I have been taking care of sick kids for over a week, I have been getting little sleep because when my kids are sick I tend to worry constantly and don't sleep to good, I have been trying to get in some cardio and weights but I noticed today I am so tired and my legs are hurting a little more. Do those two not go along?

Leslie-

It sounds like you just need to rest. You don't want to end up sick!
I hope your kids are feeling better. My son had the flu last week and my daughter the week before. I know what you mean about worrying!!

Have a great day!!

My kids got the darn stomach flu that last for a week :-( and there is one more child that hasn't gotten it YET LOL. and then there is my hubby and me. I hope dearly that I don't get it but I think I am going to rest it up for a few. I am way tired. Think I am going to fit in som Yoga stretching for a day

Hi Leslie,

My son has been sick for the last 8 days. Tummy bug topped off with an ear infection. Since this started my workouts have been cut short. My son is the whiniest child when he's sick. It feels like it did when he was a colic baby. I try to take advantage of his naps and get some weight training in. It's been tough but I hope we're nearing the end. It's that blasted time of the year when bugs spread like wildfire. It's like this every year. Visits to the pedia every two weeks for something or other. My days spent on a rocking chair, trying to soothe away a child's aches because Advil and Motrin take time to work. Anyway, get some rest and ease back into your workouts when you and your children get better. Hope you all feel better soon.:)

Leslie, I think it's always important to listen to your body. If you're tired, you should rest. Recovery time is just as important to overall fitness and health as eating right and exercise. Take some time to rest and rejuvenate! Cathe will be waiting for you when you feel better!!

Hi Leslie!! I say listen to your body. It has taken me awhile to really live up to believing......"listen to your body". I sometimes get mentally exhausted from work, and I've learned to distinguish that by doing at least a few minutes of activity to get me through that exhaustion and going into a real workout. However, there are times when my body is just plain physically exhausted. When that happens, definitely rest is needed. In the past if I've done activity when I was physically exhausted, I can't and don't workout to my potential, hence my form and abilities are very sluggish, and I end up hurting myself (anywhere from pulling something, falling off my step and hurting my ankle.....which did not allow me to do step for almost six weeks, or messing up my back because of poor form......I have back problems). Anyhow, I guess I'm getting to the point of I learned the hard way because I'm very stubborn!! Hope you listen to what your body says, and definitely get plenty of rest!!! A friend of mine pointed out to me the other day when I told him I was back to working out........he told me that to make sure I get plenty of rest to recuperate. He told me that many football players get a bad rap and are considered lazy because they sleep alot from their intense training. I don't think that will be my case, since I'm hoping for more energy and less headaches in the long run!! lol.

Leslie:

simple answer: don't do it. If you are exhausted, rest. Respect your body rather than punishing it.

Stay well, ya hear!!!! ;-)
