Extend the 1st phase of P90X?

I posted this in the wrong place a couple of hours ago. I keep doing that!

I'm on my 4th week of my 1st Classics rotation and
I am supposed to rest. I was thinking about extending this phase an additional week to help combat the calories from Thanksgiving get togethers. I won't eat like a mad woman but will indulge in some favorites. Has anyone extended just one phase of the rotation? Should I not worry about it? Any advice is welcome!

Personally, I felt like the "rest" week was not a rest at all; it was tough and I felt like I burned calories, it just wasn't via lifting weights.
 
I wouldn't worry about it. The recovery week workouts are not that easy, so you will still be burning tons of calories. Your muscles need a break from the heavier weight workouts and this week will get them rested and prepared for phase 2. If anything, maybe throw in a good cardio day in place of one of the stretch days.:)
 
I agree.... I am 5 days from "recovery" week and can tell this week that my muscles are needing some down time. Keep in mind that all the good of lifting weights occurs while muscles are at rest. The cardio may appear light but definitly is active recovery. To battle any T-giving bulge may I suggest taking your recovery week as planned - doing P90X as outlined and adding in some cardio if you feel you have the energy and desire. I so believe in doing any program like P90X as outlined if you are looking for the same results as those that did (aka: P90 success stories).
The manual outlines that staying in a phase a bit longer is fine if you feel you want to master it, however that is taking the recovery week and then repeating a week or more.
Just my thoughts!:)
 
Thanks ladies! I really do feel like my muscles need a break. Especially my upper back. I didn't realize the "rest" week was so active. I'm going to stick to the program.

Great advice here. Yes it really is FAR from a recovery week! It is just a no lifting week. I stumbled through the recovery weeks - because my expectations were way off! I loved the FINAL recovery week because I Finally knew what to expect. Core Syn is a great workout!

Also another bit of advice when you do CST - it's a killer and go into doing your best and forget the rest. There are 1 arm pushups, plyo pushups! It's crazy but I you laugh at these and don't let it get you down you'll have a GREAT workout! I fortunately had been forwarned on this and it helped a lot!

I'm w/ ya on the upper back... jeeeeez it feels like I have NEVER worked it before now...CRAZY! Glad you'll take your faux rest week;-)
