Goals for 2007

(1) start P90Xand somehow fit it into my regular exercise classes and routines

(2) get all the "crap" out of my house that I find useless and have not used in the last year

(3) eat cleaner

(4)get back to my yoga practices and try to learn to be more patient and calm:)

Hmmm... I want to:

Lose 10 lbs of fat (notice I said fat)
Sculpt my abs (ongoing-need to succeed at line above first)
Pay down debt drastically
Increase my income
Spend wisely
Have my own home
Increase positive thinking
Become more spiritual
Incorporate more yoga

My goals for 2007:

1. Go vegetarian completely - not just most of the time.
2. Get my relationship with DH to where it should be. Stop fighting so much!

I've been thinking a lot about this for the past few weeks!

My goals for 2007 are:
1. Get organized!
2. Stay organized!
3. Keep my workouts going and kick it up a notch!
4. Pay off my credit cards and stop using them mindlessly!
5. Have more patience with my kids.
6. Laugh more, love more and give more!:)

Happy 2007, Everyone!

Well - my mother passed away at 66 from breast cancer. I turn 47 this year. My son is 11 so with that in mind . .

~Lose 15 lbs by eating clean. No beer.
~Stay on my workouts so I can get off my anti-depressant.
~Finish organizing my pictures so I can scrap my son's life as it flies by our eye's.
~Decide what I really want to do - stay in real estate (no money due to the market) or go back to school and pursue a nursing degree which I can use for a long time (God willing).
~Learn to knit.

My goals (and this is a first for me because I've never had goals before) are:

*do more yoga, at least 3 sessions a week.
*clean up my eating, cut sugar, limit alchohol. I love wine, this will be tough!
*complete one of Cathe's rotations! I've never completed a rotation in my life!

#1 goal: I want to go sugar-free in 2007.

I'd also like to do yoga at least once per week (I've never done yoga), read a book a month, and get the last of the credit cards paid off (hubby and I should have this goal accomplished by March - nine months ago, we owed almost $16,000 in credit card debt, but we have worked really hard and now only owe about $2,000).

To those who say they want to clean/dust more, remember this:

Why spend your lifetime cleaning away dust to end up buried 6 feet under it? :)

In other words, you'll never clean up all the dust, so spend more time reading, learning, taking walks, and LIVING. The dust will still be there when you're done.

I've been reading a lot of people's goals and thought I would just point out one thing:

It's not really a goal if it's not measurable. A goal by it's very nature is measurable. If you can't put a measurement to your goal, then it's not really a goal. For example, "exercise more" isn't really a goal, because what is "more"? More could be an extra 5 minutes a day, 30 minutes per day, or an extra two times per week, etc...the possibilities are endless. A better goal would be to say, "I want to exercise a total of 4 hours per week" or "...5 times per week for 30 minutes each."

"I want to pay down some debt" becomes "I want to pay an extra $200 per month toward my credit card debt." "I want to increase my income" becomes "I want to make an extra $400 per month working a part-time job".

If you make your goals for 2007 measurable (and realistic and attainable), you're more likely to keep them. Vague statements make it so much more likely that you will fail by February. And don't try to right the Titanic with several life-changing goals all at once. Pick one or two big goals and shoot for those. It's not as overwhelming that way.

Happy goal-setting!

Health & Fitness goals

1. Increase the weight I use for each body part by at least 5 pounds to increase my strength.
2. Lose the last 10-15 pounds of excess fat that I am carrying around by continuing to commit to my eating plan. I am giving myself a whole year to do this but I really hope to have it done by my birthday in July.
3. Wean myself off of artifical sweeteners. No deadline here since this involves giving up coffee since I can't drink it unsweetened. It's going to take me a while but, hopefully by the end of the year.

Financial Goals

1. Pay off the balance on our credit card by May.
2. Prepare our house for sale so it can be on the market by early spring-early summer 2008 (the list of things to do is really too long to list here:7)
3. Increase my savings by $100 per month.
4. Stop using my emergency fund for non emergencies.

I'm keeping my fitness goals doable this year. All I want is to stay healthy and gain a few pounds of muscle. That way, I won't be disappointed. ;)

I probably set too many goals but, at least I got them all on paper
1. To stop complaining about things that I can't change and be grateful for what I have.
2.Increase positive thinking
3.lose 10-15 lbs of fat
4.eat cleaner drink more water no more wine nights!
5.have more paitience stop fighting over stupid things
6.start a savings
7.keep working out add more weight into my workouts
8. go back to school

Hmmm, let's see:

Try to lean out my premenopausal middle!

