I'm a big fan of the Anita Blake books by Laurell K Hamilton, and while they used to be more story, now they're more sex. I was puttering around on Amazon maybe 2 weeks ago, and there's a new one called "the Harlequin" so I ordered, and that's what I'm reading now. No brain strain at all, but a fun read.

I am reading Harlan Coben's The Final Detail.It is really engrossing. I might be finished with it at the end of the day. I also plan to read James Patterson's Mary Mary, Michael Crichton's State of Fear and then tunnel through John Sanford's Prey Series of books.
Gosh, it's great to find people with a passion for reading. In fact, it's because of you guy why I found out about Harlan Coben and about the book The Kite Runner.
By the way, if you purchase your books, Amazon has a four books for the price of three deal going. I shop there consistently.

Hi all,
Currently I'm reading Lipstick Jungle by Candance Bushnell and after that I'm going to read "Two Little Girls in Blue" by Mary Higgins Clark, after that it will be the new Jackie Collins I can't wait because it is another Lucky Santagelo novel and Lady Boss is my fav book of all time.
Mary Mary was a good book and if you like Patterson, Honeymoon I thought was great.;-)

I was watching our local (Las Vegas) news yesterday and they were interviewing Jackie Collins. She was talking about her new novel, sounds like alot of fun! Plus they are "unveiling" a bunch of slot machines called "Get Lucky" or something like that at Harrah's casino!
Only in Las Vegas right?:7 I thought you might get a kick out of that. I remember reading a few of her books about Lucky, she was a real kick-ass female if I remember correctly!

Thanks to this thread, I now have a list of books to read that is longer than my arm.
But first, I have to read the 4 non-fluff books I recently purchased, as follows:
1. "The Good Life" by Jay McInerney;
2. "Elements of Style" by Wendy Wasserstein;
3. "The Wisdom of Menopause" by Dr. Northrup (okay, I won't actually read it, just thumb thru it); and
4. "Women & Money, Owning the Power to Control Your Destiny" by Suze Orman (I'm ascared of this one).
After all that, I'm really going to need something fluffy.

Okay, I actually wound up reading the Wisdom of Menopause and it's fabulous. But I didn't mean to put a damper on this thread by mentioning the non-fluff stuff. Keep those recommendations coming! I love this thread. I will definitely order the Starter Wife for vacation.

If you want fun and "fluffy" books I strongly suggest CAT'S MEOW and THE NEXT BIG THING!!! Since everyone here is into fitness, you should LOVE THE NEXT BIG THING!!! The gist of the plot is: woman wants to lose weight, goes to L.A. to take part on a weight loss reality TV show. TOO CUTE!!!

Nan- Anita Blake is so addictive! I just discovered Laurell K. Hamilton this spring and I'm up to Danse Macabre. Have you tried her Merry Gentry series?
Gayle- I love Evanovich and Crusie, too! If any of you out there have tried one or the other, you'll like them both. So funny!

I actually referred back to this thread for days after it left the 1st page... Now my Amazon shopping list is huge (but i'm trying to pace myself)!!
I just finished "Baby Proof" by Emily Giffin and it was pretty good. I like her writing style. "Something Borrowed" is definitely my favorite of her books, though.
Now I am reading "The Red Tent" by Anita Diamant. I wouldn't consider it a fluffy read per se but I wanted a change of pace. I really like it so far.

I just finished up with cathing up on all of Danielle STeele's books she wrote since my daughter was born 6 years ago. I guess I haven't had the time until now. I read her very latest "Bunegalo 2" and I was not impressed, but it could be because I just read at least 8 of her books in a row. Too much of a good thing? I will try "The Starter Wife" next.

I am a voracious reader, and I am getting a lot of ideas (both fluffy and non-fluffy) that I will have to go to the library and check out.
Jodi Picoult's The Pact is wonderful, but definately a non-fluffy read (I cried during most of it). I just finished it, and am about to start Plain Truth by her. I am normally a big true crime fan, but am taking a break from that for a while.
Thanks to the people who recommended "Bright lights, big ass"- is this a reference to the old book with a similar title (Bright lights big city) by Jay McInery?
And to the person who read The Red TEnt-wasn't that a wonderful book? I loved it. It was refreshing after reading exclusively true crime type material for years.
