lots of miles:0 I got home shortly before dh.

Lori, I thought those looked like some good tough workouts and was happy that they used weights in the cardio one. I got notice that they are being shipped today. I am not sure if that was a presale price on the set. No, I do not think that we will buy another fifth wheel. We sort of wanted a toy box on one for a bike. Right now we are looking at bikes. We sold ours when dh left this last time. Again, no one to drive it around which is something that it really needed. We hardly used the fifth wheel since dh had went to Iraq and Kosovo. I really did feel sad about it sitting outside and ds and I winterizing and dewinterizing every season while it sat here. I offered for my children to use it but they didn't. We did go out a lot when dh was here and we first got it. Also, we had two dogs shortly after we purchased it and found it was hard finding doggy care for two huge dogs (great dane and lab mix) Sooo, I think that kind of shortened the want to take trips.

Theresa, no we did not get flooded here. Had a stream running downhill in the back yard:D I am just happy that the area around the aerobic septic system did not rise over the risers I had put in. So no plumbing problems:D It started to rain a bit here at noon but let up shortly afterward.

Roselyn - I think you originally asked for a recipe for peanut butter balls? I thought I had one somewhere (it wasn't this one) but couldn't find it. Theresa posted this one last week:

Peanut Butter Balls
.5 c peanut butter
.5 c agave nectar
.5 c kashi cereal or oatmeal
2 scoops protein powder
.25 c chocolate chips (optional)

Mix together and let it refrigerate for at least an hour. Careful.......these are deadly :D

Theresa - Thank you so much for answering all my questions -- I can't much keep a straight face about them either - (heh. heh heh) We live in Rocky Mountain Oyster terrritory, after all  Your last comment was the best though :p (It's taking me a fair amount of restraint not to say ... well, many possibilities here, but I will mind my manners). I am now going to spend some time with Gin and then, off to Walmart seeking only the most manly jars of peanut butter - no hiding from this choosy mother ;) Btw, because of you, my evening sounds a whole lot more exciting than it's likely to really be  ... thanks though :D

Lori

Diane Sue - I missed your post. If I understand, the 5th wheel was a sentimental loss as much as anything else? If so, that's too bad - things like that really can't be replaced. Glad you're looking at bikes - a bunch of new memories to be made that way, I'd bet. How cool that your workouts are being shipped already. They did look good - very ... "you." ;) I ran across this clip on youtube back when we were talking about slingshots (I think) - meant to show it to you - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5dEFgD6kIs

I've lifted a couple ideas from it, but had to smile - kinda reminded me of you ;)
