Hi Cathe!
I used to do your videos exclusively until 2006 - I signed up for marathon training and ran 4 marathons in 2006 & 2007. I didn't want to mix my marathon training with either Lower Body Weights or Step because of either tiring out my knees or bothering my joints / over training.
Well, I finished my last marathon (for at least a year!) Jan 13, so now I'm going to be focusing on Half marathons for a while. I want to get back into doing other things besides running, so weights and other forms of cardio, and working out 6 days per week.
For half marathon training, I run 2 short runs during the weekdays - 30 to 45 minutes. Weekends, I run long runs - anywhere from 6 to 17 miles.
My question is, should keep away from high-impact step workouts on my non-running days? Also, is it a good idea for me to incorporate lower body weight workouts, or should I let my muscles rest on my non-running days? If I do incorporate lower body weights, are there certain exercises I should avoid? Should I try to get a day of rest between running and either weights or step?
Ok, it was more than one question...
Thank you!
Kim
