Roselyn-what kind of bag did you get, is it a hanging or standing bag?

Yesterday, I broke down and went to the chiropractor (I was VERY leary of this but I was hurting so bad, I didn't care). My right trap has been killing me for months and until yesterday, the best I could hope for was a dull ache. It got so bad last week, it was waking me up. He got my shoulder to stop clicking and did some adjustments, I feel pretty good today and the massage I am getting after work should hopefully make me feel like a new woman :D So, I rested yesterday and will do the same today. I think I will take it fairly easy the rest of the week and give my body time to recooperate. Hope everyone is doing well.

Today was Back and Biceps. Had a good workout. Should have done some ab work as well but just didn't feel like it.

1 minute rest between each set; 3 minute rest between going from back to biceps.

BACK
Horizontal Dumbbell Rows (double arm) - 12's/12 reps - 2 sets (warmup)

T-Bar Rows - 75#/8 reps - 3 sets (up 15#)
***Last time I did 60# and it was way too easy. When I did supersets I brought it up to 70#.

Australian Pullups - BW/10 reps - 3 sets

Double-Arm Dumbbell Rows - 25's/12 reps - 3 sets (up 10#)
***Used 15's last time. This was perfect for this exercise.

BICEPS
Barbell Curls - 60#/8 reps - 3 sets (up 5#)
***This felt real easy today. I was shocked that I did 60# at 8 reps.

Incline Dumbbell Curls - 16's/10 reps - 3 sets (up 1#)
***Brought this up only 1# because by the 3rd set of barbell curls my arms were fried.

Zottman Curls - 17's/12 reps - 3 sets (up 2#)
***Forearms really feel this one. I like this exercise.

Roselyn - Cool on the heavy bag! I want a floor one.

Theresa - Wow, I didn't know you were still having problems with your traps. I hope what he did helped, do you have to go back? I've had similar pain in my trap and neck area but it does go away. I sure hope you feel better, I know how annoying it is to have pain like that all the time.

Hey Everyone,

First day back at the job, argh….I been sick since Sunday, had a bad cold. Of course I got it from my grandson; he wasn’t feeling good on Xmas. Any who, this morning, decided to get back into the swing of things, I started with CC Candace man oh man I was feeling so sick while on my treadmill, I had to hop off several times.

This week, starts MESO 3, but, got sick before ending week 2/ disc 6. So, tomorrow going to start with that, matter of fact, I have to fine a way to complete 6,7,8,9 by Sunday. No way am I starting over:eek:, onward and forward! I have much to do here at work, tty guys later.

Roselyn - That's a great gift. DS and I were talking about how nice it would be to have a heavy bag. Looking forward to hearing what you think about it. Good workout today :)

Theresa - Glad you got in to the chiropractor and are taking care of yourself. I didn't realize it was bothering you so much, either  You must have been quietly toughing it out. I hope it continues to improve.

Debbie - Nice work today. Glad you enjoyed it :)

Teddy - I'd been wondering about you. Sorry you've been sick. I wouldn't start over from the beginning, either. That would be somehow discouraging. That's a lot of STS by Sunday, though  Hope you take it easy on yourself and continue to feel better.

Diane Sue - That was some workout yesterday. I'm not sure if that means you're feeling better or just pushing really hard. You got in a lot of good work, though. It is odd that the abs are included on both lower and upper body premixes for High Reps. I did go ahead and do it as planned (lower body premix) as well as the barre work from LBB. Also included the slingshot and TGU segments from Keith Webers 2nd workout. I spent some time looking at the mymadmethods site (thanks to Theresa's prompt). It's been awhile since I visited them. Very good stuff. It's hard to include all the different workout components I want to right now, but I sure enjoyed the kb's last night. There's the great info and progressions from Convict Conditioning I'd like to spend more time with (though I am still getting in Pistol Practice and getting much more comfortable with them). Also, Budokon and TRX and ... These, along with Insanity and regular free weight training ... I'm going to need to sit down and try to structure a rotation to include or cycle in/out these different components. I was planning to do meso 3 week 4 chest and back today. The Insanity workout followed by the Max Recovery has left my anterior delt a little tender (like you said, Diane Sue, the recovery workouts aren't exactly gentle and effortless). I may just go ahead and do it -- debating. Budokon tonight, I think.

Anyway. Hope you all have a good day.

Lori

Teddy-I hope you feel better soon, these little bugs are no joke this season :(

Debbie-nice workout, I really like your set up. If I ever go to a split again, I may need to borrow this from you :)

Lori-Lord....take care of that delt, this shoulder injury is no joke :( I hope you have a good workout no matter what you choose :)

And on the trap, I had an a-ha moment earlier. Last year (around October), I did something to my shoulder b/c I could barely lift any weight overhead on the right (I remember talking to Olesya about it), and then it slowly got better. The trap has been bothering me on and off for about a year, and I just kept assuming it was from improper posture at work (stupid computers). But now I think it was because I never addressed the shoulder, I just kept thinking it would heal itself. So basically, I injured my rotator cuff and had issues with external rotation. I also had a bit of an anterior dislocation (which doesn't suprise me). I am not entirely pain free today, but this is the best my shoulder has felt in a year. I follow up on Monday to see what else needs to be done.