Lose 10 pounds...not neccesarily worried about the scale but want to lose fat and make more muscle.

Find more time to come here to "talk" to you all!

Eating cleaner for both DH & I...we have made great strides but need to do better.

Try not to stress so much about my business and just enjoy the ride!

Take time to slow down and just enjoy what God has given me...my health, DH, Kids, GK's and MUCH more!

Fitness-related:

Work up to either 27.5 or 30-lb dumbbells as my lightest weightload for my upper body work (am currently at 25-lb dumbbells as the lightest);

Include weighted cardio in every land session (I have become seriously addicted to Drill Max's weighted cardio segments) and use at least a 10-lb weightload for all cardio segments (I currently use a 7.5-lb weight plate for Drill Max weighted cardio segments including blast #3)

Develop and implement an aquatic circuit routine (including use of aqua resistance fins which I currently don't have), an aquatic weighted cardio workout routine, and at least four more deep water routines with aqua jogger and resistance mitts;

Non fitness-related:

Redevelop my Spanish-speaking skills so that I can interview Hispanic victims and witnesses without an interpreter (already have signed up with an online Spanish for law enforcement training site);

and (don't laugh)

Get my driver's license (one of my quirks: I don't drive).

DH and I hit a goal this year: we are now totally debt-free, including no mortgage debt, no car debt and no consumer debt. I cannot tell you how glorious that is. All those here who have financial goals like that: It's totally worth the effort!

A-Jock

There are more, but big one is to have divorce final before April.
Second would be to at least maintain current level of fitness and working outiness through other life changes.

Shelley, you started the thread but I didn't see if you shared any yourself?

Fun to read everyone's goals:) I hope ya'll are successful.

Fitness goals:
1. Put Eat to Live back into practice
2. Stay injury free by not pushing too hard
3. I achieved last years goal of doing 20 "boy" push-ups in a row. This year I want to get to 40.
4. I'd like to build even more strength. I won't bore you with the specifics.
5. I'd like to lose the layer of chub that is hiding the awesome muscles I've built in the last year:7 --really my husband and I can feel them in there, it's just I have this thang about food:9 :9.
6. Buy a treadmill.

Non-fitness goals:
1. Prayer and bible reading in the morning BEFORE all the kids wake up and distract me.
2. declutter the house--ruthlessly.
3. Finish redoing the living room and upstairs bathroom
4. Limit computer/sudoku puzzle time--major time-wasters for me,(and here I sit....;-) )
5. Get up earlier.

That's all I can think of for now

Maggie:)

Lots happened in 2006 that derailed me from good diet/exercise: I got a new job in a new city, bought my first house, broke up with my SO after a 4 yr relationship, got back together with him :), and now planning a wedding for 8/2007!
Goals:
1) Get control over food, rather than food controling me
2) Limit the amount of sugar/refined flour in my diet (almond bark covered pretzels anyone? mmm...)This has been so hard--I love to bake and am a true emotional eater.
3)Get back to saying everyday "what time should I workout today?" rather than "I wonder IF I should workout today". Goal: 6-8 hours per week
4)Complete a P90x rotation. Starting mid-January or February 1st. Anyone else want to join??
5) Not go crazy trying to plan the wedding!

Good luck to everyone!
Lisa

Health related goals:
1. Get control of my emotional eating so I can finally get off the last pounds of flab I want to lose
2. Do a P90x rotation without skipping any workouts starting Sunday. (I will be joining some of you over at the P90X part of the forum)
3. Once I am done with the P90X continue getting fitter by turning myself into a runner and doing Cathe weights
4. Add raw veggies to every meal except breakfast

Other Goals:
1. Stop allowing my lunch time at work or other times in my life to become gang up on the health freak time by allowing myself to get sucked into debates with people that are not really intrested in hearing what I have to say.(maybe come up with some responses when people pesk me about the way I eat that will kind of end the discusion without being mean or leaving anything for them to pick at?)
2. Pay off one of one of my Credit Cards (with going to school it will be impossible to pay them all off but it will feel good to pay one of them off)
