How much fruit do you eat? It is definately a staple in my diet, but I am starting to wonder if it the cause of those last few pounds that wont budge. I probably have at least 6 servings of fruit a day, and just as many servings of vegetables. Has anyone had to cut back on their fruit to drop some weight???

I do when I want to get really lean. All fruits are high in carbs and sugar and this keeps the body more "smooth" then cut.

I don't necessarily think cutting fruit will help you drop weight/pounds, but cutting it down will help you tighten up and lose some body fat.

well atleast your not getting the sugar from processed foods. but I guess you can overdue anything..? I'm trying to eat more fruit. I buy ALOT but my kids eat it up. I have to be fast to get some haha. Now they leave the vegis to me but I have to make them eat those. :p

I only eat about 2 or 3 servings of fruit a day, so no I don't typically cut back to lose weight, but 6 might be a bit much. Some fruits do have more calories then others. Also, when you say 6 servings of fruit are you taking into account a true serving? For example a typical bannana is considered 1.5 to 2 servings and so on. You may already be taking that into account, but I'm pointing it out just in case.

Also while many vegetables have a low calorie density, thing like beans and corn are much higher.

I try to keep it to 1/2 to 1 cup a day or less. Too much and I get chubby and furry (PCO facial hair) so I try to avoid it. Although, I had a bite of watermelon after my workout this morning and it was soooo good!

LOL! Tweezing is becoming a hobby for me, although I am not PCO, just getting to that age.

Yeah, I pretty much limit my fruit, which is hard during the summer...peaches, melons...yummmmm. I too only eat 1/2- 1 cup and keep it to low-glycemic berries. I rarely have a banana, and if I do it's between two workouts, or if for some reason I think I am not going to make it through a round of STS without it. Fuel or consolation? Not sure, lol!:D

I am a HUGE fruit eater...and it only gets worse during the summer. I agree with Debbie...I have a hard time leaning out if I'm eating too much fruit. Right now I am only eating 3-4 servings a day, but can easily eat like 6-8:eek: The summer fruits just taste so darn good!!

It depends on the season: in the summer, I eat a lot of fruit (the hotter and more humid it is, the more fruit I tend to eat). In the winter, quite a bit less (probably one apple a day plus the fruit that is in my morning green smoothie).

Fruit has a lot going for it: phytonutrients, high ORAC levels (antioxidants), vitamins, but if you are concerned about eating too much, stick with the lower glycemic fruits, like berries.

Doesn't that suck? I love fruit so much but try not to eat too much because I hate looking fluffy. I can eat banana's all day long.

Oh did I fail to mention the carrot cake I had the other night????To be fair it was our wedding anniversary. I think most of my problem is the amount that I workout, I am a PT and a group fitness instructor so between my own training, demonstrating moves to clients and teaching classes - the only thing my body wants is carbs for energy. I really try and keep my diet "clean" but I think I tend to over do the carbs.

I read an article about carb cycling (one day no carb, one low, one high) to keep your metabolism guessing and keep the fat burning. I am tempted to try, but what would I eat on a no carb day, meat and cottage cheese? I am not sure I could handle not having any carbs for a whole day. (gee sounds like I am addicted huh)....

I found if I eat the fruits in the morning (after excersize) they don't affect my weight. I do however have to watch for the quantity, as I love fruits and indulge too much sometime:p
