GS Chest & Tri's!!!!

Wow, how I love this workout, just did it this morning and had a kick butt workout! I can do all 72 push ups on my toes, but I have to take a longer break between to recover. Can anyone on here do all 72 as quickly as Cathe does? If you can, I bow down to you!!!

Wow - not even close. Although I will say that I'm getting much better since I first started. I'm still on my knees, but I'm up to doing every other set, starting with the 16, but I only now have to skip the 14 and the 10. The rest I can do. Pushups from my toes are many, many moons away. I'm too weak. But congrats to you - I'm impressed!!
 
I bow down before you and kiss your toes (the ones upon which you do 72 pushups)! I am not even close - I do them all on my knees and not as fast as Cathe can do them on her toes, that's how wimpy I am. :eek:
 
WOW! To all who can do 72 or even come close! Way to go Debbie! That is awesome. How long did it take for you to get here? I'm now able to do all other work outs on my toes, but there is no way I could even come close to 72.

I don't have this work out yet, but was looking at the description and I was thinking I could possibly do the work out even though I don't have the DVD yet. But how many reps does she do for the rest of the work out after ALL of those push ups?

3 sets of db presses, 12 reps per set
3 sets of db flyes, 12 reps per set
2 sets of incline db presses, 12 reps per set
2 sets of incline db flyes, 12 reps per set
2 sets of close grip presses, flat bench - 10 reps first set, 10 reps second set + bonus 4 sets of 4-4 counts

Doing the push-ups at Cathe's pace keeps me from lifting heavier during all that weight work. And my chest muscles quiver by the time I'm in the middle of the triceps section. Some weeks I do GS-chest/back as a push/pull variation.

I did it the first time doing half on my toes, half on my knees and the same break time as Cathe did. I ended up injuring my shoulder blade area, I got a huge knot right there by my shoulder blade and it killed me for a week. So the next time I did it, I started the first 16 reps on my knees, then did the next 14 on my toes then the next 12 on my knees and so on. The third time I did it, I was able to get through all 72 on my toes, but took longer breaks than Cathe did. That has helped a lot. I don't know how she does all those so quickly.

I also went higher with the bench press than Cathe using 25 lbs. dumbbells for the first three sets of 12 reps. Then I dropped to 20s and stayed there for the rest of the presses and flies.

Hey, I did it the first time, I nearly died, but I didn't quit, lol.
I can do them all, when I was done, I call my BF, my bestfriend, my kids, they thought that I was crazy. My hat is off for all of you ladies, because I know how hard it is.

I do them with longer rests. I keep trying to decrease that rest time but just can not seem to make any headway with that. But I'm ok with taking a little extra rest. Heck 2 years ago I couldn't do one pushup on my toes. :D It is such a feeling of accomplishment isn't it?

Thanks Pinky! As usual you are so helpful.:) I'll have to give this one a try this week.

As for those push ups. I'll give it a try, but think I'll do them after all the weight work. Anyone else try this? Definitely, lots of rest in between the sets (for me).

I bow to you all who can do them at all on your toes.

I'm just getting back into fitness and can't do all the pushups on my knees... yet!
That's my goal, to do them all on my toes.
 
I started out doing all 72 on my toes as quickly as Cathe. Now I do all of them on BOSU which is quite a challenge.

Show Off! (Just kidding!) That's fantastic. How long have you had your BOSU? I've been toying around with the idea of getting one.

OBTW - I can do all 72 pushups on my toes, too! I've always had a strong upper body. I never did push ups from my knees even as a kid! Had to keep up with my brothers!

I do all the rest of the chest workout and make the push ups my last one's-so I can lift heavier.The last time I did them on my toes and knuckles(first time doing them on my knuckles).It sure test your strength and endurance.

Thanks. It sounds like you are doing great too. I know what you mean about keeping up with someone...I gotta keep up with my husband so that pushes me. A little competitive edge doesn't hurt sometimes....

I've had my BOSU for a couple of months now. I highly recommend it for a more challenging workout. I use it for various excercises - I stand on it sometimes for biceps, shoulders, and triceps. My balance is totally off on somedays so I don't lift as heavy when I'm using it...

Hey Sheila,

I don't know why this didn't cross my mind to do the push-ups last, because this is how I treat PUB bicepsx( x( x(, I do them first to get them out of the way.....WHEW.

The very next time I GS Chest & Tris, which will be soon}( }( }(, I'll try it your way, just so I can go heavier with flyes & bench. I like doing the push-ups on my knuckles as well.

And as far as doing all 72 on your toes, well YOU GO GIRL. I have to do some on the toes then the knees and so on. But I'll keep trying.

Haydee I do that with workouts all the time if I want to go heavier on a group I put it first -sometimes chest and back are the last ones worked.Pub I ususaly do shoulders-biceps-triceps-chest and back the shoulders on pub KILL me a huge dread factor with it-it's almost aerobic.And I always switch exercise's around to suit me.you will get the 72 pushups on your toes be sure to write it down and the next time try to do at least 1 more than the previous workout.
