Filming boo-boos or what were they thinking?

I did PowerMax yesterday for the first time in a very long time (I've mostly been doing the newer series). I absolutely loved the intensity but the filming was bizarre. What's with the camera angles having everyone suddenly at a 45 degree angle? This made the workout a little dizzy for me as I have a head cold and wasn't sure if they were right side up or I was. They used this crazy camera angle at different points throughout the workout and at one point it looks like they started to drop the camera and caught it.

What filming boo-boos have you noticed? Any favorites? I like the one where Cathe miscues as it makes me realize she is human and not the duracell rabbit as she keeps going, and going (and I get tireder and tireder).

In Step Heat, there's one girl that's there for the warm-up and takes off for the workout! I think it's funny cause that's what I'd like to do too. :+

I also like these because they let me know how far I am through the workout if I sometimes lose count, lol!
In Lomax I've noticed that you do 4 more "tap and kick" moves on the second side of blast #7 than you do on the first side. I never really know whether I should add 4 more to the other side or cut out 4 from the final side, so I usually just do as is:p

I think it's the StepBlast stretch (Fast Car is the song), we stretch the hams two ways on one side but just one on the other, there's an obvious edit in there and it always makes me wonder what happened to stop the cameras, did someone tip over:+

Kathleen that is so funny you mentioned Step Heat and that girl that appears and disappears and then reappears again. I just did that one for the first time yesterday and after the warmup I knew something was off but couldn't really put my finger on it until it came time for the cool down. The girl reappeared for the cool down?!?! Very strange :D . The only thing I kept asking myself the whole time I was cooling down was...why not just leave her out entirely??? Again it's quite ironic that I read your thread as I was quite perplexed by that yesterday during my workout :7 :7 .

I don't think the camera angles are a snafu but totally intentional; many video instructors used to use the "artsy" angles quite freely. I sometimes think this was in the early days of the industry when they were taking far too much advice from camera people who never had to actually use the workouts. Thankfully Cathe must have realized these are just annoying! Some instructors still do this, UGH!

Laurie, I'm LOL at your post. That is funny; did someone tip over? I've noticed the bit you're talking about, but if you watch the tv while you're doing the stretch, you'll see that she does point her toe, but doesn't actually tell you to do it. Hold the first stretch for 4 counts, then point your toe for another 4 counts.

I notice boo-boos all the time, but of course can't think of them right now. I've noticed the difference in the amount of tap-kicks she does in LM interval 7, and do find it a bit annoying. I usually do them anyway :)

In CW, during the third cardio segment, Cathe cues us to do a leg back, instead of a shuffle-shuffle.

There's one in C&W where Cathe starts to say one move, then switches and says another. She starts to say "step extension" early, when the move is something else.

In RS, on my version anyway, there are some obvious dubs where what Cathe is saying, doesn't match her lips. I can't figure out why they don't edit out these flubs.

I did BodyMax step and circuits this morning and it reminded me of another boo-boo. During the cardio of one circuit we're doing 'side up around the corner' and Cathe says, "I'm feeling this real good", we do the exact same choreography on the other side and all of a sudden she says "fooled you on the last one" then the tape repeats and again Cathe says "I'm feeling this real good". I always wonder what happened there....I think it would be fun to have some of the bloopers tagged on to the end of workouts:)

There are mistakes in many videos, but nothing can be worse than Billy Blanks in Tae Bo. I am an old time Tae Boer and don't get me wrong...I love Billy...but he is a TERRIBLE cuer. One of the all time worst. And uneven sets and/or sets only done on one side are the rule, rather than the exception. Oh well...I've still had great success with his workouts! :)

Billy Blanks- Lots of endless zombie counting and he still gets the reps wrong lol

In cathes Low Max she says turn then 2 knee repeater in one of the combos eventhough its the knee repeater first. She's excellent compared to the others.

Stephanie Huccklebee in the workout called Ultimate calorie blaster. She uses her wrong left and right sides in some of the workout. That will take a while to learn due to horrible cuing.

I just did Step Jump Pum last night and two things always make me laugh.

There's one part in the hi-lo where Cathe and Cede almost collide in the sashay to the side, then in another part Brenda goes the wrong way on the grapevine (after kick forward and kick back) EVERY time!

By the way, when I feel like the workout is becoming routine I try and watch the other team members instead of Cathe.

Hi Kathleen and Deni, I just read this and remember reading somewhere on here that the reason that girl only does the warm-up and cool-down on Step Heat was because she was pregnant. I guess her doctor wouldn't let her do anymore. Just thought this might clear up the mystery. :) Sandy

I also noticed this. I tried doing one of Cathe's older workouts a while back that I had not done in a very very long time. I actually had to stop the workout because it made me dizzy also. It never bothered me before, so I was quite surprised that it bothered me this time.

In GS chest and triceps, during the seated overhead tricep sets, Cathe takes a break to stretch and gives some pointers on how to modify the exercise if it's too uncomfortable. Watch Brenda and Lorraine--they think she's leading another stretch and start to copy her moves and then quickly put their arms down and start giggling.
