Finally! Surewest has this great deal--Basic phone, basic digital cable and high speed internet for $80.00 (I am adding HBO for $14.00 extra). If you live in the Sacarmento area, and you have wanted all this for the great price, you gotta call. I have had slow speed forever and I am soooo frustated. Welcome to the 21st century for me Yeah!!!

You guys wouldn't know me if I did not have high speed internet. No, really.

No patience. ;-)

I can't believe you have stuck it out this long, lol. You will LOVE it!!

Yeah, Comcast internet is $50.00 a month if you have their cable. Their selling point is that one does not have to sign a contract. Big deal, I can sign a contract for a year for that great price.

Just make sure you use all the goodies like the firewall, the virus protection and spyware detection/removal software. With the "always on the 'net" higher speed connections, whenever your computer is on it's vulnerable

Lucky you! I live out in the boonies of Iowa and can't get anything but dial up,i'm lucky to get 28.8Kbps,sometimes I feel like throwing a sleeping bag on the floor to take a nap while I wait. I envy you, have fun Karen

We are looking at highspeed right now too. I can't wait. I HATE waiting for things to load up. I will definately be on here more when I have high speed.

And redwitch.....28.8Kbps....you must go CRAZY!! I connect at 52 Kbps and I think that is slow. You must have patience as big as the ocean! LOL :)

OMIGOD Tallchick!!! My high-speed connection goes down for a few hours and my DH is peeling me off the walls. How do you stand it???? What in the world do you do during PMS?????

I feel your pain!!!I'm in the boonies too and we just recently got DSL. And here I thought we were about the last place on earth to only have dial up! I thought it would never get here. Yours will come too. Now if I could only get cell phone reception I might feel like I'm living in this century.

TallChick,

When DH and I moved overseas it actually ended up not being much more for us to use the ADSL because the dial up ended up being charged per minute. So we took the plunge and it is really great! We are moving back to the states soon and it will be tough if we go back to dial up after using this :)! Enjoy!

Cath :)

I don't know how I have done it. My husband didn't want to pay the extra $20.00 but how he needs all the extra sports channels on cable! He will see what he missed.

Ah Phyllis, agreed. I cannot wait. Well, I have to wait until the 10th. I have to dump my Earthlink on the 6th so I will be without Internet for a few days. HELP. I guess some internet is better than none, but then again, the high speed will be worth the wait.

I'm a newbie to the high speed super highway too! I just got DSL a couple of months ago. I held out for so long because I couldn't justify paying $40 a month for a high speed connection. I'm glad I waited, because through my phone company I got a great deal and connected for just $14 a month. Unfortunately, now I'm spending a lot more time on the internet and less time doing important things, like cleaning the house!
