Favorite Intenisty Series Workout?

Bobbi

Cathlete
I am starting an Intensity Series rotation this week. when I recieved the IS I was fully symptomatic of PF and I have done Cardio and Weights and BootCamp but so long ago I hardly remeber them. ME I have done quite bit and love. What's your favorite workout and any ideas of how to incorporate the series into a moderate strength and intense but foot friendly cardio program? I think sticking to moderate but intense cadio will work best and I think IS fits that bill? During my heavy phase I got a little too enthused a few times and did full heavy strength with StepWorks, Step Blast and KPC. I did ok but I know I am going tao hae to take it easy or my feet will fail. Maybe I should combine cadio and weights or alternae them? Whats your favorite high rep, ow wieght workout and what cardio do you favor with them?

Hi Bobbi, my favorite is still the Pyramids. I use them for strength training so I pause the DVD a lot to rest and stretch in between sets and pyramids. But you can use them for endurance by using lower weights and doing the pyramids the way Cathe does them -- with no rest between sets. As for cardio, IMAX 2 is the best and most fun, I think. Unfortunately, I don't find it foot- or knee-friendly, but you can always modify the moves. C&W is also a great workout. It's perfect for me because I get to do my cardio and upper body toning in one session. I use ME only when I tire of PH or CTX-UB split or MIS. The only workout I don't use is BC. I'm not so fond of circuit training, although I know I could use it.:) I used to do something like this:

Sun-PUB
Mon-IMAX 2
Tue-PLB
Wed-rest
Thur-LL
Fri-C&W
Sat-heavy ab work/extended stretch

Have fun!

Pinky, my mind's been on PLB and PUB too and I know they'll fit in with lighter weight work but I have done them every third week for quite some time so I really want to devote myself to the lower weight, high rep workouts.

Ok, I'm lying! I have committed to doing the lower weight, higher rpes workouts One of the things I love about the workouts I consider heavy is I can actually keep track of the count which I lose in the higher rep workouts. :) And count I do. It drives my poot husband crazy. But I figure if I keep my weight load at 40-45 pounds for lower body and really get into moderate weights for upper, I can deal with those endless reps! And benefit from them. It's funny that a scrawny, small mucled broad like myself so loves heavy weight training! I hope I learn to love the IS as much!

Hey Bobbi :)

Unfortunately, my favorite Intensity workout is IMAX2. But Bootcamp is fantastic, I think. Being that you can't do too much high impact aerobics, perhaps the 1 minute cardio would be ok while still doing the impact?? I'm not sure how bad your footsies are, but if you could do that, bootcamp is one of the coolest workouts ever. The Pyramids are also great.

Do you have the CTX DVD?? If so, I think the Leaner Legs and the Upper Body Split are phenomenal endurance workouts. Very tough and thorough. If not, and you dont' want to buy the whole series, I would buy the leaner legs tape... do they have the upper body split on tape? I think those are great, even though they're not the Intensity Series.

I think Pinky's idea for turning the Pyramids into an endurance workout is perfect, too. I hope this one gives you great results as well!!

I love Muscle Endurance. I started doing it three times a week and really began to see a difference in how I looked. Wonderful change!!

Bootcamp. I don't consider the 1 minute carido CARDIO!!! I consider it anaerboic as i do it as hard as possible, and it fits in nicely with my weight training. I love Bootcamp. Second would be muscle E as i love the biceps exercises!!! Ouch ... x

The ones my puppy destroyed WAHHHHH...the Pyramids are my all time favorite Cathe workouts.

Colleen, who is hoping the cases can just be replaced or I'll be placing an order soon

Oh my! I love every tape in this series! I don't know if I can pick a favorite, but if I HAD to ... it would be Boot Camp!!!

Bobbi:

I made BootCamp PF friendly by using my stationary bike during the leg and cardio portions. For the leg portions I went into a high gear, then down shifted for the cardio part. It was actually harder this way because there were no breaks between legs and cardio.

I've had such great results with my new orthotics that I'm hoping the PT will let me try some standing leg work and low-imapct soon. Good Luck.

Thanks for the input!

I appreciate all the input!

That's where I am now, Ann. Definitely low impact. I get fewer aches and pains with it and it's not affected my fitness level. It may have improved it, it since I am so prone to injury. I cannot jump. I have an easier time on the step though since I guess it picks up some of the impact.

I had put together a rotation but when I went back to it to start it, I realized it probably would not be to good idea to do a full body moderate strength workout with Cardio and Weights and Boot Camp in the same week plus several other favorite cardio workouts on the agenda to. Not yet anyway. :) I see the foot doctor this Tuesday and I am doing low impact until then. I am pretty good at modifying by keeping the moves not only grounded but getting really low and incorporating squatting. The last time I did that, my legs looked great. Rather than mixing and matching which I did for so long with the heavy workouts, I am going to rotate through IS, CTX,BB and TS and then go back to Slow & Heavy for a week. Then lather, rinse, repeat and see how that works. So many workouts so little time, LOL! I am interested to see how the flab busting will go but since my diet's pretty clean and I have been so consistant with strength and cardio, my abs are a lot trimmer.

I think it will be really fun to conquer IS and I hope the Orthopedists gives me positive input on these darn feet!
