I'm back.
Amplify Your Strength doesn't use any equipment as the resistance is 'you'. Of course I am of the persuasion that you can get a great workout (especially legs) without weights...think Cathe with those scissors and lunges with no equipment...feel your legs burning yet? LOL. I am big on Classical Stretch and Functional Fitness. So this DVD is right up my alley.
Kimberly uses yoga (some very interesting planks)/lunges,balance moves that flows so perfectly. I also loved the stretches. Her instruction is very easy to follow (must be because I found myself doing an airplane and I have a broken right toe. ;-))and I could do everything without having to replay. There are some tabletop moves that you balance on one arm that really works the core. One should be careful to have their hand placement correct as it could hurt your wrists.
I don't believe this will take the place of the heavy weight work that some of us do, but I believe this workout (or type or workout)has a place in our routines. A sentence on the back cover says: "Tap into the strength within you as you challenge yourself with a Mind/Body Bootcamp Adventure that is sure to spice up your exercise routine!"
Outside of the blue doors on the set, that I am getting quite a collecion of, ;-)
I love this DVD. The music is great. I always like Kimberly's choice in music. I worked up a good sweat by following Kimberly's wide moves and deep lunges. Since I rate my workouts (weights and aerobic) by how many paper towels I have to use,(I know...weird), I rate this one a 2 toweler. LOL By comparison, Cathe's Imax III is a 4. So, this is good considering this is workout is not really aerobic.
I will do this workout often. I give it a thumbs up because I love this type of workout.
Edited to add a parenthesis.
