Does anyone have any clean recipes for Halibut or Tilapia. I eat a lot of these two fish and am starting to get bored with the way I usually prepare them. Any new ideas would be great. Everything I seem to find online has a lot of oil or butter.

Thanks!

HI, I sure do. Put a little fat free or low mayonnaise on it, alittle parmesian cheese & some garlic & onion power ( whatever spice of no spice you want) put it in the broiler for about 12 minutes & enjoy. There is no limit what taste you can use with the spices. Sometimes instead of mayo I just use olive oil cooking spray. You can also put a little almond meal ( I use almond meal instead of whole wheat flour in my recipes)or bread crumbs

The above works with any type of white mild fish

3 Tablespoon dill
3 Tablespoon lemon juice
3 Tablespoon dry white wine
1 bay leaf

preheat oven to 375
place fish on 2 layers of foil. season with salt and pepper
bring up the foil on all sides and add ingredients. fold sides together like a tent and crimp the edges
bake 20 minutes

it calls for salmon but i have also used halibut.
sometimes, instead of wine, i use yogurt.

Love both of these fish.

I usually prepare my fish with just some olive oil, lemon juice and some herbs and garlic. Bake or broil in the oven - or place in some foil - and cook on the bbq.

The herbs I use are either oregano or basil - but have also used herbes de provence.

Another way I have done halibut - and it is so so yummy this way - was to rub with olive oil - and pour some homemade (or jarred) salsa on top.. and bake in the oven....
Orrrr - mix the salsa with some spinach leaves and cover the fish with this mix - then bake in the oven - this is a very tasty recipe.

Happy cooking.

I'm not much of a cook, but the local grocery store has these fish available on sale all the time, so we have them a lot. Now I see someone has "stolen" my secret recipe!! :) :) :) I usually bake the fish in a casserole dish covered with salsa or bruschetta topping (tomatoes, garlic, roasted red peppers, basil and oregano all choppped together - think of it as Italian salsa). For another family favorite, I layer the fillets in the dish with capers and strips of red, yellow and green peppers. Once I did a garlic, spinach, feta and onion bake that I thought tasted pretty good. DH doesn't like spinach, though, so he gave it the thumbs down.

Thanks ladies! These are some great ideas! I like to idea of using salsa because it has so much flavor. I can't wait to try some of these.

Thanks again!

Katie

I usually just spinkle some Mrs. Dash on each fillet and bake.
Sometimes I'll wrap the fillets in tin foil with some spinach (after the spices sprinkled on).
