Who are some good instructors with with decent choreography and intensity besides Cathe? I also like Christi Taylor, but know there must be some other good instructors out there that I am missing.
I like Tracie Long because she has some innovative moves, cues so well, and possesses a jaw-dropping figure designed to inspire people towards fitness. I love her no-nonsense but warm engagement with her audience. Her form is off-the-charts flawless, too...
Jenny Ford is just an adorable step aerobics instructor who also cues well, has some good music to work out to, and makes step easy-to-learn. You have to love someone who is pretty young (40-ish?), yet chose the now-unusual path of becoming a step aerobics (group teaching) instructor. Teaching step is not easy, and an instructor without certification won't typically suffice, but most gyms have gotten away from offering step classes. Other than perhaps with Zumba, gyms no longer see much profit from step, so they don't offer it. (I think that's a shame.) Jenny also stands out for making her workouts free on YouTube in HD format, while also having them in an inexpensive downloadable version from her own website. I really admire that she's willing to put her very hard work out there for free, then trust that if people like her stuff enough, they'll buy it. She obviously has a big heart, and wants to see people get started in fitness on the right foot. I find that attitude admirable and wonderful.
I will always have a soft spot for my favorite trainers from The FIRM, Susan Harris and Jen Carmen. Both are so inspiring, energetic, and really "get" what you're feeling in the moment of exercising. You know, those tough points where you're ready to give up, that's where they always know to say an encouraging word. Since they're doing the work right along with you, it makes you grit your teeth and bear it!
