Fitness equipment you can't live without

Cathlete
If someone were to ever take my dumbbell's from me, I would cry. I love them so much. They are my most cherished piece of fitness equipment. Coming in at a close second, would be my step. It is so versatile, simple, and gives me a wonderful cardio workout without going on a treadmill or elliptical. Those are my two partner's in crime.

Which fitness equipment can't you live without?
(besides Cathe DVD's, that's a given)

I agree about the dumbbells, but I would have to put my treadmill up there with the dumbbells. It allows me to run every single day.... rain or shine, cold or hot. Don't know what I'd do without it!!

Dumbbells and Cathe DVDs are givens.... Absolutely can not do without them.. it goes without saying...

soooo..

other than those 2 basics..... the one thing that I am most happy about having purchased is my Troy Lite barbell set..... love love love it !!!

I've got my "essentials" and my "accessories that really help."
Essential would be weights (dumbbells & barbell), step, shoes, and a wide sweatband!
Accessories--well that's another story. I LOVE my accessories. I guess I could do without, but I really wouldn't want to. They are things I've added over the years (usually as Cathe has), that have now become almost essential.

Almost-Essential Accessories:
High Step
bands (including firewalker)
stability ball
Ironwear 2lb weighted gloves (fabulous!)

Nice-to-have Accessories:
Turbo Tower
Wavemaster
Cathe micro-load gloves
Versa Gripps
kettlebells

So-glad-I-got Equipment:
SPIN BIKE!!!!!!:D:eek:

All of my stuff at this point cause I workout on my own rotation involving all the stuff I own. So, I purchased most everything in the past 6 years including a spin bike and turbo-barre.

My iPod for sure. I take it with me any time I travel to enable me to keep up with at least some workouts. Not to mention that it accompanies me on my treadmill and elliptical on those days at home. :)

My step, dumbells, barbell are my staples.

My very favorite is my HRM, though I suspect it's been giving me artificially high calorie consumption during my workouts as of late. :(

Check to make sure that its still on your body's settings. Also, you can wash the band with a little soap/water. Gunk on their can mess it up.

Well since I've been a Body Rockin' fool lately it's definitely got to be my jump rope, dip station, ugi ball, and sandbag right now but once I start the LIS/STS rotation in February that will change to my step, weights (db's and bb), gliding discs, bands and turbo tower! :D

I love having hand weights - of course. I love my medicine ball and stability ball as well.
Anyone have a bosu?

I have a bosu but I never enjoyed it very much. I used it for a while TRYING to enjoy it but rather quickly ended up in my spare room collecting dust and has been there atleast a year or so now. :( Perhaps I need to try again some day before I toss it...

That's just me though. Lots of people really like them!

Other than the obvious: Cathe videos and dumbbells...

My stepper! When I was a teenager and living at home, I asked my dad to buy me a stepper. It was $50 (a ton of money to me!) and my dad asked if I was really going to use it since I had never exercised a day in my life before and my mom was well-known for buying equipment and never using it. I swore I would and he bought it for me. I have used it multiple times a week for the past 2 decades and still love it to this day.

Even though it is neon pink and purple and smaller than the new club steps, it works and looks brand new since it is so sturdy. To this day I show it to my dad when he visits and he jokes that he isn't sure he got his money's worth. Since they didn't make risers for this step, I have had to rig up my own risers that have held up for the past 15 years. And when I bought Cathe videos I had to rig a high step.

I could just buy a new one, but I really like this sturdy one that locks into place rather than sets on top of risers. I can pick the whole unit up and it is one unit (not a topper and risers).

Gobias: How cool to have such a near-and-dear-to-your-heart piece of workout equipment.

Mini-natti: Thanks for the fun question!

As for the Bosu, I have one and tried Rob Glicks Bosu Step on it... it was really fun but I noticed that, after a few times, it really started to bother my knees... my guess was that I wasn't as stable on it as I should have been.
Now I use it to strech my calves on, but that's about it - a regular stability ball works for the exercises I do.
