Equipment needed for Cathe videos

Mariela

Cathlete
Can someone (Cathe, SNM, or users) please make a list of all the equipment needed to exercise with ALL of the Cathe videos? ...just in case I were to buy many of them at the same time...
Also... which ones can be found in a regular (local) sports store and which ones are exclusive from Cathe or have to be purchased online only? Other specifications are welcome also.
Thanks!

First of all you need a step. Cathe has a few workouts without step (Bootcamp, cardio kicks,KPC, kickbox of ctx series) but you are going to love her step style. I recommend a profesional step not a fitness step. You need a various weights dumbbells. I don't need a barball now. The cathe's weights workouts are a challenge to me with my dumbbells. For the high step exercises like leg press I use my fanny lifter step. I have a stability ball. It is great in the abs's work. I don't have a medicine ball. In the exercises with the medicine ball I use a dumbbell like in the side to side exercises for the abs. Hope this help. In the new workouts Cathe is going to use a resistance band. If you preorder the 10-11 dvd of hardcore you will receive the green resistance band . Anyway you can buy the resistance band when they will be in stock.Hope this helps.

Sorry. I forgot to clarify...

I already have the step, barbell, and dumbells. Still I would like to see a complete, one by one list. (Obssesive Compulsive here!:7 )Others can benefit from it.

Is the stability ball always the same?
Is the medicine ball always the same?
Is there a third kind of ball?
etc.

The stability ball is always the same. The medicine ball is always 8 lbs, but you may want less or more. The dumbells vary from 3 to 40 lbs. She uses a body bar in PS Legs (15 lbs). Push-up handle bars in MIS. The high step in many of them.

She uses several "brands" of barbells, weight varies from 15 to 50 lbs. Ankle weights in Legs and Glutes, but you can also use them in some other leg tapes (I use them in PS Legs).

There is no other kind of ball.

In PS Legs, she does calf raises off the edge of a short 2X4 or 2X6, but I use the top of the step.

I could be wrong, but I think that's all the equipment you will ever need.

Here's a list of all the equipment that I know of (I have 99% of Cathe's workouts). Of course, I'll note that you dont need everything to be able to do her workout, just a step and dumbells for starters....

-club length step
-High step/Fanny Lifter equivalent
-various dumbells
-body bar (used in the floor work of PS L&A)
-ankle weights
-barbell with various weight plates
-medicine ball
-stability ball
-a chair
-in her new workouts yet to be released, bands
-an oxygen tank (hehe)

Yes, an oxygen tank is a must-have. :D

I don't have a medicine ball, but I know you can get them in various weights, depending on your needs/wants.

I don't have a high step - I use the Fanny Lifter from the Firm or use my SuperStep (the kind that Cathe has that she makes into a bench).

I don't have a barbell (well, I have a 45-pound barbell, but that one is just a might too cumbersome for me right now), so I use dumbbells in place of a barbell when doing Cathe's workouts.

I also don't have ankle weights, yet...but that might be my next purchase.

The key is to not worry about the equipment. Every workout can be modified to fit what equipment you DO have. I mean, I don't even use a step for Cathe's step workouts (the ol' asthma won't let me). As long as you're moving, you're getting somewhere! :)

Hi
Thank you for the helpful tips. BUT, what size stability ball do you all use? I have to order one and can't tell from the tapes what size to order.
:D Thank you
Vanne

PS. She also uses resistance tubing the High Step Training workouts and Body Fusion. You can pick these up in low, medium and high resistance at a sportings good store. They come with handles. The oxygen tank and an automatic defibrillator are also excellent ideas too.

The size of your stability ball will depend upon your height. Generally, if you are between 4'11" and 5'4" you should get a 55 cm or 21 inch ball, and if you are taller (up to 5'11") you should get a 65 cm or 25 inch ball. BE SURE to get burst resistant quality.

Hope you're in the position to take a second mortgage on your house. Cuz if you're going to get all the videos and all the equipment, you'll be putting out some MAJOR dough!:)

When you say one by one list, are you meaning "for S&H you need a barbell, dumbbells, a bench?" If so, when you click on the videos on the home page, you get a list of all of the equipment needed. It's not a list on the forums, but it's a start.
