Form pointers for stability ball

Hi Cathe,

I have had to take some time off from working out due to an injury I sustained while doing those new pikes on the stability ball. Silly me attempted it without building up to it! So, I fell off & gave myself a good sore back. I consider myself to be an advanced exerciser, I got cocky & just went for it. I know, not a smart move.

I'm starting to feel better now & want to learn to do them properly. So my question is can you give us some form pointers on how to work our way up to being able to do that stuff?

As sort of a PS, I'll be coming down to take a Body Pump class with you on Monday, February 3rd. I can't wait to meet you!!! I'll be the silly star-struck woman with Francine. That class will be my first weighted workout since falling off my stability ball 3 weeks ago, so go easy on me, ok? LOL

Thanks so much!

Hi Cathe! Missed seeing you yesterday! Talk about not meant to be taking your class yesterday, for the am class, I was over my inlaws for a superbowl party came home about 1030 and I got on my laptop and was on the forum til 1230 am about maybe later-way past my bedtime! So the combination of staying up late, eating late and OH my my new satin sheets--I was in lala land--I hit the alarm on" off" at 7 not snooze and my lil girl(natasha )woke me up at 9 for a walk! I jumped up soo fast! But nothing I could do it takes me atleast 15 mins to get there , don't want to go in late-just not meant to be, that's all! I was meant to sleep in! (so I thought) then for my second attempt for your Bodypump class, I decided to run a few errands beforehand--well bad choice of errands to be in Voorhees(my bank citizen is there), then picked up 2 blinds at Target right next door, then picked up a coat from Wilson's at the echelon Mall(all routed perfectly) I get to Wilsons and they were holding the wrong style coat for me-they sold the other one by accident I found out---they had to give me credit slip--AAAGGGHHH now it was runing at 410 I get into my car gym heading to Glassboro and by the time I got to delsea dr it was already 4:35 I still had 10 mins to get there so I came home instead and did my bodypump tape--not the same- but it just wasn't meant to be-unreal:-(
Deborah you take it easy on that ball, we are running out of excuses not to see cathe;) j/k Don't try anything crazy til after Bodypump monday:+
Cathe looking forward to our punishment on Monday, give us h}( ll

Hi Francine! I had a feeling that the Superbowl may have interfered with your workout plans. Many came to class sluggish from the carb overload. Maybe we will see you next Monday:)

Take Care!
Cathe

Hi Deborah~

Oh how exciting it will be to meet you (and see Francine again) on Monday, Feb 3rd. Looking forward to it.

Sorry to hear about your back. Yes, those balls do require a little practice. I would work on the ball separately, outside of the workout, doing any of the exercises that you can do comfortably, but at a much slower pace. This way you won't feel any pressure to keep up at our pace. Also, if I am not mistaken I think I do a modified bent knee pike version on the ball just before I do the fully extended pike into the air. I suggest mastering the bent knee version before you attempt the fully extended pike.

Good Luck and see you soon!

Thanks Cathe! But you know what? I'll have to put the tape back in & watch the beginning of the stability ball work! I just jumped on the ball & went for it--I know dumb, dumb, dumb, so I missed the modified version of the pike!

Thank you again! See you Monday!

Deborah,

You can buy plinths for the stability ball at sports places. Might make it easier until you get used to the ball ?
