Exclusively Cathe

I use mostly Cathe for step cardio, kickboxing and all weights but I will throw in Billy Blanks TAE BOE for kickboxing once in awhile for variety.

I hate losing the time driving too and from the gym. Working out at home, in the early morning is ideal for my lifestyle.

WOW! Thanks for everyone's responses! I checked the thread this morning and was very impressed with everyone's thoughtful responses. I think I will wait for a month or two before canceling my membership. The gym I go to is located in the building I work at downtown, therefore very convenient (and also part of the reason it is so pricey). It is a very "posh" gym with great equipment, amazing locker rooms you actually want to get dressed in, and there is usually barely anyone in there to bother you or make you wait around. However, I also end up seeing a lot of people I work with there, and it is sometimes a bit strange to see people in shorts that I ususually see in suits. I paid so much to start up the membership that I feel bad quiting it after only 6 months (you don't even want to know how much...it pains me to think how many Cathe videos I could have purchased with that, I almost would have finished my collection). My fiance (soon to be husband in 2 weeks) got a membership there too after I joined so it is the only time we really get to exercise in the same space. Also, they are starting up more classes in a few weeks after buying out more space for class rooms. Some of the classes sound pretty interesting. The classes they have now are not a good times for me, so I am hoping when they add more, I will be able to actually go to them. If I am able to go to 2 classes per week in addition to Cathe, I think that will keep me happy for a long time. I workout the hardest when I have someone pushing me, either Cathe or in a class environment. Just working out on my own in a gym doesn't seem to get me the best results. So if the classes end up not being at good times for me, I may just end the membership or at least put it on hold so I don't have to pay the start up fee again. The price is supposed to go up even higher after they add these classes, so I would probably never be able to afford coming back if I quit. Thanks for everyone's responses! Maybe the best solution long term would be to join a more affordable gym so that I don't feel bad paying so much to work out so little. But for now, I suppose I will continue to pay for the convenience and be able to work out with my man.

Thanks!!

I do all my cardio at home, and use primarily Cathe. Sometimes, I'll do some Janis Saffell, Kari Anderson or Mindy Mylrea, but not often. (I also have an elliptical and a recumbant bike at home).

For weights, I use only Cathe, but I do supplement these workouts by going to a gym a couple days a week during my lunch hour. My company pays most of my gym membership fees, so for me, it's silly not to keep my membership. Plus, I have a sit-on-my-butt type of job (I'm an actuary), so going to the gym helps me feel less like a stiff slug during the work day.

I have been working out exclusively to Cathe videos for years. I have had great results in cardio, muscle definition, and fat loss. I have never been bored at all!

I work out exclusively with Cathe 6 days a week for both my cardio and weight training, except for an occasional jog in addition to one of her workouts. I am in the best shape I have ever been! I used to have a gym membership, but found it difficult to get the motivation to drive over there, change my clothes, wait for machines that were occupied, etc. Plus, I was working out in the evenings then so I found myself spending the whole day trying to think of excuses not to go. Working out at home has been great because I get all my equipment out before I go to bed and that way it's all ready for me as soon as I wake up. I used to do TaeBo as well, but as far as I'm concerned no one has the intensity of Cathe's workouts as well as the variety and "fun factor" which keeps me from getting bored. I don't do well with treadmills and elliptical machines because I get bored and dread having to use them. I never get bored doing Cathe's workouts. To me, they are actually "fun".

I was a member of a very exclusive, expensive gym. Multiplex, in Deerfield, Il. I had a strange work schedule, nights, and it was rough getting there. Plus, since we moved further west I was only getting in there on the weekends. I switched to Cathe, was running outside and then my problem with my knees and back started. So, now I am working out with Cathe, investing in a spin bike for home. I do admit, I miss the gym. It was nice, exclusive, etc. But I could not justify paying almost 100.00 a month and not using it for at least 4 days a week. So, I learned to move on and do other things. I have other DVD's, TaeBo, Janis Saffrell, Kari Anderson, Karen Voight, Charles Harris, etc. I mix things up and am in the best shape of my life. Everyone asks, what did you do? The answer: Got serious about me, focused on me, and got real with me.

Sorry to barge in here and change the subject for un momento...

Shelbygirl,

You're an actuary? I actually took the first test. Didn't pass many years ago. How many have you taken? If you don't mind me asking? You're a smart cookie! :D I graduated with a math major w/a minor in computer science. Then went back to school for a secondary education in math. Do you like your job?

You can PM if you'd like.

Dallas

OK, sorry everyone back to the subject! :)
