GS - One body part a day?

Hi Everyone,

I read in another post somewhere about doing GS, but splitting it to only hit one body part per day. Example:

Mon - Back
Tues - Biceps
Wed - Shoulders
Thurs - Chest
Fri - Tris
Sat or Sun - legs

And I ride a stationery bike for cardio 3 to 4 mornings a week.

Do you think this type of rotation will be just as effective as doing GS 3 times per week working the body parts as shown with the videos?

I am trying it, but wanted others opinions. Since an hour of weight work is hard for me to mentally get in to. I have a much easier mental time with it if I split it up.

I love doing GS as 1 part per day. Personally I think its better to put your leg day mid week to break up the upper work...remember that even w/ 1 part per day all your upper body muscles contribute so theres a chance of over training if you are lifting heavy (however that is defined by you). I have a sensitive shoulder so I try & allow either leg day or a cardio day before I do shoulders.

As an aside.... doing GS 3x a week (if you are lifting to your capacity) is really too strenuous on your body.... Its just too intense, too many reps & too many exercises to do it on a typical 3x a week (like you might do MM, ME, SS,PH etc...)

Just my thoughts.

What am I missing? How can you do GS 3 X a week? I ask b/c I have been pondering this one again. Was going to do it this week but didn't. I feel like if I do it, I need to do each one and then a total body w/o. That would give me 4 weight training days out of the 7.

GSs are designed as a 3x per week program. Meaning you do one of the w/o on three days of the week. Not that you do each w/o three days per week (I think that's what you were asking). You could do C&T on Monday, GSL on Tues, and the BSB on Wed. Then you could do a TB on Friday or Sat. I am not sure you would need this though. Personally I'd do something like C&T Mon, Legs Tues or Wed and the BSB on Friday.

Thanks for your replies.

I do want to clarify that when I wrote "do GS 3 times per week" I meant do each GS w/o(CT, BSB, Legs) once per week totalling 3 w/os.

I will continue my one body part per day, but take your advice and stick the Legs in the middle. I just wanted to put Legs on the weekend when I have more time to do the longer w/o...ya know..

But so far...almost through the first week of this rotation....I am loving this because the weight w/os are shorter and....to me.....less daunting. Because by the time I start to think I am getting tired of doing this.....like magic......I am done.

Whatever it takes right! :)
