Foods that leave a yucky taste in your mouth

L Sass

I HATE it when I eat foods and they leave a yucky taste in my mouth that no amount of toothpaste or mouthwash will get rid of. I know you all are going to think I'm nuts, but pasta with red sauce is one such food - perhaps the reason I've never liked it (Please don't turn this into a hate thread because I don't like pasta).

A few others:

Doritos (and "puke breath" on top of it!)
Potato chips
potato salad

What foods, if any, do it for you?

Lorrie

LSass...I just refer to that as "Chip Breath". I don't eat chips of any sort but my H's family apparently believes chips are a food group so every family gathering means bags and bags of chips laying around. I can't stand having to talk to any of them with their chip breath!

Forgot to add that fish does it for me. Whenever I eat fish I have to brush my teeth soon after because I feel like I have 'fish breath' and how disgusting is that for people talking to me!

Indian food--I can't stand the smell of it! Whenever I've been to an Indian restaurant it has taken days to get that smell out of my nostrils. I don't care what you order, it's all the same--slimy and greasy, floating in a pool of butter. All I can eat is Nan and the little, candy coated fennel seeds.

My first thought was Doritos!! I can't stand to eat them. They leave a icky taste that lasts for hours. Your comment on potato salad is funny!! I never noticed that one!!

Hmmmm I avoid soda, or pop as you may call it because after drinking it I feel like I have sweaters on my teeth! I only sport the sweaters for an occasional grape soda or rootbeer (Saranac Rootbeer is simply the best).

Diet colas and seltzer! I HATE the after-taste of diet pepsi, diet coke and seltzer. x( x( x( I can handle clear diet sodas like 7-up, ginger ale, etc but that's it. On the occasion that I have a soda (roughly once a week), I go for the REAL DEAL if I'm drinking a cola. For some things there is just no substitute!:9

As far as foods go...I can't think of any off the top of my head...

I have to say the top on my list is grapefruit. I have started to eat one every day w/ my breakfast. I just keep thinking "just get it down then you can go brush". LOL

YUMMMY! I actually LOVE raw hot dogs!:9 }( :9 Okay okay...everyone can say EEEEEWWWWW now...I completely expect it!:p

Wendy, when I was little, I loved cold, raw hot dogs:)

And I agree about the aftertaste of diet soda. Also, Aspartame gives me migraines, so I avoid it like the plague.

Anything with raw garlic. I can't get that garlic taste out of my mouth forEVER. NO matter how many times I brush.

And I love chips, but I hate that greasy, awful feeling in your mouth after eating them.

The thick, greasy white icing that is an inch thick on store-bakery made cakes. I love it, but feel like my teeth are coated with Crisco after the indulgence.

I used to love cold raw hotdogs as a kid too, until one night I ate like 3 of them and threw up all night.

I would have to say salsa. I LOVE salsa, but HATE the way the garlic and onion makes my mouth taste for the rest of the day. I try to avoid eating all the onion chunks, but there is no getting away from the garlic.

Sorry. I could have been more specific since it's a part of the above mentioned never to be mentioned again thing. This thread is making me hungry. I love Dorito though I do not eata them amy longer and raw, yes, yes, yes! It allows for time alone, don't you know that? Bean burritos, I want one now! But I settled for whole grain toast with carrots, raisins and walnuts and organic peanut butter. I'm going back in to root out more organic and complex carbed wonders but I'll be fantsizing about all the junk food I don't eat any more. Is there a drooling smilie to express that?
