Hair Thinning

NY25

Cathlete
So, on the recent topic of aging - has anyone experienced hair thinning as they've aged? I'm 41 and have noticed over the last year or two my hair is thinning. Enough that although others don't really notice it, I feel like I look like I'm going bald. I can totally see where my hair is thinning. I've been to the doc and so far, nothing seems to be wrong. A dermatologist is next, but I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what they did about it. I've heard this sometimes happens as we age. not cool.

I have the same problem only my hair has been thin, especially on top forever. For a while there I was seeing an endocrinologist since I looked like I fit the profile for PCOS.

But I don't really. And none of the drugs we tried worked, including the one men take for enlarged prostates.

Lately I've been considering trying minoxidil but have been hesitating to add something that I'd have to commit to forever.

But if it worked......

I don't have thinning hair but I've always had fine hair. I'm terrified of losing my hair and I use Nioxin products. My hairdressor recommended them and so far so good.

Women getting close to menopause or in menopause that have high testosterone in relation to estrogen tend to experience hair thinning.

I have baby fine hair too, and just started using Nioxin. Are you using the shampoo, conditioner and the foamy stuff afterwards?

I have baby fine, limp hair too and started taking hair, skin and nail viatamins about four months ago(maybe five)and I can definitely tell the differece!

Those that are using Nioxin, can you tell a difference? I've been using Treseme'(sp) for years!

I have always had really thick, curly hair (even on top). Well, I've noticed over the past few years my hair has been thinning as well (especially on top). Other people haven't noticed it, but I definitely have. I just turned 43 last week. I have heard from people that as you get older, your hair will begin to get thinner. Especially when you're nearing menopause. I haven't asked my doctor about this yet, but I intend to the next time I see him. I used to gripe because my hair was thick and hard to blow dry, etc., but now I wish it back:-(!

I'm eagerly awaiting responses on Nioxin (which products??) and the vitamins - please give details!!! How long did it take to see results?

I started using Nioxin again a few days ago. I don't think myhair is thinning is any one particular place (not YET anyway), but is juts shedding overall. I don't know if it's just a higher shed because of the time of the year, or maybe stress??? I also started the hair, skin, and nail vitamins. I heard that to notice of difference with these though, may take several months. It's scary that most women's hair gets thinner closer to menopause.....that doesn't give us much hope, though I see TONS of women in their 60's and 70's with full heads of hair?????????
