Exercises to strengthen hamstrings?

I have injured my calf while training for a Half Marathon and was told that I need to strengthen my hamstrings b/c I have a muscle imbalance. My calves are much stronger than my hamstrings. I do have access to a hamstring curl weight machine, but wondered what exercises Cathe does in her workouts that will strengthen the hamstrings.

Hi Gin,

Single leg bridges on the box (with or without the band), roll-outs on a stability ball, and deadlifts are a few hamstring exercises that Cathe uses that come to mind.
 
Not Cathe, of course, but I find that squats work very well for me. Just make sure to push through your heels as you raise up. Good luck!

Gin..I am a runner too....I prefer the hamstring curl myself, but from Cathe's workouts I think deadlifts work the best...:)
 
I did Pyramid Lower Body yesterday and have serious DOMS in hamstrings today. Those rollouts on the ball were a killer! I haven't tried Butts and Guts yet, but I'm guessing that one is great for hamstrings too.
