HARDCORE CHECK IN TUES 6-1

I decided to start STS this week instead of next. I don't feel that I need a week off so I'm just going to go for it. STS has recovery weeks after each 4 weeks anyways, so that will be good. I could not wait to start my workout this morning. I so love this series.

Today was STS Meso 1, Disc 1, Chest, Shoulders and Biceps. Had a great workout except I'm really struggling with pushups for some reason. Not sure what that's all about.

These were the exercises. Not sure if posting the weights even matters. I had to lower on a lot of them. These exercises are very deceiving. They catch up to you quick. And she does a huge amount of pushups. I'm not too fond of that, but I did them.

1.5's means doing one full range of motion and then a partial rep. These killed.

Push Ups - Standard - 8 reps
Push Up Wide - 8 reps
Push Ups - Standardb - 20 then petered out
Alternating Seated Overhead Shoulder Press - 12's/15 reps
Barbell Curl - 35#/21's
Incline Chest Flyes - 20's/15 reps
Seated Rear Delts - 12's/15 reps
Bonus Band Pulls - Green band/15 reps of 3 pulls, then relax - these burned like a mother
Alternating Incline Curl w/Twist on SB - 15's/15 reps
Decline Pushups - 20 reps (was able to do all of these)
Incline Front Raise on Stability Ball - 5's/15 reps each arm
Standing Quarter Stop Curls Both Arms - 12's/12 sets doing one full curl, one quarter curl, one half curl - that equaled one rep.
Prone Pushups on Stability Ball - ??? - was suppose to be 20 reps - not sure how many I did. Not 20 that's for sure.
Seated Lateral Raise Both Arms High Ends - 5's/15 reps
Seated Concentration Curls 1.5's - 15#/15 reps
Straddle Pushups - 10 reps, was suppose to be 20
Side Leaning Lateral Raise - 5#/15 reps
Seated Curls Alternating + Both Arms - 12's/16 reps alternating, 8 reps using both arms.
Chest Flyes - 20's/15 reps
Seated Overhead Press - 12's/15 reps
One-Arm Preacher Curl on Stability Ball 1.5 - 15#/12 reps
Core Pushups - Boot Camp Ttyle - Did 10 bootcamp style, did 10 more on my knees
Seated Front Press Double Arms 1.5\'s - 25#/12 reps
Reverse Dumbbell Curl - 12's/8 reps doing 3cnts up, 1 cnt down; 8 reps doing 1 cnt up, 3 cnts down.
Staggered Pushups - 10 staggered, 10 standard on knees
Incline Rear Raise on Stability Ball - 5#/15 reps
Barbell Curl Wide Grip - 35#/21's

Now that I'm typing this out I'm really bummed about the pushups. I know when I did this first time around I completed almost all of them without going on my knees. Not sure what has happened to me? Guess I know what I need to work on.

Good morning -

Starting a week of Gym Style tomorrow. Cardio and maybe some yoga later today, if I have time.

Diane Sue - I saw your post about your workout yesterday. It looked great (but probably exhausting) :D

Debbie - Hope you had a good weekend. I remember a post by Cathe when STS first came out. It had been awhile since she'd filmed STS and was doing the workout on a thread with anyone that wanted to join her. Even SHE struggled with the push-ups. It had been awhile since she'd been doing them regularly. It seems like push-up strength (for that specific exercise) is lost but also recovered fairly quickly. Just thought I'd mention that. STS is great though, almost wish I were doing it again (except for the push-ups;) )

Have a good morning.

Lori

I wasn't very energetic this morning. Have a scratchy throat and have not slept well at all the last two nights. One was because of storms. Last night it was just my mind being too busy.
Workout was Amy Bento's Slo Mo chest, biceps, and triceps 53 min 118 calories:0 , then I did Kimberly Spreen's Cardio Combat Surge medicine ball mix 31 min 156 calories, I then did Brook Benton's Yoga warm up 11 mi, cardio kettlebell segment 11 min, and yoga cooldown 9.5 min, 155 calories 425 calories, 1 hr 55 minutes. Got to go run a bunch of errands.

Hi Everyone!

I only have a few minutes to post - busy day back to work. Anyway, I was excited to post another 2.5 lb weight loss over the past several days. Camp is really good for me as I stay so busy with hiking, biking, swimming, etc. I also did some "formal" exercise as well, but nothing cardio since I was so busy.

