For the twenty-somethings....

I was doing the cardio from Step, Pump & Jump today and wondered if anyone under 30 understood the reference, "Wax on, wax off"?

And for those over 30...how many times did you watch that movie when you were a kid?

Barely in my 20s.. does that count?

I am 29, and yes I know and understood where wax on wax off came from! I watched that movie at least 10 times. I think the only thing that I watched more was Top Gun!

ok...this is going to make me sound reeeeeeaaaaaaalllllllly young...i'm 23 (24 next month!) and while i don't think i've seen the original reference..i remember michealangelo saying it in one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies from when i was younger. :)

ya know Donna, people tell me that all the time! i wear mu-mus, i'm addicted to metholatum, my purse is gi-normous......it helps that i'm a movie freak;)

karate kid? hmmm...i don't remember that move too well. but thinking about it i guess i do kinda remember that part. not my favorite movies..hence the remembering of ninja turtles >.< and i've since had that theme song stuck in my head! lol

I used to secretly be in love with Ralph Macchio (but dont tell Michael J. Fox or Kirk Cameron)! I recently watched Karate Kid (again) and thought "wow he IS scrawny! What did I ever see in you??"

;)

In love with Ralph Macchio? Wow! He always struck me as a geek. I was more a John Travolta fan. Actually, by the time Karate Kid came out, I might have been in love with Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth. But now when I see David Lee Roth, I'm like...."Dude! Your nose is as big as a buick!" And his personality...please! He's a real jerk.

Donna,

OMG!!! "Memories at the corners of my mind"...LOL

I am 34 and I loved Karate kid and I had a huge crush on Ralph Macchio...Remember Teen Beat Magazine??? Or how about
The Outsiders..what a bunch of hotties...

Now when I watch Karate kid old Ralph looks pretty tiny...LOL

I am a huge movie person..I love doing movie lines..Everyone at works thinks I am crazy.. and weird to watch so much TV and exercise so much..LOLOLOL

Great post!!!

:) ;-) :9 :p :7 :+ :*

I'm right there with ya on Ralph Macchio! I'm ashamed to say that I must have watched The Outsiders over 100 times, and he was my favorite! (What was I thinking, in comparison to Patrick Swayze and Rob Lowe???) Anyway, since I teach 9th graders, I get to relive The Outsiders year after year!!!

I thought Elisabeth Shue was the luckiest girl in the world in Karate Kid!

Fun post!

You know who I think is the luckiest girl in the world right now? The girl in Pirates of the Caribbean who kissed Orlando Bloom. He is such a hot little thing! I was all smitten with him in LOTR!

But, about Ralphi Macchio: I never saw the appeal. I saw Karate Kid a couple of times, but it didn't do a whole lot for me. I see Ralph now and I am even more dumbfounded about why he was such a sex symbol. Did anyone else ever notice how he always used to "walk on his toes"? When he steps, he doesn't really walk using his heel...he bounces up on his toes to walk. That always drove me nuts.

Edited to add: I'm 35....yes, 35 and ga-ga over Orlando Bloom. :*

Yup I remember it! Karate Kid. It is too funny how references from the 80's are still around, and how a whole new younger generation will never get them.

I've watched the movie more times than I care to mention, probably 20 times. I wish I were kidding. My little brother loved all 3 movies, but particularly the first one.

BTW, I'm 29 and in love with Orlando Bloom as well. However yesterday my image of him was changed. I watched him in Troy, which I thought was a good movie. His character was a coward and really deserved to die. Now I'll have to watch LOTR again to redeem him. He is a cutie though.

Stacy, if you were in love w/Ralph Macchio you must've been gaga over Scott Baio. After all, Ralph was merely a pale shadow of Scott.......

Of course neither could compare to the Cassidy brothers..........and I'm w/Donna, Travolta was definitely the heart throb of the 70s. In fact, I still see every movie he makes. I'd pay $10 to watch the guy read the newspaper for 2 hours.

Orlando Bloom is beautiful! But it drives me nuts to see him all pouty for the teen magazines! I know, I know...that's how they get all famouse and everything...but he was just so COOL is Lord of the Rings!

I'm really a fan of Tom Welling too. That man is just perfection!

I loved The Outsiders, as well. Except I've never been much of a Emilio Estevez fan. Love the Robert Browning poem, "Stay Gold".
