Good Morning Everyone

Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum since I'm new. Also to help me to stay with my goals.;)Because I am already having negative thoughts after my first workout this morning. As with most people, I have obstacles. The worst one is that I've been dealing with daily headaches for 8 years. :( I've been seeing an alternative doctor for the past year and she has helped me a lot! The headaches are not daily anymore, it's sporatic. I may do good for a week then have headaches for 2 weeks. We have gotten to some childhood issues, but obviously not all of them. When I move a lot, it causes my head to hurt more. Like working out. ;( So that's why this is so hard for me. I want to work out to lose 80 pounds, I know it will make me feel better.....but it makes my head feel worse. That's a tuffy!

I live in Michigan with my husband and 3 children that we homeschool. Seven years ago I was working out, eating right and lost 40 pounds...I've kept 20 of that off until recently...now the number is 35. ;( :-( My oldest child is graduating this year and my first goal is to lose 24 pounds by June 8th for her open house. That's 12 weeks from now, and it's 2 pounds a week. I just need to keep thinking about my goal.

Thanks for listening to me. I'm off to work. Have a great day.

Wow, I can't imagine dealing with headaches like that for 8 years. I have suffered from some serious migraines and they're crippling. Congrats to you for getting back into fitness. This does sound like a tough obstacle to overcome, but you can do it!! Just know that you don't have to do killer, 2 hour workouts. Just moving a little bit will help. I hope you can keep those headaches away. How awful.

Welcome to the forums! We're glad to have you! :)

Yes, welcome to the forums! :) Those headaches sounds awful, but it's nice to hear that they're getting better!

Like Allison said, just try to take the weight loss slowly. What Cathe workouts do you have? Do the cardio ones exacerbate your headaches since they involve a lot of movement?

Welcome!

Getting it together,

Welcome aboard.

My father used to have migraines for years, he was born in Michigan and moved out to the Pacific NW. He went to an acupuncturist in Seattle (not sure how long) and his migraines went away. He was before his time, because this was in the 60's or 70's. Not saying it will help you, just perhaps give it a try. Could it be allergies? black mold, carpets anything else environmental?

Congratulations on your weight loss so far.

I know with losing weight and building muscle and gaining health, you need to be consistent. Try and get a handle on your headaches, if not do the best you can do.

Invite yourself over to the "Check ins and Challenges" forums for more support. Also look at the "Rotation" Forum and choose a rotation for beginners and/or intermediate or advanced, and EAT CLEAN (food that is more to nature, no processed food). Watch your servings and perhaps eat 5 small meals a day each with carbs, fats, and proteins.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Good Morning Getting it together I am in Michigan too! Welcome. My dad suffered for years with migranes and he went in and it was an aneurism (sp).

Hi and welcome!

According to my dentist, another cause of migraines and other headaches is clenching and grinding your teeth, especially at night, or while driving in traffic, etc. I wear a bite guard to sleep a few nights a week, and if I skip wearing it for too many nights I get a killer headache the following afternoon (not migraines, but still painful). The bite guard keeps me from biting down on my back teeth all night.

Just another idea...hope you find something that works! Good luck to you!

Another Michigander here! Or Michigoose, as the case may be! I'm near Lansing - where are you?

You've come to the right place for support! Best of luck to you!

Yes, it's been a tough road, with still more to come. But like you said I CAN DO IT! Just getting the head pain down to a mild is much easier to deal with.

Thanks for the welcome Allison.

Well, (grinning) I don't have any of Cathe workouts. I've watched her on Fit TV and I think she looks awesome! It doesn't come on here until 7am and I have to workout between 6-7am. But I can do them on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. I'm seriously thinking about getting one of those I think it's called a DVR, from Direct TV where you can record shows onto the recorder. Then I won't have to kick out so much money for DVD's. I would like to get some DVD's though. Yes, cardio does make my head pain worse, so does ab work, because I'm moving my head so much. But I'm doing it anyway! I've got to get this weight off! I feel horrible!

Thanks for the welcome!

Hi Janie,
I'm seeing an alernative doc who does accupressure, N.O.T, 3-in-1 Concept, sacral cranial and much more. It's helping wonderfully. It's from a childhood trauma. The pain started because my body was saying that it was time to deal with the trauma.

I was mistaken on my weight loss, I had lost 40 pounds and kept 20 of that off for 6 years. Until recently have put on 10 more of those pounds. So I'm only keeping off 10 pounds so far. But that number is going to get bigger!!

Thanks! I will check out the "Check ins and Challenges". Probably not til the weekend when I have more time.

Hello fellow Michigander! Oh, that's horrible about your dad. I'm glad mines not an aneurism. Mine is emotional. Did you know that 80% of our physical problems is emotional?? I find that amazing!

Thanks Beth!!

Wow, you must clench and grind awefully hard!! My husband just went to our alternative doc for teeth grinding and she said that it's because he has parasites. So we're taking care of them!! Parasites is no big deal. We deworm our animals, why shoudn't we deworm ourselves?

My head pain is from a childhood trauma. My doc said that the pain started because my body was saying that it was time to deal with the trauma. It's hard to deal with a truama that you had blocked from your mind.

Thanks for the welcome!

Hi Beth and welcome. A friend of mine dealt w/ headaches/migraines for years but found nearly complete relief w/ Chinese herbs, but he works w/ a guru guy who knows him very well. I am glad you are finding something that seems to be helping.
Good luck w/ your fitness. Working on your diet will have the greatest impact on your weight, imo. I've used weight watchers w/ success and still use those tools today...front load w/ veggies and fruits, stick to whole foods, etc.
Congrats on grad your dtr, too. I've been hs my two girls since the beginning, they are 14 and 12 now.
Can you sub walking/power walking when you have headaches? would that help?
Getting the DVDs is really worth it...an older one I consider to be a great value and easy to use as a beginner is Power Hour/MIS/Bodymax.
Rotsa Ruck and sorry if this was too much unsolicited info, I'm having a codependent relapse this morning.
