Getting Our Licks In!

I took a rest day yesterday.:)

Regarding cold sores: I tend to get them when i'm really stressed, run down, or fighting a virus so i associate this with my immune system needing a boost. I haven't had one in a really long time although there was a period a couple of years ago where i kept getting them and it was a really stressful time for me. I also get them if i eat too much Cadbury Fruit & Nut chocolate. Not sure what that's about! I hate cold sores! You can't hide them and it's gross. Luckily i caught this one early and it's almost completely gone.

Shoegal:I read Memoirs of a Geisha years ago before the movie. I really liked it. Have you seen the movie yet? I'm in the middle of The Laughing Corpse which is book 2 in the Anita Blake Vampire Slayer series. I'm not loving it, but it's a pretty easy read.

Michelle: Have a great trip!

Janie: You are right! Decorating is a lot of work but it really gets you into the holiday spirit. If i was going away I probably wouldn't put up a tree either. Do you bake any special bread for Christmas?

Laura: Sorry about your post! That sucks!

Before I went to bed last night I did 35 min. of stair climbing. Today I plan on doing a cardio. Have to digest breakfast first of steal cut oats banana and 2 egg whites cooked in coconut oil. Yummy:p.

Michelle, Great job on the rainy walk with Ripken and LIS. What will you be doing in Camp Lejeune, NC? Saturday workout with you would be great! Which one? 70 degrees sounds like sooooooo much fun where you are. Do enjoy, I know you will.:)

Laura, This is, how many lost posts? I would report it to Cathe's staff somehow. How frustrating that is, I can feel your pain. I don't want you getting discouraged and not post very often because of this. I'm angry with you (I'm not angry with you LOL, somehow that doesn't read right) that this happens a lot to us. I've had posts that were very long and lost too. Very unhappy when this happens. Michelle, I don't care which one you pick for Saturday, I'll do it with you. LOL, but I had to do this one today.

Elle, Thank you for the info on cold sores. They are yucky and gross for sure. I use to eat Cadbury F&N was one of my favorites. But I'm allergic to it, it makes me gain lots of weight. LOL.:D Did you enjoy your rest day yesterday? What workout did you do today? I do bake, but not sure what to do this year yet. Something...I don't know yet. Congratulations for losing 18 pounds so far. Yeah!

Have a nice rest of the day everyone,

OMG! Cathe's DVD's arrived! I decided to do the premix Step Only for 36.30 min. OMG! Towards the better part of the end, I was modifying and just tried to keep moving. It is such a challenge for me! Love It! Something to work into. I burned calories on that one. Tonight I will also do some more stair climbing and tomorrow, don't know yet. Have to review them before I decide. The high reps looks really good to Joey, so maybe that one.

Michelle, no matter what Joey and I do the rest of the week, I'll do what ever one you pick. It will be fun.

Janie and Michelle...so which one? Let me know, perhaps I'll do it too!

Last night I did STS Total Body again. I like that one a lot, it works ya good! This morning (only 10 hours after STS TB) I did an easy step...Low Impact Step. Tomorrow I rest because I have a busy, busy day. My elementary chorus has their holiday performance! They have worked so hard, and yesterday in rehearsal, they were AMAZING! Good time to peak...right at performance time! :D

I did it! Little baby is now "Peppy", nuetered and living inside with the big cats. He got all his shots and is now learning how to live the life of a pampered pet. This makes cat #5. His parents still live outside but I will deal with them as time and money permits. He is such a sweet little boy, but still very scared and unsure of his new life. He does purr a lot, and he used the litter box so no worries there. Just so you know, I tried out lots of names on him. He is a tuxedo kitty and I didn't want to go with the common names like "oreo" or "domino". So, I finally settled on "Peppy" as in Peppy La Pew...the skunk on Bugs Bunny. He has a skunk tail, and Peppy is a little like Baby. It fit.

I am so glad tomorrow is my rest day. Today made day 7 and I was due a rest day. My body really needs it.

Oh, and I've lost posts too! Drives me nuts. But it doesn't happen too often. Not as often as it seems for Laura.

Shoegal, my tree is up and my house is decorated (kind of) on the inside. Hoping to put the lights on the outside this weekend. I made up my mind to enjoy this holiday no matter what! Relax and not stress out. Take everyday as a gift and enjoy it to the fullest. Yep, gotta go with the flow right now. I am so busy at school with programs its ridiculous. It used to really get me in a tithther. Not this year. But I think it also comes with good planning at work, and deligating things out to others. Life is good!

ok let me try this again! Last night I even wrote to repost and lost it AGAIN!! Now that was VERY frustrating!!:mad::mad: I am afraid it has to do more with my internet connection than the site...

Anyway quick recap of exercise since I have been back;
Monday: Intermediate Pilates & Ski Conditioning didn't do the snow shoe yet..had to unpack and get the house in order for the week..

