Fess up....Gym Style Chest push-ups

Hi LD,

Drop sets - 16 first, then 14, then 12, then 10, then 8, then 6, then 4-2 count push ups and then 2-4 count pushups all back to back, little rest. Then she goes into 3 sets of bench presses, 3 sets of flies on level bench. Then 2 sets of bench and flies on incline. Finishes with barbell chest/tri bench.

I've always done pushups on my knees. I had an instructor who did 100 pushups during her class. I never got close to that number! I just do as many as I can!

I do them all too, on my toes, but.....it ain't pretty. I try to keep the form correct, but by the set where Cathe says "Are ya seeing any starts yet?", I'm hurtin' for certain. :eek:
 
I can do all of them on my toes going at the same pace as Cathe BUT I did have to work up to this. The first time through I think I dropped to my knees for the slow ones at the end and added more rest time. Eventually I cut down the rest time so I could keep pace with Cathe.

I'm doing P90X now and the endless pushups in Chest/Back and Chest/Shoulders/Triceps are much tougher. I think I counted over 240 pushups one day! :eek: It will be interesting to go back to GS when I'm done with P90X and see how I do.

I do them all... 72 total on the toes right with Cathe:7 Love it!
Also, I have to agree with Sue that the p90x series are harder. Also try the Barry's Bootcamp Chest & Abs if you want a push up challenge

I haven't done this workout for a while, but when I did, I'd try to do all the push-ups on my toes, but put a longer break between sets (which I often do with Cathe's weight work).
 
I use to do them all on my toes before I got pregnant, now, I can just do a few then I have to go to my knees. There are times I do them but if I am limited on time, I will skip them.

The GS push up segment is a lot easier after a P90x rotation so yes, I do all of them now. But I rest a bit in between when necessary.

I can match Cathe on the pushups, no problem. What gets ugly for me is the weight work afterwards!!! The last two sets of incline chest presses and flies are tough for me... I even grunt!! :)

When I first got this dvd, I had to drop to my knees on the last few slow sets. Now, I do them all on my toes. I do take a little longer rest period than Cathe. I do this often with her stuff; it allows me to lift a bit heavier.

Gotta love the feeling those push-ups give ya! Especially when I remember back to the days when I could only manage a few push-ups on my toes. Next goal, being able to do that many pull-ups}( yeah, in my dreams!!:7

I do all 72 (at Cathe's pace, using her rest periods) but usually this way:

16 - All on my toes
14 - 7 on toes, 7 on knees
12 - 6 on toes, 6 on knees
10 - 5 on toes, 5 on knees
8 - 4 on toes, 4 on knees
6 - all on toes
4 - all on toes
2 - all on toes
