Hello, FitnessFreak....you help so many, I am hoping you can give me some advice. I had baby # 2 approx. 18 months ago. Have managed to lose almost 30#, but still need to drop at least 15 more #'s. My problems: no motivation, and havn't lifted weights regularly since before the baby! Before I found out I was pregnant, I was in the best shape of my life....lifted regularly and cardio capacity was at the top of my game! Now, I just feel blah all the time. Where do I start? I know I need to get going, especially with STS being released soon. Where should I re-start? I have access to a gym and at home I have most of Cathe's dvd's,free weights, treadmill and spin bike. My favorite cardio right now is spin classes which I get to 2x per week. I hate kickboxing, though! Need to get into a lifting regimen...but where to start? Any advice you can give is greatly apprecaited! ALSO.....I hate to ask this, since I know you already give so much to others, how do I know how many calories I should be eating to lose weight? Right now, I am 5'7" and 160#....feel my best @ 145-150#, also am 38 years old and no health problems or allergies of any type. thanks so much ANd happy holidays to you and your family.

It's so easy to fall into the slump of not working out when you take breaks. I just had a week off from working out and it was SO HARD to make myself get back into my workout room and workout this morning. But I did it and I feel so much better.

You just need to set up a schedule and follow it. Start with maybe 4 days a week doing some total body workouts and cardio. The best motivation is seeing results so when you start seeing results you will automatically kick it up more. Just start out slowly, and even though it's hard to get started, make yourself get started. Schedule it like you would a doctors appointment and then just do it.

Maybe follow something like this:

Monday: Total body
Wednesday: Cardio
Friday: Total Body
Saturday: Cardio

Then go from there and work your way to 5 and then 6 days a week or however it was you were working out before. I'm telling you - with results comes motivation.

Get your head on right, make the decision and get started.

Good luck to you! :)

I'm having a hard time with motivation myself. I'm 5'7 also and weighed 158 lbs. yesterday morning. About 2 weeks ago I was 151 lbs. Damn Thanksgiving lol. I really have feel off with my working out too. I plan to get back into it. I did an hour and 15 min. long workout today (upper body, short lower body floorwork, abs, and about 15-20 mins cardio). I feel better after I got this done buts also feel discouraged because it was a relatively wimpy workout compared to my usual.

I'm basically just responding to say hang in there! You're not alone. I gotta get my butt back into the swing of things as well lol.

You are definitely NOT alone! I have been in a slump for months. It seems like every time I try to get back into the swing of things more appointments (mostly vet related for my cats that started the slump) pop up and screw up my exercise time. Currently working on 4DS, but it's taking more than 4 days to get through it! Once I finish this round - just one more day to go, I'm starting it over!

Keep trying - you'll get there!!

Hi Sherry and Lauren!

Add me to the list...I have been following Debbies rotations for about 6 months and have seen the best results EVER!! I also have a young baby (22 mnths) and feel that I look better now than before I became pregnant. Over the holiday (really for the two weeks prior ) I really binged and had a hard time stopping and getting back into the swing of things. I find that when I check in regularly with other fitness-minded people, I can stick to my regimen much better.

So....I said all that to say, (1)if you're not checking in on the Check -In forum, give it a shot. Also, (2) try tracking what you eat if you don't already. I use http://caloriecount.about.com/ to see how many calories I am taking in and how they break down.

Debbie is right, first you have to get your mind back into it. Once the results start to show, you'll want to work out twice a day;)

Good luck...you can do it!