Tuesday: Pilates & then threw in MMA: Boxing (no core) wanted more SC: Cardio Core Circuit (whew that's an AWESOME workout...why don't I do that one more???...to many Cathe workouts so little time in the day!!)

Today: short brisk walk with my mom @ her neighborhood, a hour long reformer class, my total tone class (phew great upper body workout) and then did the Hi Impact Hiit workout from Intensity (perfect cardio for a short little bit)

ahh Renee congratulations I love the name Peppey la Pew! What a cute addition to the family of kitties. Sounds like you really like TB STS!! Can't wait to do it this weekend

OMG How fun it is like Christmas came early this year isn't it!! I have done a little of HR and a little of Intensity and love them both!

I took a rest day yesterday.:)

yes rest days are so crucial to our progress! Sometimes it is almost hard to take them but then I remember they are all part of the plan and important for our bodies to rest and recover so we can get the results we want with fewer injuries and burn out!

Hi everyone. Well, now it's cold here in North Carolina. The wind blew big time yesterday but we did not get the hard rain and damaging winds that other parts of the east/northeast did. On the bright side: the sun is shining and it will get up to the 50s today--not too bad for December, but I think it is colder at home. Yesterday and this morning I did stretch max. My body sure is enjoying the nice long stretches and the recovery time after completing STS last week. AND, even though I have not previewed a single new Cathe workout yet, I'm thinking I will be doing Intensity on Saturday. Everyone has been chatting about it and I'll be ready to do a serious cardio by the time Saturday rolls around.

Had a full day of meetings yesterday and then did some work last night before going to dinner with all my colleagues. There are 14 of us here--a really good group of people--lots of fun, if you like to hang out with nerdy Ph.D. types. We have a big meeting later today with the General at the command we are visiting. Everyone has been warned to keep their presentations short and sweet or we could be in for a very long day. Our rep assigned to the command told us it is not uncommon for meetings like this to go until 8/9 pm.

Sister: so you went with a non-candy name for the kitten. Peppy is cute. I'm not sure where you found the time to get your Christmas tree and decorations up. I'm going to finish up mine this weekend.

Laura: so discouraging when you lose a post. I'm afraid when it happens to me, it IS because I've lost my internet connection for some bizarre reason. Sounds like you are enjoying the outdoor sports. Looks like it could be a very snowy year out west.

Elle: it's amazing how our bodies react to stress. I'm glad you've been able to step back and do what you need to do to take care of you. This time of year, life can be crazy. We all need to take a breather and just enjoy.

Okay--who are we missing? Shadowpup and Shoegal, I believe. Hope you guys have a chance to pop in soon. Ahh-did I mention, I'm missing my walkabouts with Ripken--those are really my time to relax and enjoy. Oh well, just today and half a day tomorrow, and then we will be heading back to the DC area.

Did HR with Joey today. As usaual he complained all the way through it. Well, when I turn 72 I'm sure I would complain too. We decided to do only two rounds of working all the body parts then abs at the end. Very proud of my Joey, just wish he keep his comments to himself. Will be walking Rolly in the fog later today. Haven't done that with Rolly yet, something new.

Renee
, Michelle has picked out Intensity on Saturday. Can't wait to hear our experiences. Great job on STS Total Body and LIS. I think that one for us will be this Monday. How exciting about the Chorus and the elementary holiday performance. I bet they will be awesome.;) I love the name Peppy! He's all done thinking about other females, got his shots and living inside. Congratulations, a job well done. Enjoy your rest day, you deserve it.

Laura, Your routine of exercises are amazing! Great job on those. Glad to see your Mom and you walking together. How lovely is that? I'm sure you will have found memories of it.

Michelle, I'm glad the weather in NC cooperated with you while you are there. I will take sunny 50's any day. LOL:). Glad to see you are doing stretches in your recovery week. I'm up for Intensity on Saturday, I think Renee is too. Sounds like you had successful meetings even though they were very long. I bet you are missing your walks with Ripken. I'm sure he is as well.

Take care everyone and have a great day.

I will be brief - I have been trying to get some major portion of my Christmas shopping done - well, to be blunt - it ain't happenin!

Ok - as for decorating - well, it isn't going well either. I have had some major set backs and miss the good old days when it took me and my Mom ONE day to decorate inside and out. Yes - ONE day. I'm amazed just typing it. Now - it takes me weeks and weeks and weeks - until I run out of time and then I'm still decorating post holidays.:eek::eek::eek: Yes - it is ridiculous - I won't argue with anyone but I also won't back down on the amount that I do either. So - I will resume my work this evening.

As for workouts - well, the same set back that destroyed my plans yesterday (and I won't go into it) prevented me from working out too. :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: (Did I tell you how angry I am about this?) On Tuesday though, I did the same premix as Janie - yes - the Intensity all step - 36 brutal minutes. I actually didn't have much time or I would have attempted the whole thing - but now I'm glad I didn't. It was hard - something to work toward for sure!!!

