Fall Cleaning anyone??

 Okay, I finished the basement because our local St Vincent de Paul society was collecting toys and clothes and coats etc to give to the poor. Well, my boys are 4 and 7 and they had lots of great barely used toys. I am so glad someone else will get to use them. I went thru all the coats, clothes, blankets etc. Well did I open a can of worms!!!:eek:

Now I'm tackling the garage! The last day of the collection is tomorrow and that's my goal. But OMG where the hell did all this stuff come from??? And why do I have to take everything out first, go thru it, put some in trash, some in bins, put some back and then look around at a giant mess and lose my energy??? I am exhausted. Hubby is away (otherwise we would not be getting rid of anything) and this is getting overwhelming. It looks worse than when I started.:eek:

I want that big sucking vaccuum that The Cat in the Hat uses to just suck everything up!!!!

Does anyone else do this??

well..... we did make an attempt to "organize" our garage over Labor Day weekend... We managed to put a small dent into the chaos but did not manage to actually go THROUGH any of the boxes! We have moved twice (one long distance and one local) in the last 18 months so we still have items in there that haven't been touched for many moons! We should really tackle that again and donate!

So my hats off to you and your endeavor!

I've done it...not too recently, though. It is true that once you get started, you end up making a bigger mess than before while you're sorting everything, then you run out of steam and look around thinking "What have I gotten myself into???" But just stay focused on how great it will be when you're done and everything is so organized....you can do it!!!

Not really fall cleaning but I did rearrange all the furniture in the front room. Tho I did wash the hardwood floors.

I LOVE to do this kind of cleaning- love getting rid of stuff, organizing and finding happy new homes for things we don't use anymore. I am a new aunt to a baby boy and I'm so excited to have a place for my son's baby clothes! My niece already gets my daughter's hand me downs. I love getting rid of CLUTTER!!! :p And yeah, it sucks when you realize how much time and energy it takes but wow does it feel terrific when you're done! Good for you. :)

after a month here i finally got some things down in the crawl space. there was some water issues but they were finally solved and i was able to store some things that were really taking up space in the house. i still want to go through some papers b/c my cabniets are overflowing and was also going to look through of the dvds(not fitness LOL) and see what we haven't watched in over a year. i would like to get rid of anything we aren't using. xmas is going to be tight so i was thinking of taking in my great shape dvds i don't watch and wrap them up for his little brother(appropriate of course lol) and looking into fixing an old computer for him as well. really trying to make use of my small house in creative ways.

I'm Done!!! :D:D
Now I am locking the garage doors and never letting anyone put anything in there again!!!! I don't think I could handle doing that ever again.
Now tomorrow I have to take the bins to church to drop it off. PLEASE let there be a big strong man there to unload my car. Or I might just leave my car too!!! :D:D:D
Motrin and bed for me.

elliemom great going! dh has been working alot so i figured if i didn't get that stuff out of here i was going to have to look at ugly bins for the rest of my life LOL. he had the biggest rubbermaid tote FULL to the brim of baseball cards and that was the worst of it. it was super heavy. i already went through my clothes before we moved here but i may want to rearrange things to fit some other stuff in there. it will never end LOL

I start SERIOUS cleaning on Tuesday. Right now, I'm just trying to really get caught up on basic stuff I've let fall off since I came down with my bad cold. I've always been much better at fall cleaning than spring.
