GoWear Fit

Through amazon you get a code for the first 3 months of the subscription free, then you choose how much you want to pay based on what time commitment you want, so for a 12mo commitment its 6.95 a month (charged monthly after your free time is up), and it ranges up from there to i think 12.95 max if you go month to month. you can choose one level when you first sign up, use your 3 months and then you can change to whatever you want after that as well, so its flexible.

I just ordered it through Amazon but I didn't see anything about a code for the subscription fee. Is it a coupon that will be included in the box with my order? Also, I just now realized that the system I ordered doesn't include the display device. Gee, that kind of bums me out! Does anyone have the display device and is it worth the extra $60?

Michele: The free 3 month code will be on a card that is in the box with your armband device. As for the display, I say order it! Really, I love having it. It isn't the prettiest watch I have ever worn, but it looks like a sports watch and since I wear jeans or yoga pants pretty much everyday, it's fine. I turn it so the display is on the inside of my wrist.

The display lets you check the steps taken, calories burned, amount of moderate and vigorous activity and the time. It gives you happy little beeps when you get to your goals and I love that! On Cathe step mornings, I reach my 10,000 steps goal by 11 am. I could babble on about how terrific this device is for about an hour, seriously. I had 3-5 pounds of Christmas candy that I could NOT remove from my behind and after having this for 2 weeks, the weight is just about gone. I hope you love yours too! :)

Wow, so this thing sounds AMAZING..!! Can someone here explain how it tracks your calories IN? Also, I attend Bikram yoga ( hot, hot, sweaty 90 mins at a time). It is not steamy in there, but I sweat profusely. Will the device handle this? I know I shouldn't shower or swim in it...but, this is very sweaty stuff.

The calories "in" are supplied by you when you log your meals for the day into the nutrition part of the activity manager online. Sweating is fine, just not bathing, swimming or showering with the armband. Yes, they ask for your age, sex, height, weight, activity level, etc. and they do the number crunching based on your goals.

Yes, there are lots of foods available to log. Yesterday mine was sent a firmwear upgrade, so I found it interesting it is kept current.

Just FYI for those of you that doubt you would like logging food everyday, you don't have to use it that way. There is another option- you log just three days of food. They recommend a weekday, Friday and one weekend day. Then it just takes the average and uses that for calories in everyday. If you eat the same things quite a bit, that should also work.

Thanks for that info! I do tend to eat the same things a lot. Knowing that I don't have to keep track of what I eat all the time to make this work is helpful.

I don't eat much pre-packaged food, however. How do you enter foods that you've prepared from scratch? Do you have to enter each ingredient, or do they have general categories that you can choose from? (I realize that the calorie count will have a considerable margin of error!)

I ordered this yesterday when someone else posted a thread about the sale.:) It sounds like a great gadget. I'm hoping it'll help me lose the 15 pounds I've been trying to get rid of for a long time.:(

Kathryn: There is a considerable database of foods- for instance, eggs are in there and egg whites. Fruits and vegetables are there and so are some name brand foods. Really, quite a bit is in there now that I think about it. You might have to put in a little bit of labor up front to put your more popular foods in there if they are missing, though. For instance, I eat A LOT of Trader Joe's fat free greek style yogurt. It wasn't in there so I added it to the database. HTH.
