Gym Style Series

Hi all. I have a question about the GS series DVDs. What Cathe strength video do you find them most like? Do you lift heavy weight in these videos or is it more endurance? I read the chaptering of the DVDs on the website. Is the video set up something like 3 sets of 8 reps?? I know that it is probably hard to compare, but I like the SH and PUB and PLB DVDs. Is that a good gauge as to whether I might like these? Thanks for your help!!!

I think the general consensus is GS is an upgrade version of the Pure Strength series. I do try for heavy in the upper body GS series.I do Freestyle for my lower body so I go light with the weights as I do lower body 5-6 times a week. I feel GS would be a good addition to S&H and the Pyramids. I really love the band work in the GS series. Yiu realy feel the burn. I am not real sure of the rep count. I think its 3 sets of 10, but others will correct me if I am wrong...:)...Carole

I love the Gym Style Series. It's by far my personal favorites. I also have S & H and the Pyramids and I like them alot but I love Gym styles, especially legs. You won't regret this purchase, IMO.

The Gym Styles mixes a bit of the pure strength and slow and heavy styles of working out, and adds band work to boot. A lot of the exercises are in sets of 12 reps. The band work is longer. So there's some endurance mixed in there as well. If I want to go real heavy, I shave off 2-4 reps from the usual sets, so I do only 8-10, which makes it closer to a pure strength series. I do this for the upper body workouts. If you like S&H, you'll like GS. I'm not a big fan of S&H, but I like the slow counts in GS.

Gym Style is great for strength. I find, however, that when I lift heavy I need more rest between sets than Cathe and crew need, so I just pause the player until I am ready to go on.

They are definitly a worthwhile investment.

YES, get the GS series! :) I was a bit hesitant with GS Legs at first, after coming off the S&H (which I love!), but now I really am liking GS Legs. I'm even getting to like the stability ball and band work too, now. :)

It is a little different from S&H, though, in rep speed in the Leg series. GS Legs does have some slow rep leg exercises, but it also has quicker ones, too. I can use higher wts in S&H Legs, but I have to lighten a bit for GS Legs. I get a bit of a cardio workout during the faster reps parts and because of the shorter rests, too. I try to have my wts lined up, to avoid hitting the pause button on the remote.

I think that if you have S&H, the Gym Styles are a good way to move through any plateaus, or just for a change in your strength rotations. :) I loved the other 2 GS dvds (Back/Biceps & Chest/Triceps) right from the start. No faster reps there. And the bicep workout is KILLER, with those half reps! WOW WOW WOW! Love it! :D

I think of Gym Styles as Pure Strength on steroids. The upper body work, esp. chest, is killer if you do it as is. She starts you with 72 pushups (you do dropsets) and then you move onto bench work to completely fry those chest muscles. I usually just do the premixes. This series has given me awesome results. But it's not easy!