SORRY FOR THE NOVEL

I started my workout with Lower Body Blast timesaver premix standing and cardio with no floorwork, 49 minutes 320 calories, then I did Body Max 2 power circuits... 27 minutes 236 calories. Workout was 76 minutes and calories burned was 556. Max HR during Body Max 2 was 162. I ordered Jari Loves Lean Machine from Amazon when I placed an order for my grandson's birthday so will do that Friday. I have grandchildren here this afternoon. DD went to the school today to get some things for her review when school starts back.

Lori, be careful with the tenderness. Budokon sounds like a good plan. I know what you mean about wanting to get in all of the components. That is why I sometimes do a short segment from different workouts to get in a little of all of it. I was starting to miss the kettlebells. I like to get in some heavy bag stuff here and there as well.
My energy is getting better. I still find myself huffing and puffing on things that are usually pretty easy to do. It is rather annoying.

Theresa, I am glad the chiropractor is giving you some relief. I have had injuries that lasted for months with me working around them. I imagine if I were to seek out help it wouldn't have lasted like that. One inparticular was my right elbow. I quit using weighted gloves and doing the heavybag for a very long time trying to get it to mend. Can you still do kettlebells with it like that?

Roselyn, I am sure you will love having the heavybag. I do enjoy using mine a lot:D Funny, I went to Sears with dh and was looking at the free standing heavy bag. I punched it and it fell over. You know how that temptation clicks. DH laughed at me because it didn't have the sand in the base. LOL

Teddy, sorry you have been sick. I know how that is. That is a lot of STS to get in by Sunday. I guess it is doable if you aren't to sick. I hope you feel better.

Debbie, nice workout:D

Hey everyone, I'm up in Washington with my fam, which is great, but until recently the internet's been real sketchy so I haven't been on much. Fiance and I got a new router for mom, though, so that's helping a lot.

A couple days ago I did the high impact and low impact drills from Intensity and then yesterday I started the compound exercise only premix from the STS total body. I got maybe twenty minutes through it and then the dvd player kinda froze so I went to the menu screen and was just gonna do the workout following the chapter menus, but after I finished the page I was on, it wouldn't go to the next page, and then it froze all together and wouldn't even open or turn off. Grrr. At that point I just worked out on my own a bit and then called it good.

I hope those who are sick and hurting get some rest! Theresa, I'm glad the chiropractor is helping. I went to a chiropractor for a while and it really helped a lot.

Very poor word choice on my part: "tenderness" in my anterior delt. I should have said very slight dom's  Anyway, decided to try a warm up set to see if it felt like they were too tired and they actually felt really ok. Work out went well. Was thinking about Budokon Power and Aglity later tonight. That one however, does have quite a lot of power moves (hence, the name, I guess :p) that involve the shoulder. They have likely had enough for today. Anyway, I popped in to see how everyone was and saw your ... concern over my comment. Sorry.

Great workout today, Diane Sue. Glad you're feeling better - I'm sure the shortness of breath does tick you off sometimes, but I'm sure that will resolve as you continue getting better. Still shocking to think of how long you were sick and kept plugging along. Sometimes, I wish we all lived closer. I'd sure let you borrow Budokon F & F to see what you thought about it or tide you over until you found a convenient way to order it. Curious to hear what you think about the new Jari. Her prices really are good. You are very good at getting in some of everything, btw. I've noticed that -- especially in contrast to how I tend to get focused on a couple things and "forget" the other pieces for periods of time.

Theresa - Thank you for explaining what's up with your shoulder/trap. I've been running across so much information/articles on that topic lately. The link between trap irritation (or trap strength imbalance -- upper dominant) and rotator cuff (even associated carpel tunnel issues) seems to come up a lot. So much related to the scapula which is really a "floating" joint - I wish the fitness industry addressed this more (Anthony D. and Pavel do a pretty good job, but ... ) Anyway, what you said makes a great deal of sense to me. T Nation (I think) had a pretty good article a week or so ago on shoulder health and preventative/rehabilitative exercises (just as an aside). I'm sure glad you're taking care of it and seeing the doc. You're good with this stuff and will make sound choices no doubt -- but still, I'm very sorry you are going through this. And yes. I will take care of mine, too (and not throw around the word "tender" so carelessly).

Have a good evening --

Lori

Lori, I am glad it is just doms. Was a little worried for you;) I was watching budokon clips with my grandson this afternoon. I bet you can do those levitation holds no problem with doing some of that. His guidence seems really good. I ordered F & F from Advanced workouts this afternoon. They had free shipping for 19 dollars. and it was $19.95. Was less than Total Fitness who lowered the price to $18.99 so I would be paying shipping. I like trying things that are new and different and this seems to fit what I would like.

Hermia, sorry about all of the problems with trying to get in a workout. That can be frustrating. I remember going through something similar when we were in a hotel room once and I tried to get in a workout.
