Good morning!
My ankle is better, but still not 100%. I also strained both of my hip flexors two weeks ago and both are still bothering me tremendously. I feel like i'm starting to fall apart! I know I just took one not that long ago, but after Saturday's race i'm taking another rest week. I feel like I need it.
Despite my ankle, I did work out this weekend (modified, of course). Saturday I went to Crossfit for a partner workout with only 1 person working at at time. After the warmup, we did 5 rounds of the following: 400 meter run (all) 180 jump ropes, 60 power cleans, and 45 box jumps. I couldn't run because of my ankle, so I used the rowing machine. Also, because it was a partner workout (well, actually we were in groups of 3), we all did the run (or row) but divided up everything else. For example, we all had a jump ropes in our hands. I would start jumping and when I got tired or messed up the second person would immediately start jumping and then when she got tired or messed up the third person started jumping. We kept alternating like that until we got to 180 jumps (total between the 3 of us). We used the same basic technique for the power cleans and box jumps for all five rounds. I also modified the box jumps with step ups.
Yesterday I decided to do Total Body Trisets: Upper Body. I was very pleased with my performance. I did not miss any reps, and sometimes I went slightly heavier than Cathe and sometimes I went slightly lighter than Cathe.
Tonight i'm going to try Crossfit again. I'm sure i'll be modifying like crazy again, but that's okay. I want my ankle to heal properly (and QUICKLY).
Wendy: Look at you doing double ZShred workouts!!! Impressive! I love your new shoes. And what a good price! I may buy me a pair now. Do you mind I copy your look?
I just bought new shoes maybe 6 months ago but after the ankle-rolling fiasco I don't want to wear them anymore. I know, it's all in my head.
Thanks for explaining your workout lingo. I thought I had it all figured out, but was confusing the heck out of myself.
I LOVE the idea of wearing lifting gloves during an obstacle race. Makes complete sense, actually. My lifting gloves are almost worn out, so I will likely wear them Saturday and then go buy new ones. I love an excuse to buy more workout gear.
Wiggie: Wow. Your workouts this weekend were amazing. How do you do all that in one day?!?! YOU are amazing! I LOL at your buying another workout system. At least it's a healthy addiction.
Is there such a thing as an "exercise anonymous" group? We could all probably all attend with you!
I keep hoping my ankle will be better by Saturday. If i'm still feeling it a bit i'm going to wear a brace during the race.