Hello to everyone!!!

I am so sore pretty much everywhere so I decided to take my rest day early! I just hope I can find sometime to sneak some cardio tomorrow! I have to help decorate the classroom tomorrow morning & then I have clients. Some friends want to get together for Happy Hour & music in Boulder tomorrow night. Saturday is a big event at the school called Winter Faire. Sunday we are breaking out our Christmas decorations & hopefully get a tree up as well!

Hello to everyone!!!

I have heard a lot about how hard the step portion of Intenisty is! I did the high impact HIIT part & it was good but doable and just the amount I was looking for. I have to admit I have lots of room for improvement for my form!!

Sorry about the set backs & hurdles!!

Thought I'd post a couple of pics your way to maybe enhance a smile. I know Christmas coming can be a stressful time.

Shoegal, (((((hugs))))) I'm sorry you are having a hard time.:(

Laura, Looks like you'll be busy decorating and having fun with friends. Enjoy.

Managed to put away the Thanksgiving items. I gave myself this small goal last night. All I had to do was to just pick up the boxes and get them out of the room and then to work out. I managed to get both done. I did STS Total Body-a Timesaver Premix - only doing 1 set of everything. It was really difficult to know what she was doing and to set up the space in the amount of time allotted - I ended up having to stop & rewind a couple of times but really liked the workout!! :D Tonight my goal is decorate one tree - I have this terrible mind block when it comes to decorating my pencil tree - but I think if I get this done - then it is all downhill from there. I hope I'm right.

Renee - Congratulations on Peppy!!! I saw a sign yesterday at the store and thought of you: it said something like - Cats are like potato chips - you can never have just one. ;) I believe that's true. I know this new kitten is going to be a source of joy. Have fun with those recitals - when everything comes together it can be just magical - what a great job that is!!

Janie - absolutely loved the pictures of Rolly - he looks great in his sweater and you're right - it put a smile on my face!! :) I can't believe Joey complained about HR - I enjoyed the heck out of it - maybe he just needs to get used to it. Good of him to try it though. I can't believe you are done shopping!!!

Elle - I wondered if you were feeling better??? I hope so - a rest day can be a good way sometimes to help recover a little bit. I'm jealous all of your decorating is done - now you can enjoy it which is the best part!!

Michelle - DH was in NC as well this week - he said it was cold too. Actually going out of town with a bunch of colleagues sounds kind of fun to me especially if everyone gets along. Tell me how you like Intensity on Saturday!

Ok - going to start my day. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

good golly I was soooo sore yesterday and even today my lower abs were cooked!!:eek::p:p:eek:

So today I got to squeeze in MMA:KB and worked up a good sweat! I swear that workout is as tough as you make it! I have done it so many times and been like that was a fun light workout and other times, when I watch how hard Cathe is working the moves and I really give it all, well that just makes it a different experience!

I wanted to do MMA:Boxing as well, but ran out of time between my clients, setting up the Christmas Store in the 4th Grade classroom and dinner with the family! Now I am waiting for my mom to come home to meet some friends at the fancy hotel downtown for music and dancing! The girls are watching Polar Express on the TV.

Janie:AHHH how cute is he! Rolly looks so proud in his sweater! I missed the post that Dh didn't like HR!

Shoegal: well the first step in getting ready for Christmas is putting away Thanksgiving so GOOD JOB!! And you got a workout in as well! How did the pencil tree turn out? I imagine myself having multiple trees for my different living spaces, but I wonder if it is really worth the effort!:p I am sure they are lovely when they are all up! Maybe I will add a small tree this year to our fireplace room, which is a beautiful orange color, sounds awful I know, but everyone says it is their favorite room. It is small and the lower half is this 100 + year old wainscott that we stripped down to the original wood the sheet rock is orange with a small leather coach and two old wing back chairs in a very deep, deep chocolate brown all the accents are gold, orange and brown..... I would love to have a 'victorian' themed tree in there with those colors...

Did the Wedding Video today. Nice and sweaty I was. LOL Walked Rolly on a trail for 30 min. He was in 7th heaven.

Shoegal, You have to remember that Joey is 72 years old. He's getting a little cranky. He only likes one DVD and it's TBS or two of The Firms. HR is so cool! I love every one of Cathe's DVD's, they are all awesome. It's just Joey. I'm going to have to work around him I'm afraid, so I can do the DVD's that I love. I don't want him to stop exercising so I'll let him have his way. Sorry I complained, I shouldn't have. I think I needed to vent.

Great job on STS time saver.

Enjoy decorating your pencil tree. Pictures please.:D

Laura, Great job on MMA Kick Boxing. Love that one. I too am having DOM's from HR. LOL:D Sounds like you all will be having such a lovely evening. Enjoy.

