GS Legs

Gyggles1

Cathlete
I just did GS Legs for my first time today, all I can say is OUCH - LOL, of course its a good kind. I did the whole DVD & the bonus sets when there were bonuses to do, all I keep thinking is if I am this sore today I might not be able to do my run tomorrow much less walk LOL. This workout ought to get my legs ready for summer.

During the floor part using the bands for the inner thighs, did anyones knees hurt them ? Maybe I didn't have the bands in the right place around the foot.

Laura,
i did this one today too. I'm planning IMAX 3 tomorrow- well maybe. We'll have to see how I'm moving. LOL. BTW great pics you look awsome!!

I did it today too. When Cate grabbed 5 pounds for those static lunges, I knew I was in trouble. Those 4 reps on each side were killer. I really ove this workout. I think the floorwork was every bit as intense as the standing leg work.

Laura, my first time through GS legs was yesterday. I have a nice sore spot where the hamstrings meet the glutes. I'm pleased that I'm not crippled as I was the first few sessions of Leaner Legs!

I had to adjust my leg position on the inner thigh work. Double check that you're set up like Cathe, I wasn't & felt some unwelcome strain.

Cathe grabbing 5's for leg work was a shock. So was the exercise!

Debra

Yes...when Cathe grabbed 5's I thought..."uh oh!!!" This was a tough workout. The ball work was tough. I am going to have to work towards the ball work where she only used one leg at a time...I had to use both feet at the same time. I still got a good burn. Today is a scheduled rest day....ahhhhh!

hey laura,

my name is ki. And I am relatively new to Cathe. I have to admit that I probably work on my lower body more b/c I have a thin waist but I have bigger thighs and a bigger butt. I think that you have just made my decision about what dvd to get first. I wanted to ask you, is this new gs legs more like the leg work she does in her older dvds like the dead lifts and the squats and plies or is it more new stuff? And also what size is the band? Where did yours come from (if not with your purchase)? Thanks in advance for replying.

Hi Ki,

Welcome to Cathe, she is the best!
I have to say most of her moves in this DVD are new moves, the deadlifts are deadlifts still but done differently, believe me I would buy this DVD, I felt those deadlifts a lot more then I usually do. I am in the next day now and I am not as sore as I thought I would be but I am sore, my calves and butt still are sore but my thighs are ok. My band is the one I got with my order, I am not sure how long it is maybe someone else can chime in. I would say at least 5 feet.
MY thighs and lower half are my problem areas and I can see with this workout its got to kick that in to shape in a quick hurry so this one will be in my rotation every week.
I edited this to say OWWWWWWWWW my soreness decided to wake up now LOL. IT hurts to sit down, stand up, walk LOL.
Good Luck!

I just did this workout for the first time this AM. I loved it. It wasn't just the same old thing thing with squats and lunges. I appreciated the new spin on the exercises on the standing and floor work. I agree, the one leg on the ball was hard. The band really kicked things up a notch. Overall, I loved this workout because of the nice balance between standing leg and floorwork.

I also did this workout for the first time this morning. I absolutely love it. There are new moves, new twists on old moves, and the band really takes it up a notch. My inner thighs were "pinching" during those pulses and my calves were "singing" during that part of the workout. "Pulse" should be Cathe's middle name! Or "again". She says "again" a LOT! The standing work and floor work were equally challenging. My legs were quivering at the end of those slow lunges with the 5 lb. weights. This is a leg workout that I will use again and again. Thanks Cathe!!! :)

I did this workout several days ago and ABSOLUTELY love it. Some of the tried and true moves with new spins and some new things. She did a fantastic job putting this workout together. I ordered the mini step topper the day after I did it because I feel I need it for this workout. I was using a stool but it keep slipping in parts.

BUT the main thing is, this workout, in my opinion, is her VERY BEST lower body workout ever. I would highly recommned it..

I'm off to try Kick max next....

i think this is going to take over as my new favorite leg/lower body workout!

my knees didn't bother me for the band inner thigh work.. but were starting to bother me with the ball "one-legged squat" thingys a bit...

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

I am in the same opinion as all of you! OUCH! I did this for the first time this morning and was VERY skeptical, as I love my PLB! But it's a GREAT workout and as many of you said, the entire workout is fresh and new. My co-workers are laughing at me everytime I stand up or sit down, and I only did the workout 7 hours ago. Imagine what I'm going to feel like tomorrow morning! YIKES.

You guys who are saying your inner thighs were singing or talking...well mine were SWEARING at me. LOL

I cam back to add that I could only do a very few reps on the ball with one leg. Everything else was 2 legs. Gives us something to work towards.

LOVE THE BAND!

Gayle

I did this for the first time this morning. LOVED IT!!!!! I was swearing at the tv during the floorwork. My husband was riding the elliptical at the same time and just laughing at me!!!! I felt a great burn all the way through. Loved (and hated) those slow lunges. How can those girls not make funny faces when they are working out????? I am grimacing all the way through those!!!

Hey Laura - you look FANTASTIC!!!! Nice job!!!! Keep up the good work. Cathe will surely get you "toned up"!!!!

This was a great tape! My hamstrings were SORE after all of those deadlifts. I couldn't finish the floor inner/outer thigh exercises. Using the band made it TOUGH!

Enjoy the burn, everyone.

I did this for the first time yesterday. Man, I sure feel it in my outer thighs and glutes today! Must be those outer thigh lifts with the band! Very tough!

The only part of the workout that my knees started bothering me alittle were on the one-legged ball thing....I ended up bending my leg that was lifted and resting my foot on the knee of the the leg that was working. It made it a little easier but I was still able to keep going using one leg. I hope this makes sense!

All in all I loved this workout!

For those of you that have pyramids lower body and legs and glutes and leaner legs how does GS Compare to them. Is it higher intensity more reps? I think this might be calling my name soon. I figured it might be close to some of the others.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Laura I hope you are doing great.

Deb:) :( ;-) :D :* :p

>I just did GS Legs for my first time today, all I can say is

I'll add "YEOW" to that (that's what I write in the margins of my workout log when I hit a particularly tough exercise that "hurts so good." I think there are two "YEOW's" with GS Legs: the slo-mo lunges and some of the ball work.)

As for the bands hurting during inner thigh floor work, I didn't have any problem, but using resistance at the foot or ankle at that angle can put stress on the knee. It's better to put the resistance above the knee (which would be easier to do with a weight held above the knee rather than trying to figure out how to set up the band that way).

Hi Gayle

I would love my inner thighs to swear at me if it was a great workout which it sounds like it is. Do you get a good hamstring workout also?
the exercise with the legs on the ball sounds very interesting and hard. thanks for the imput, and thanks everyone.