Today was ME, which really felt great. I hope I still have energy for my cardio day tomorrow!!

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!

Cheryl

Morning Maniacs - This morning I did IWMBB 3.0 workout 2 B. I added on a Cathe stretch. Workout was 75" (geezz...long) and I burned 720 calories. Max HR was 160. I had a pretty good workout. I finished off with Yin Yoga with Kim Eng. I got a bit antsy staying in poses as long as required for yin yoga.

I might have to cut down on a couple circuits of my Val workouts this week as I work the early shift most of the week and won't have that long to work out. She says you can do a couple of circuits 2-3 times, but I usually do them twice.

Forgot to add that I did 10 minutes of dance cardio after the 75"...thus the calorie burn.

Wow, you girls were chatty this last weekend. I read up on all the posts so now I'm all caught up.

My stomache gave me problems all weekend but now I'm feeling much better. Not sure what that was all about.

Lori - Thanks for letting me know Cathe had a hard time with those pushups. Geez. That woman is insane doing all those in one workout. But I'm going to work on them and get the reps out as best as I can. Pushups do good things for me. :) Have fun with Gym Style! Love that series!

Diane Sue - Nice workout today for not having any energy. I'm sorry you still aren't sleeping good. We had a hell of a storm last night. Got some flooding and all that fun stuff. Now the sun is out and it's humid. Go figure...

Cheryl - Nice job on the weight loss! You are really rockin' it. Hope it continues! I skipped out on the last week of this rotation. I was itching to start STS over again so I did. :) Nice job with ME!

Lora - Nice workout and calorie burn!! You go!

Anyone know where Linda has been? Hope she is ok.

Debbie-nice work on STS. I wish I had some advice on the pushups, but I suck at those in general. Glad the stomach is better

Lori-will you just be sticking w/ one week of GS? Also, AOS has Newport 20% off this week. (it is a killer kb workout)

Cheryl-would you like to share w/ the class what you are doing to get such great weight loss? :p good work on ME.

Diane Sue-if you had to pick one Brook Benton workout, which would it be? I was looking at the cardio fusion one......

Lora-you are getting some great calorie burns w/ the IWMBB. :)

No workouts for me this weekend. I was feeling off (tummy and allergies), and I was retaining water like no ones business  It was so bad my legs were aching. TTOTM is due any time now which accounts for some of the issues. I hope to get back into the game today.

Theresa - I love the cardio segment on the Fusion one!! It's fun....bit of kickboxing, bit of plyo and a bit of bootcamp. The music is weird on it though.

I did Powerstrike again  Very tired today- was going to take a rest day but decided to just do something, hoping it would help clear my head. I think it did, and I was curious to see how I felt about the workout once I was more familiar with it. About the same opinion as last time.

Debbie - I've really worked to develop a "friendship" with push-ups. I used to hate them - decided it was in my best interest to get over that. I usually incorporate a couple variations into the interval workout's I pull together. That's helped. I don't even mind burpees so much anymore. I know what you mean about Cathe, though. She can "chat" while doing them. Unbelievable. I've wondered about Linda, too - hope everything's ok.

Theresa - Thanks for the heads up about Newport. I suppose I'd better go for it - that's a pretty good deal. Do you think it might be too advanced for me as a kb newbie (still bang my forearm in cleans most of the time )? I guess I could just grab it now and save it for later, if nothing else. Maybe I'll have to get Providence, too ;) . I'm not sure if I'll do Gym Style again next week. I've been wanting to go into a couple weeks of full body/circuit work - seem to keep getting distracted. Btw, your comment to Cheryl struck me as very funny :p - still giggle when I think about it.
Hope you're feeling better today.

Diane Sue - Excellent workout - pooped or not :) It's miserable when a "busy mind" won't let you sleep. Hope you aren't too worn out today. We were supposed to have a storm hit but it missed us again. How have your flowers/garden held up through all of this?

Lora - It's hard for me to make myself calm down and do slower yoga with longer holds, too. Sometimes I feel more stretched out/relaxed with that version afterwards though. You've mentioned a lot of times you don't feel stretched out after yoga. Do you think the Yin style did a better job? How are you liking the dance?

Cheryl - I thought about you this weekend. Around here anyway, Memorial Day sort of marks the beginning of camping season. It sounds like you've been having a great (if also incredibly busy) time with it all. ^^^^^ 5 on your continued success. Good for you :D

Have a good evening -

Lori