Joey is just getting set in his ways. He's 72 years old. Just wanted to vent. I'll work around the DVD's so I can do the ones I love. It will be OK.:)

Take care everyone,

Janie

Hi everyone. Yesterday was another long day, but I started it off with stretches 1 and 3 from StretchMax. I knew I was going to need that to get me through the 6 hour drive home. The trip went extremely well. And, it is amazing but everyone who was there got along great. Ripken and Joe were very happy to have me back home--both were wagging their tails greatly when I came through the door. LOL! Since I was gone for almost 4 days, Ripken feels he can pressure me for more walkabouts to make up for the lost time. He knows I'm so easy when it comes to taking him for a walk.

It is cold here and going to get colder. We are maybe going to get some snow flurries tonight.:p Did Intensity HIIT Hi this morning. What a great workout. I thought I was done with the HIIT Hi at then end of the step work--HA! There are so many prexmixes on this one dvd, I think I could use it for my cardio all this month. It was INTENSE and Ripken was intensely licking me when I was through, but what fun. The step portion actually reminded me a little of the step we did at Cathe's roadtrip. What do you think sister?

Shoegal: okay--take a deep breath and try to relax. I can see that you are already stressing over the holiday decorating. Just get one thing done and you will feel better. My next task is bringing the tree up from the basement. I think if I do that, I will be happy for the day. If I actually put it together--THAT will be a bonus.

Laura: Internet shopping. That's how I'm getting most of my Christmas shopping done. I will set half a day aside sometime in the next 2 weeks to go the Pentagon City Mall near my office, but I'm trying to get as much done as I can online.

Janie: I often wonder how I will feel about exercising when I am in my 60s and 70s. I'm hoping I can still hang with the program so to speak, but I know it won't be the same. I think it's great that Joey is stuck on Cathe's TBS. If it works for him, that is all that matters. Love the pictures of Rolly. Looks like your snow has melted. Wonder how much Shadowpup has in Idaho.

Elle: hope you enjoyed your break day. Bet it is cold up in Canada. Snow where you are yet?

Sister: how did intensity go? Sorry I was huffing and puffing when you called. That sure was fun.

Okay--time to go get the Christmas tree out of storage. Hokies play in the ACC football championship tonight 7:30 pm ET. GO HOKIES!
~michelle

One week down, 2 more to go and then school is out for two weeks! Hip Hip Hooray! This is one of my busiest times of the year. My Chorus concert went great, received a lot of compliments on this being the best ever. I think it had a lot to do with music selection, and those kids REALLY want to sing and perform. So, I was able to get A LOT out of them.

I don't know if its a delay to finishing STS, or the "busy" time of year or a combination. But, I took two rest days in a row! Thursday and Friday were both rest days for me. I intended to do Intensity yesterday but opted for timesaver cardio from BodyMax 2. I was feeling the affect of leg holds, and kicking drills in my thighs and glutes and couldn't muster up the 'intensity' for Intensity. I still got a good workout in! I love BodyMax 2 cardio portion.

My little Peppy is s-l-o-w-ly fitting into my cat family. The big cats are not thrilled with his arrival and Tiki is definately bent out of shape. He has been the baby for a year and half and now, well, he's not. I go out of my way and pet, play and spend time with Tiki, but I've got to get Peppy used to the life luxery. Peppy still runs and hides from me on occassion. Drives me nuts, but I know it will take time. He did chase BIG Reese down the hall, so at least I know he can hold his own.

Contemplating my "cathe" of the day. Have no clue of what to do. I still haven't done the new Lower Body dvd. But I am a bit sore from yesterdays Karate class. I am sure I will find the right thing that will fit the bill.

Love the pictures of Rolly. I need to take the time and figure out how to post pics on here, and show off my babies.

We got a little snow yesterday/last night. Just enough to coat the ground and make it look pretty, but not enough to make the world stop. In Virginia that is a pretty easy thing to do, so I won't be too surprised if there are church cancellations.

Hope everyone is doing well!

~Renee~

Today was a break day and I have enjoyed it. Very cold outside and it is supposed to get colder this week for a few days. Ick. I'm not a fan of super cold weather which for me means anything below freezing. I think tomorrow it is not supposed to get out of the 30s for the high. Double-ick.

I did manage to get my internet Christmas shopping done today and I put the Christmas tree up. Haven't decorated it yet, but it is up. Need to get some replacement light bulbs and hopefully I can find those at Lowes. I have a bunch of replacement lightbulbs for my outside lights but nothing for the tree. Fortunately, one burnt out bulb does not cause the whole thing or a section to go out.

Looking forward to a busy week at work. We don't have "holiday" driven activities at work--it's just plan ol' busy. Lots to do which is good. Hope everyone has had a safe, happy, and relaxing weekend.
