Getting started (again)

OK, I'm sure people ask all the time, but this is my turn. I'm 40, stressed out, and 20 pounds heavy. I have put about 15 on in the last year...change of lifestyle, more time driving and tending to kids, less time playing tennis and working out.(Divorce will do that!) Anyway, I'm looking for a video or two to get me moving and motivated. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

Hey Cyndra, sorry to hear about your "challenging" year. I guess before I can help you I need to know a couple of things. 1) Are you just beginning to workout? 2) do you have any exercise equiptment at home (i.e. a step, weights, etc.). Cathes tapes are pretty tough (NOT to detour you from getting her tapes, cuz theyre GREAT) I just dont want you going into it expecting an easy workout. You can modify her tapes to suit your needs. Also, most of her tapes require a step and/or weights. The only tape I can think of that doesnt use equiptment is Cardio Kicks (however, you must provide your own bucket of sweat!) which is a kickboxing-style tape and my favorite! Another great tape to start out with is Step Heat. It was my first Cathe tape and STILL one of my favorites. Hope this helps and good luck!! Judy....ps: I think being 40 GREAT! (Im not too far away at 37!)

Judy...
I don't a step yet. Willing to go buy one. I used to be in good shape, playing tennis 3 days a week, softball one night and working out in the gym 2 days a week. But all gone bye-bye in the last year. If not Cathe's tapes, what can you recommend that will help me shed fat... FAST! I need to get really focused and do this again. I lost 40 pounds 5 years ago...but hired a trainer at the gym. Can't afford that now.

Cyn, (Great name by the way) Everyone is so different and different people get motivated in different ways. What I mean is, some people do better by working out at home, others need to get out and go to the gym to get motivated. It sounds like you used to be pretty active but either outdoors or in the gym. Have you ever tried working out at home?? Do you think you'll like it?? Can you afford a gym or is that out of the question (I know you said you couldnt afford a Personal Trainer)?? There is a few great websites for home videos in all fitness levels. One is videofitness.com has reviews of videos etc. Another is collagevideo.com, I have their catalog and its great. Tons of all kinds of vdeos and all types and levels. As for the shedding fat FAST, there is no such thing! Unfortunately, Safe, effective fat loss takes time and lots and lots of hard work, you did it before, I have no doubt you will do it again! Judy
